We’re itching to anchor by Stump pass and dinghy to beach but we’re concerned about skinny water too. Are the charted depths accurate around there?

Not really, but if you stay in the middle of the channel you should be fine. The shoal markers are quite accurate. best to go in at high tide. If you have a tender, then I suggest you launch it and let someone take it in ahead of you to make sure. A great place to anchor to stay out of the way of channel traffic is the channel that runs off to the east, the one that has that pier I mentioned in the video. You want to stay as close to that shoreline as possible. It is 8-10 feet over there but it seems as if you should be running aground you are so close to shore. Hope this helps. happy to answer any other questions you may have about it.

That is one fear of mine. Once I have mine fixed, I will be in the same waters.
    How do I avoid this?

Alex, by avoid this I am assuming you mean running aground. Are you going to pass through Stump Pass on your way out to the gulf or are you looking to anchor there?

Correct. I'm not sure yet, but plan to visit the area.

Who is the manufacturer of the tender?
