I HAVE SEEN MICKEY HART PERFORM THIS, A FEW TIMES LOL, AND A LOT OF DEAD MEMBERS DUDES, AND I LOVE THEM ALL BECAUSE IT HELPS ME DANCE AWAY MUSCULAF DYSTROPHY, AND THE ABILITY TO ENJOY CANNABIS RISING LOVE YOU ALL!
I met Mickey once, I was at the Smithsonian, I recognized him, told him hi,what a joy!! I met Phil lesh, when the Dead added a show,Limo pulled up to me,and out of the window popped out 2 tix,I ran over to get them and Phil said enjoy the show, we were blessed! Daryl
Out of the frying pan and into the fire Over the rat trap and under the wire You put it down heavy, pick it up lean Got to lay it down dirty and play it back clean
This rap version by The Dead was actually recorded around 1972 or 1973. It's on TH-cam if you search Fire on the mountain Rap. Knowing this, you'll feel like you've reached a new level as a Dead fan.
Wasn't this where they rioted? If so I was at deer creek for phish & trey announced what was happening at Woodstock & then they played fire. Disclaimer: not a phish fan, but I did used to enjoy their parking lots
Not fade away, beloved, Drums for Helena, are right, let that be the learning,, she gave that day in portland, angered over prison for profit on earth, not to my Gods, she shewed her wrath!
Most of the comments have no idea that this is the original arrangement of the song. Mickey wrote and recorded Fire in 1974 and it was the first hip hop song ever recorded, beating the Sugar Hill Gang and The Fatback Band both by an entire 5 years.
A lot of old white rock fans are so desperate to give credit for the invention of rap and hip hop to old white rock guys. It's kind of pathetic. Rap and Hip Hop cam from black culture and black people. Period!
After the Cornell version this might be the best one out there the other percussionists it add more to the reggae vibe of the song and it more rhythmic to the song I love it
This was pretty good, it would've probably been better if Mickey Hart had a different crew but I like the difference from the deads version, especially because Mickey Hart wrote this song, he should've gotten a more drummy version like this, because this is more how he wanted it in the dead
Was kinda thinking along the same lines.. guy was a technician like the hair guys of the 80's but no feeling.. no emotion.. Still deserves a place at the Dead Bands table.. everybody gets a 'Victim'.. (~):}
Mickey Hart is a national treasure and needs to be protected at all costs!!

Awesome, I love it! Thank You! 💜🙏😁
I dig this one. It's a different take on the song.
Why is no one talking about the way the keys player slams on the keys w her elbow 😭 3:44
Billy k would do that with his toms. Not sure why. It’s in the dead movie if I recall correctly
Yes it is.
He’s back to doing the rap with DnC!!! 🤟😎👍
Hell yeah.
Let Mickey Sing

Rebecca Mauleon

Do you know who the conguero is?
This is Happiness is Drumming not Fire on the Mountain.
Is that Mark Karan on guitar?

In '73 at watkins glen theres a jam the dead played during a soundcheck that messes around with the chords from this song
First hip hop song ever recorded? That's legendary
@@greenrockyroad3845 Hip-Hop isn't even defined by a single rhyme and rhythm combination.
@@masonjarbeiler9569not really. It's two notes lol

Far out!
I guess this pairs nicely with Sublime's cover of Scarlet Begonias 😂🤷♂️
looking for Candy
Can someone edit Mickey's "vocals" from out of my mind
The patchouli is stinging my nostrils through the screen.

dude. dont. just dont. GD4L.
lol interesting take on FOM
Now I know why he did not sing with the Dead.
I like it! except for the guitar solo
Gonna pretend I didn’t see this...
I could make ya some eggs if you'd like em.
Why can you tell me coz I really want know I just know about Woodstock so plus I’m it’s been two years lol
I dont trust a guitarist who keeps his eyes open during the one of the soulful parts of the song, aka the solo
Was kinda thinking along the same lines.. guy was a technician like the hair guys of the 80's but no feeling.. no emotion.. Still deserves a place at the Dead Bands table.. everybody gets a 'Victim'.. (~):}
You mean like Jerry?
Didn't like the solo...
I love Mickey solo. I prefer GD without him. This is wonderful, though.
🤷
Is this why jerry hated rap?
Jewish justice.
Dreadful.
