  • Sometimes I make the 2 hour trip to shop at the nearest Amish stores but the more kids I have, the harder that has gotten! For the past 2 years I’ve been able to shop like the Amish with Azure Standard Grocery Delivery Co-op. Check the Azure website to see if you have a drop location near you, and if you don’t - you can start one! Azure drops are the perfect place to meet like minds - it’s only a certain kind of person who wants to buy 25 lb bags of ancient whole grain and huge boxes of A2A2 milk lol!
    Check out Azure Standard: bit.ly/shopazu...
Tell them I sent you with my share code HopewellHeights1 and use the code NEW15 for 15% off your first order over $100!

Mill your own grain with a home grain mill and avoid the chronic health issues that come with pre-milled store bought flour and modern grain (use discount code hopewell20): nutrimill.com/...

Your comment about not wanting your daughter to learn how to be a homemaker and a mother at the same time; my head could’ve fallen off I was nodding “yes” so hard! My oldest is 8 and I vividly remember realizing I had no clue what I was doing. I would wander the grocery store with no clue what to buy, my house was constantly a mess,….I stumbled into the large family/homeschool mom TH-camrs and I joke that they taught me how to be a mother and a homemaker. I’m definitely hoping I can raise my girls so that the jump into homemaking and motherhood won’t feel like drinking from a fire hydrant.

I’m there right now and I’m so happy other moms have had that experience. It makes me feel not so alone. I’ve currently only got the one daughter and she’s 2 and we’re pregnant with our second baby right now due in December and I feel like I’m diving into the deep end of the pool or more like the ocean because I was never taught how to be a homemaker or a SAHM. Finding channels like this have been my saving grace on teaching me all of the things I need to know on keeping a home and raising my daughter in a feminine and Godly fashion.

THANK YOU for teaching your daughter homemaking now instead of her being thrown into it when she moves out on her own as a single lady or a married lady. We taught our 3 children (2 girls and 1 boy) not just homemaking, but meal planning, bulk cooking, a working and long term pantry, budgeting to be debt free, saving, canning, gardening, auto, basic sewing, animal husbandry (we raised enough pigs, steers and chickens to feed our family a year at a time), basic survival skills and wilderness training. We are not off grid, we live in a small rural, mountain town and we go hiking and camping in the mountains regularly and we have learned through starting out with “nothing” to now, that being smart about pantry and meat items and self sufficiency will carry one through the hard and the good times. We are not conspiracy theorists per se, but we are preppers to a degree, and more because of becoming self-sufficient than what is happening in the world now, we take the biblical approach to having stores of food like Joseph did for those times where we either do t have a lot of income or because of the pandemic, and we are close to retiring so we know we will be able to adjust to cutting our income in half when the time comes.

I think it’s great how you and your husband work together! It’s OK to have your own “jobs” that you do well to raise your family. Unfortunately, a lot of times both men and women complain about doing the other ones “job” or they complain about doing their own jobs to take care of their family. If more marriages were like yours and more people had the same mindset as you and your husband, marriages would go well! The baby smiles are the best! Your little boy playing outside with the kitty is so precious! Thank you for showing us the grocery hall, I have been wanting to order from them for a while and I just haven’t done it, I think I’ll make an order!

Just an FYI that I learned from Doug and Stacy’s Off Grid site, but always use your discretion and do your own research, they said to check the type of rennet that is used in cheese. There are many if not it seems all manufactures are switch from animal rennet to using microbial, vegetable, or it will say just enzymes. One will think they are all switching to accomodate the vegans. My mind goes in a different direction….what do they feed these enzymes…..SOY! I have found a local organic farm that uses animal rennet in their cheese and sells it to make your own. Keep trying to perfect your cheese making skills using animal rennet. It’s so worth it since the SOY debate is real! Thanks for great video and all the info. I love azure too.

My parents used to go to Costco and later BJ’s to feed our family of 6 for $800-$900 back in 2010-2019. We’re all adults out of the house now, BUT I do remember people used to ask us if we were having a party 😂

I exclusively shop at costco. When I'm in Idaho in the summer I get asked this EVERY time because I use 2 carts. I just respond, "Nope, just a lot of kids." I bring my older 2 kids with me because well, if they want to eat they need to help. We do live full time in Hawaii. There's only 1 Costco, so everyone does HUGE grocery hauls, minus the tourists. If we're getting 2-3 carts no one bats an eye.

I love keeping a highly stocked pantry. It's only my husband and I now, but I continue to stay stocked. I do azure standard and thrive. I also do other stores. I keep things on a schedule so that I spend the same amount each week but go to different sources each week. I grow a garden and we go to u picks and farmers markets. We are both in our early 60s and neither of us take any medications or have any medical conditions. I attribute that to clean eating. We eat well. Food is used to heal us when needed. I love me some Azure. I've never done a haul as big as yours but there are certain things that i can't find anywhere else.
I don't buy a lot of produce especially the fruits because I've had some real loss with that. I live in Florida so it's just too doggone hot to transport it to here.
I have purchased the leeks before, and some beets and they were beautiful. They carry a white (non-bleached) organic artisan flour that sells out frequently. It makes the absolutely best cinnamon rolls I have ever made.
Love that you are teaching your daughter these basic skills. My girls were not always happy with learning it but each one now is able to care for their families.

I normally grow my own garlic, but we let our land sit fallow this year. So I ordered garlic from Azure last month. Let me tell you it is the best garlic I have ever used. But please be careful and wear gloves when peeling large amounts at a time. My fingers got burned from the oils of the garlic. Azures raw cheeses are definitely the best and we are never without some in the fridge and freezer. ❤

Not meaning to be argumentative at all,but i learned both. I worked orimarily with my dad and i still learned cooking, canning, cleaning, etc. And my dad did the gardening along with my mom. The outdoor skills are particularly important for a woman so she is not dependent. And are you teaching your sons to cook and do house chores also? That will be of great value tto them and their families later. I certainly get division of labor but both boys and girls need all the skills for a true partnership and i hate seeing it divided in the way some do. Not saying you are doing that but it did appear so in this video. ❤

I think its great that she is teaching her daughter skills but i Agree. All are life skills that both boys & girls should learn to be well adjusted adults. I have a boy & girl -teaching them both gardening at the moment. My son is too young to do any cooking yet. But he loves cleaning. It's nice to know my kids will be able to thrive in their own right & be independent if they want/need to be 😊. Hoping to teach both the same skills. If they both stay single & have no kids its stuff they would have to do anyway. If they have families in the future they know what to do no matter where life takes them. Again whatever works for her- not my kids lol

I am appalled by the prices of groceries as well. I just picked up a $2,300.00 Azure order on Monday. Almost all of our food comes from Azure, a local farm provides almost all of our meat, plus my husband is a hunter. We buy fruits and vegetables seasonly from local farms and also a lot of frozen produce from Azure. I do get some stuff from Costco and Sam's Club and some things from Thrive Market. But once I got our massive "home grocery store" fully stocked, I have only made four orders the entire year from Azure. It came out to be $320 a month for 12 month period. I won't make another order until Spring so I find it appealing, although a lot of upfront cost, to get massive orders then be set for a while.

We had 3 kids going through their growth spurts at the same time two, 11 year olds and a 13 year old. They ate so much food for about 3-4 years and now it’s back to normal. I was cooking food like they were still 11-15 years old and we had a ton of leftovers for about 6 months and I couldn’t figure out why. Well, they weren’t eating as much and it almost offended me. 😂 but they’re girls, the growth spurts died down, and they really care about their bodies at 16 and 18. I don’t have any boys, but my sister says they eat like they’re growing for 8 years straight. 😊

When your kids become teen man your food will disappear. Look for them being super hungry all the time that signals a growth spurt of a couple of inches seemingly over night and then it's a lot of bumped heads while they get used to Thier new height. So fun to see. Have a little tradition with your daughter just you and she does maybe a certain tea or a certain cookie you have when the kitchen project is done go sit down just with her have a mom and me tea and chat

I would love to know if you use natural haircare and how you keep your hair so nice. My hair is the same lwngth as yours and keeping the bottom from getting tangled is sooo hard, especially with natural haircare.

I would love to know more about azure.. I get nervous buying food from mystery warehouse and some of it with their “company logo” on it. You buying it made me feel a little more confident in it lol
Also, do you always freeze your dairy? I had no idea that was a thing.

I also order azure standard. I love them. But I hate one thing. I order stuff I really need (ex. Einkorn wheat berries 😂) and it shows available, and then at the day of shipment I get an email with updated order saying they dropped off said item because it's no longer available. 😩

How long does it take you to process/prep this order? Do you separate it out for meals right away or use it as you go?

I’ve never seen an olive oil that’s actually olive in color? How’s the taste? I’m looking for a full bodied flavor that scratches your throat lol I haven’t found around me, just flavorless stuff 😢

I usually buy this same oil and recently bought one from Amazon. Still organic, but it was NOT comparable in taste. I’m definitely going back to the Azure oil.

Can I ask a quick question. We are choosing a sink for the kitchen I like the bigger single rectangle ones like you have. Do you have problems not having a draining board when doing dishes?

    • @thehometownhomestead
      @thehometownhomestead หลายเดือนก่อน +1

I have a huge workstation sink. No drain board, but it has multiple accessories that layer inside of it that allow dishes to drain. We love it and would never go back to a smaller sink.
