Listening to this made me nostalgic for the days when I was a part of a pre-order co-op. It's essentially the same thing. Even the video footage was almost identical, with the kids helping out. I loved it. Thank you for posting it. One comment to make, though, regarding your desire to not shop at local supermarkets/markets/shops, keep in mind that these local businesses employ your neighbors, your children's friend's parents, maybe local teens, etc. Amazon probably does not. Yes, the bottom line ($) is really important when you are trying to pay bills, but your community is also important. They are the ones who rally around when times are tough. Just a thought.
Agreed. I buy local as much as I can, including directly from farmers, but there are certain things we just CANNOT find here, especially in stores and especially being rural. (Though I will say I never EVER buy food from Amazon.)
What if the only "local" supermarket is someplace like Walmart? There's not even produce from my state in my local Walmart. We do have some local meats, diary, and eggs from our state there. It sounds like she is growing most of what she needs anyway.
@@erinlikesacornishpasty4703 I totally agree. My local market is owned by a well known long-standing excessively greedy individual and as much as I hate Walmart, I will gladly shop there than give that b*st*rd any of my business…..😂
Mistake #0 - missing out on making new friends during the pick up process. Be friendly, you might meet a local bee keeper or somebody who growing / raises locally.
Yes! Great point! I love to visit at pick ups since so many of the people have similar interests and values. It’s definitely a social event. Unless the weather is bad… then we just hustle through it. 😅
I love Azure. My drop is 5 minutes from my house and it delivers 2x/month, so I feel very blessed. That said, a couple additional tips: don’t assume everything is cheaper. I check prices when I’m at stores and compare the price per oz. or per lb., depending on the item. Costco is sometimes cheaper for the same item, if that is an option for you. Also, if you drive far for your drop, factor in the cost of gas when comparing prices, as that is becoming a bigger expenditure every day. And lastly, some drops charge a delivery fee and some don’t, so just be aware of that as well when determining if it’s worth it to you.
Thank you for adding those tips! I completely agree. I don't buy some things like out-of-season produce from Azure because of the cost. However, for us, we don't have any alternatives other than Walmart, so sometimes we purchase from Azure out of convenience and availability as well.
@@TheFromScratchFarmhouse good point. Yes, it’s about what you have access to to compare if it’s worth it or not for items you usually buy. And that’s different for everyone. And factoring convenience, distance to drop point (gas) and everything else to know what’s the best value. In my comparisons, Azure often is cheaper, but not always. Here’s a tip: keep a price notebook with you to take to grocery stores to compare prices on items you buy regularly. On the Azure site, most items have a drop-down box for prices depending on the quantity. So for instance, rice has different per ounce or per pound prices depending on the quantity purchased. I will write all options down with the unit prices on the items I buy most of, then when I go to Walmart, Costco, or other stores, I can compare the per unit value there. HTH someone out there. Prices are getting CRAZY, so anything we can do to stretch the food budget is worth it to me.
@@ysterling5947 last I checked (a couple of months ago), organic quinoa was cheaper at Costco than Azure. That’s off the top of my head. And that’s at Costco’s regular price. If something is on sale at Costco, it’s probably going to be cheaper than Azure at that time. I just always compare prices, especially now, when they are constantly changing. That said, I’ve found that for me, Azure is usually cheaper.
The jars are useful for items you use up quickly but remind your viewers that they are not airtight. Flour in the gallon, if you make bread daily ... yes. Corn kernels in the gallon if you don't eat a lot of popcorn ... no.
I usually watch videos about everything scratch-made and wonder why I have never come across your channel before now. I was led here by the Azure standard website suggested videos and I am really glad I came here. I have never used Azure standard before but have always wanted to try them. Thank you for showing your five biggest mistakes because it made me realize that I need to plan things out a little better. I was only placing a relatively small order thinking it would give me a chance to see how everything works. Also, I would be on my own to pick things up because my son and husband were not going to be available to go with me. I could definitely help out some but my mobility is very limited. Also, our cutoff date is in three days and I have noticed that there are already a few things on my list that may not be available. So I have decided to postpone my order for now and place a larger order later when one or both of my guys can come with me. For the same price as one of those gallon sized jar and lids you could buy a gallon size jar of Mt Olive whole dill pickles and get the jar and lid for free.
I store my sourdough starter in a quart jar and pour into a bowl to feed to make bread. Now, thanks to you bringing it to my realization, I will use a half gal jar (which I already have) for both. One less dish to wash. Thanks!
I love Azure Standard. The quality is amazing. My drop is 30-45 min away depending upon traffic, we have 1 drop per month. Each month I find myself converting grocery store stuff to Azure items. I recently purchased 25lbs organic golden beets grown in USA. I diced, blanched and froze them for use. They are so good.
I’m addicted to filling my azure cart but have yet to actually send the order! I even have a drop right by my house! Love the company and this video! :)

Hello Staci from our farm in New Hampshire! Brand new to your channel. Thanks so much for sharing about Azure. I have their 2015 catalog. That was the last time I tried to find a drop ship point in New Hampshire, but that looks like it is improving. Those half gallon jars are practical. I have Ball wide mouth 1/2 gallon jars because I can vacuum seal them, but they can be a challenge to get into. You may smile when I tell you that I am an Original Mother Earther. We had drop ships from Erwon in the 1970s. I still remember that a gallon glass jar holds 12 lbs of honey! I am happy to see this service. Back then, we did not order anything refrigerated or frozen. Again, thank you for this helpful video. I look forward to following your channel. ~ Diane

I love wild rice. I add cooked wild rice to my cornbread thanksgiving stuffing. And Its great in soups like chicken mushroom soup. Wild rice and mushrooms are natural complements.
I've just signed up for Azure. I'm pleasantly surprised because the drop-off location is only 3 miles from my house. I'm going to make sure it's still a drop-off location before I place an order. I hope so! Between Azure and Thrive Market I'll have some really nice products. I don't like Thrive's autoship option because once you use it it's hard to go back to regular ordering. When I have solid blocks of frozen products I gently drop the whole package onto the floor from a couple of feet up. (I'd recommend the garage floor so you don't break any tile if you have it in your kitchen.) You can wipe off any dirt that's on the bag after it's been on the floor. If you drop it from too high off of the floor or throw it down instead of gently dropping it you might make a tear in the bag. If you do, you can put the food into smaller freezer bags or cartons.
I’m in! Thank you for this fantastic video! I’ve had several things sitting in my azure cart for the last couple months but have been on the fence about actually ordering. Adding more to my cart and ordering next month!
We have a 30 minute drive. Purchased frozen raspberries and other berries but it was winter time. Below freezing temps. The berries came frozen individually, which makes using them super nice.
I also LOVE those storage jars! I've seen those raspberries in other drops and they were separated and gorgeous. I buy the pieces because I buy them for jam & smoothies and I'm breaking them up anyways, so I don't need perfect berries. When I get home, I break out some into individual packets for smoothies and put the rest in the freezer for when I make jam. One error that may not have happened to you as your last name is somewhat unique and your personal drop areas look to be pretty separated. My drop goes by first names and our areas are along a wall pretty close together. There are 2 of my first name in my drop, and I have accidentally gotten her items mixed with mine. I now am very careful picking up my boxes to check the full name listed. Found this by getting to the car and opening boxes to put frozen / fridge in cooler and padded bag - tore a bit open and didn't recognize the item. Checked the full name, and sure enough, not mine. Back to the load zone and very embarrassedly put her partly torn open box in her stack and notified the drop coordinator about the error and apologized for opening her box. So, yea - double check the full name on every item as you pick it up to go to the car and know exactly how many boxes in your order from the confirmation email. Not everyone helping is careful. If it hadn't been a cold item, I may not have found it until I got home - a 45-minute drive away.
Thanks for the tips! A tip for you if your frozen items melt together again you can spread them out on baking sheets and re-freeze that way. Once they are frozen you can re-bag them. 🤓
Thank you!! This has been so helpful! I've been wanting to start with Azure, but unsure how it all works! 30 min to our drop location,, so not too difficult! I'm off to watch your other videos!!
I've only recently heard about Azure and I would love to start purchasing from there!! Finding natural things in stores can be so difficult and also it's quite a trek to get from my house to those stores😂
In several west coast states, there's a WinCo that has fairly competitive prices for dry goods. One of the employees mentioned you can order stuff in bulk, and get it in a few days as well. I haven't actually done this personally, and something else they told me wrt their online web site didn't pan out, so check first personally.
So glad I found this video today. Your tip on ordering the largest quantity category is very smart! Also, I will absolutely be trying your Lara bar recipe, thank you! Subscribed!
Oh wow! That sounds like a time consuming way to do the drops! Last month we had about 30 people picking up, and from pull in to everyone being loaded up and truck ready to pull out was about 20-25 minutes. Typically we just do the pull and shout method. Lol. If someone had a big pickup they get as close to the truck as possible, and people learn their name pretty quick and we daisy chain stuff to their vehicle (last month someone bought 31 50 lb. Bags of food). But some of our people aren't physically able to do the lifting either, so maybe that is why we just kind of pitch in if we can. 🤷♀️
thats how we do our drop. we have 2 or 3 at the back of the truck and shout names. if you arent there we have a firemans line and just place on the ground. we used to take the time to put by name in piles but then folks were being lazy and not showing on time, and it isnt fair for those who are there on time to help unload the truck.so now it just goes on the ground and you would have to look for it. most people on my drop dont help. we have a pretty big drop plus we havent been able toget most of the stuff we order for the last 4 months. we are on the east coast, so it is like we are the last of the deliveries.
We have a drop about 30 minutes from where we live. I have an account but haven’t yet ordered from Azure. I would really like to begin utilizing it, and your list of items you buy will really be helpful. Thank you!

I have been looking to shop on Azure Standard and your tips are just what I need!! Thank you for your video and guidance!
Congrats! And that is so awesome that you are starting your homestead and not letting the HOA stand in your way. I really believe that homesteading starts in the kitchen anyway, and we all have one of those! Also, glad you found the video helpful!
I joined a drop location further from me because the one closest to me has a no mask policy, i.e., anyone who wants to wear a mask is not allowed. I spoke to the coordinator of the drop I joined and she's super nice. However, I didn't know until your video that we were supposed to help unload the truck. I am okay with it and am glad I know now so I can dress for labor 🤣.
I always like seeing what other people are getting on Azure. It sometimes reminds me of things I purchase regularly that may be cheaper or better quality from Azure so I can check that out on my next Azure order.
That is true about keeping track of what you actually receive at the drop point. Twice I ordered 55 gallon drums and didn't get them but they were charged to me. Now I make sure I get every item. The driver told me that those heavy types of items get taken off if the weight of everyone's order gets too heavy for the truck.

I'm In!! We just started with Azure and already love it!
Perfect!
~ Diane
I'm IN! I am literally less than 2 minutes away from the Azure Stop! Soooo LUCKY! This is the first time I have seen your channel. Looking forward to seeing all of your videos!
I love Azure!! Been using them for about 16 years. ❤️
Wow, that's awesome!
I’m in!
Thanks for sharing such useful information! I’m new to Azure but I sure am loving it!!
Great! I'm so glad you found it helpful!
I'm in!
I was working on my order while listening to your video. I think I finally found someone that can help me by going to pick the order up and help in my place. Finally! Praise God!
Oh perfect!! 👏
Great tips when shopping Azure Standard. I've been a customer for 20 plus years and your helpful advice is spot on!
Thank you! And wow, I thought I was a long-time customer, that's great!
This is so helpful! I’ve looked into Azure and found the closest drop! However, I have no idea where to start! Thank you!
I'm so glad you found it helpful! Also, I have another Azure video that goes more in-depth into the process and some additional tips. I'll leave you the link! th-cam.com/video/T5bDa65cVNM/w-d-xo.html
I wish I had found you last year. Thank you very educational information.
I'm so glad you enjoyed it! I also just made another Azure haul video and I give a tour of my cellar and our year's worth of food storage. Here is that link if you want to check it out: th-cam.com/video/oJkQ2UO5_V4/w-d-xo.html
Perfect! You will be hooked once you do!
We have a 30 minute drive. Purchased frozen raspberries and other berries but it was winter time. Below freezing temps. The berries came frozen individually, which makes using them super nice.
Great to hear! I will definitely bring a cooler next time.
First time viewer. Information packed video thanks for sharing
Oh no! Yes, doing it by last name seems silly, but glad you caught it.
Thank you! I just did my first Azure order and picked it up Monday and I loved it!
Awesome!
I love Azure Standard for our family! It has changed our grocery shopping immensely! And we're eating so much healthier
Yes! Azure is amazing!
Thank you for the info! My family is making the transition to being more self sufficient and this helps a lot!
So glad it was helpful!
Thanks for the tips! A tip for you if your frozen items melt together again you can spread them out on baking sheets and re-freeze that way. Once they are frozen you can re-bag them. 🤓
Great idea, thank you!
I'm in🙌🙌🙌 thank you for sharing, had my first azure pickup last month & I'm hooked.
Yay! Good to hear!
Thank you for explaining what the items are and how you use them. Very informative.
I’m do glad you found it helpful!
I’m in!
Love the frozen raspberry’s from azure. I put them in the blender and my kids think it’s ice cream! Just got the honey this past order to try!
Great! And yes, I love their frozen fruit.... just might have to use a mallet to break off chunks this time.😜
I found that an ice pick works really well on the lump of raspberries 😅
I am in. Just found your channel tonight. Thank you for all the information.
Thank you for the tips!! Put our first haul in yesterday. Great advice!!
I’m glad you found it helpful!
Thank you!! This has been so helpful! I've been wanting to start with Azure, but unsure how it all works! 30 min to our drop location,, so not too difficult! I'm off to watch your other videos!!
Perfect! Once you place your first order you will be hooked!
I’m so glad I watched this before I place my order!
Oh good! I'm glad it was helpful.
I love your helpful hints about azure. I recently found out about this. Thank you
I'm so glad you enjoyed them! I just put out a new Azure video and cellar tour today! th-cam.com/video/oJkQ2UO5_V4/w-d-xo.html
I've only recently heard about Azure and I would love to start purchasing from there!! Finding natural things in stores can be so difficult and also it's quite a trek to get from my house to those stores😂
Ha, I hear ya! I absolutely love ordering every thing I need and having it show up at one place where I can put it in my car and head back home!
Yay!!! Thankyou for doing this! I just placed my first order and I am waiting for pickup date!! I am so excited!!!
In several west coast states, there's a WinCo that has fairly competitive prices for dry goods. One of the employees mentioned you can order stuff in bulk, and get it in a few days as well. I haven't actually done this personally, and something else they told me wrt their online web site didn't pan out, so check first personally.
Yes! I actually have bulk ordered from WinCo when I lived in WA and had a great experience!
So glad I found this video today. Your tip on ordering the largest quantity category is very smart! Also, I will absolutely be trying your Lara bar recipe, thank you! Subscribed!
I'm so glad you found the video helpful! Thank you for subscribing!
Love this video. Thank you for posting. I’ve always wanted to order, but never really understood how it worked.
I’m glad you liked this video! Make sure you watch my other Azure video too because it has more of the details for those that are new.
Doing our first pickup on the 16th. Really excited!
So exciting!
Yes! Love this video!! I was just starting my crazy long list of what I could switch over to Azure! Great tips and advice.
Perfect!! I love that they carry such a wide variety of healthy food and products!
We are moving to Jefferson City, TN, and I'm excited to follow your lead in ditching the grocery stores!
Yes!! 🙌 I'm excited for you!
It actually goes very quickly!
thats how we do our drop. we have 2 or 3 at the back of the truck and shout names. if you arent there we have a firemans line and just place on the ground. we used to take the time to put by name in piles but then folks were being lazy and not showing on time, and it isnt fair for those who are there on time to help unload the truck.so now it just goes on the ground and you would have to look for it. most people on my drop dont help. we have a pretty big drop plus we havent been able toget most of the stuff we order for the last 4 months. we are on the east coast, so it is like we are the last of the deliveries.
Excellent explanation on the mistakes. I learned those as well on my first few orders. Thank you for sharing!
Thank you! I'm hoping I have learned my lesson and won't make them again! 😂
We just placed our first order and I ordered the half gallon jars too! One is specifically for our sourdough starter too- lol! Great minds 😉 I’m in!
Oh, that's awesome!
I've been wanting to order for a while and now I feel more confident about what to pick. Thank you!
Perfect! I'm so glad you found this video helpful!
I am loving catching up on all your videos! Also love the idea of adding those glass storage jars!
I'm so glad you are enjoying them! And yes, the jars are amazing!
I was just looking through Azure’s website this week- all of this is really good info!! Thank you!
I'm so glad you found it helpful!
We have a drop about 30 minutes from where we live. I have an account but haven’t yet ordered from Azure. I would really like to begin utilizing it, and your list of items you buy will really be helpful. Thank you!
Perfect! You will be hooked once you do!
I’m in!!! We have a 19 month old and an 5 1/2 month pregnant with our second all while living in a urban/rural area of charleston, SC creating our little homestead(within an HOA!) I have been looking to shop on Azure Standard and your tips are just what I need!! Thank you for your video and guidance!
Congrats! And that is so awesome that you are starting your homestead and not letting the HOA stand in your way. I really believe that homesteading starts in the kitchen anyway, and we all have one of those! Also, glad you found the video helpful!
I’m in. Thanks for sharing. New to Azure so I’m excited
Love the jars and lids!! And gotta try that recipe for Lara bars!!
Yes! I keep finding new uses for them. And also, yes! 😉 They are so good!
That’s awesome! And no worries, I’m sure you have it down now. 👍🏻
I always like seeing what other people are getting on Azure. It sometimes reminds me of things I purchase regularly that may be cheaper or better quality from Azure so I can check that out on my next Azure order.
Yes! That spreadsheet and list should be in your inbox now!
I’ve tried Azur Standard for the first time this month. I was super happy with how everything went and the quality products that I received.
Yay! So good to hear you had a great experience!
Thank you for sharing these tips! I’m newer to Azure and it can be overwhelming.
I'm so glad you found this video helpful!
I love seeing what other families order; there are so many new products to try.
Me too! I keep discovering new things that they carry!
I've been eyeing Azure for a long time, but scared to make a mistake. Thanks for the tips!
I'm so glad you found it helpful! You will be love ordering from them!
That is true about keeping track of what you actually receive at the drop point. Twice I ordered 55 gallon drums and didn't get them but they were charged to me. Now I make sure I get every item. The driver told me that those heavy types of items get taken off if the weight of everyone's order gets too heavy for the truck.
Oh interesting! Yes, I've never noticed anything missing, but definitely good to keep track!
New to the channel getting ready to order my Azure and it closed on Wednesday the 3rd Nov... watching to see if I need to added anything to my order

Our family have been ordering from Azure for a few yrs. I only order about every 4 months. Due to the distance we have to drive to get our order.(1.25 hours one way). They are such a great company
Same here. It's 1.5 hours away so this is one of the reasons we only order once or twice each year. We sure love shopping with them though!
I'm in. I've used some Azure items in the past but have not yet placed my own order. It's time to do so!
Yes! You will be hooked once you do!
This was so informative! This is exactly what I was looking for! And as for the giveaway...I am in! Thank you!
