English is not only damaging French but also the other languages of world. Specially with reference to India who has languages with rich literature and ancient background but because of English today many Indian languages specially regional languages like Tamil, Telegu, Malayalam, Kannada who has very ancient history and enormous literature, today facing lots of hard ships even in their regions also. Since these languages have either no or very limited scope out of their states/provinces. Even in their own provinces, because of English their new/young generations do not show any interest in their native languages. Even the Govt official , who are mostly convent or English educated do not show any sincere interest in their own languages because they themselves do not want to work in their native languages because they do not feel comfortable in their languages. Once I went to the Tamilnadu's traditional cities Madurai and Vellore and talk to some of the English medium students and even students from Tamil schools I asked them if they have ant knowledge of following Tamil poems Netuntokai nanuru (400 long poems) Kuruntokai anuru (400 short poems) Narrinai (400 Tinai landscape poems) Purananuru (400 Outer poems) Ainkurunuru (500 very short poems) Patirruppattu (Ten Tens) Or any Idea of 5 Tamil epics Silappatikāram, Manimekalai, Cīvaka Cintāmaṇi, Valayapathi Kuṇṭalakēc Or the old literature : Tholkappiyam Surprisingly the English medium students looked at me , smiled at me and told me that they never heard these names more surprising thing is that even Tamil students do not have much knowledge about these epics, writers or poems. However most of them knew whos is GB Shaw, Bernard, Shakespeare. They also knew who wrote The tempest, Much ado about nothing and many more, even the rural students knew about English writers. I have 1st Chosen to visit Tamilnadu because I had heard that people from this state always said that they are proud of their rich and 2000, 3000 ancient literature and they always have hue and cry for their language, fight with the central/federal govt. for imposing certain language on them but neither the common person nor the Govt. never ever ever stand against English who is really responsible for destroying and damaging their rich literature. After this I realize that this only a political stunt and drama and nothing else. Sadly I had seen the same situation in Karnataka, Kerala and Andhra. I am so sad and heart broken that almost all the rich Dravidian literature is dying so fast and their politicians are making them fool by showing the fear of imposing certain Indian language on them. No doubt that we should have knowledge of modern world languages as they help us in getting jobs and in global communications but we should learn them only as one language and not chose them as medium of instructions and than try to adhere them into our personal life. I have sound knowledge of English and respect this language but at home I always speak Punjabi with my Parents and kids and with my friends I prefer to speak Hindi over English in my friend circle and when in visit Delhi and meet the friend from Bengal and Tamilnadu I try to speak in Tamil or Bangla if they have communications problems in Hindi or English. I warn every one that this is the time that we all should stood against the English monopoly ( not Language ) otherwise I will give you the guarantee that the time is not far when our languages, specially regional languages become " Once upon a time "

First of all India is India because of the unity in diversity factor that is a very alien concept in the rest of the world. And by doing these sort of things the govt is just pushing India towards disintegration and nothing else. I am a Bengali girl and this language makes up my heart, soul and body. You cannot forcefully impose something in the country tht is known to be the "largest democracy of the world." Remember why Bangladesh was created, because of this issue only. The thing is tht the more you try to grab a handful of sand the more easily and quickly is slips off of your grip. If you want india to be one forever you have to respect everyone's emotions. We are all human beings and speaking the language of our choice is our birth right. And if this keeps on going then we must be prepared for the division of our country as well and nothing else. And the person who truly respect their own mother tongue can never disrespect or disregard someone else's. And this whole concept of making India one by unifying a language is just a very uneducated way of thinking cz tht is never possible in a country like ours.
If they push hindi as national language in India then it India may divide into many countries... In that Tamil Nadu Will be the first state will be detach from union of India..hope that wont happen and delhi imperialism should not cross the limits.

Let us not get swayed away by random emotions but rather have the discussion or debate based on 'facts' and 'ethics': (1) Based on discrimination: The attempt from any Indian national Government of the day to declare Hindi as the 'national language' will make non-Hindi speaking people be treated by the Hindi-speaking people as 'second-class citizens in their own country. Hindi is NOT the mother tongue of the majority of Indians. Although English is a foreign language to Indians it acts as a good leveler in the sense that it is a foreign language to all Indians - it is foreign both to Hindi-speaking people as well as to non-Hindi-speaking people and so, everyone gets an equal opportunity to compete at anything. Replacing English with Hindi will give a massive advantage to Hindi-speaking people and this will be unfair to non-Hindi-speaking people. English is a neutral language and avoids caste/race discrimination that happens in Indian languages. (2) Based on practicality: Hindi practically has NO use in science or technology. Nobody can become a doctor/engineer/technician etc by just knowing Hindi. Hindi is just for entertainment through the overrated Bollywood insanity. English on the other hand is widely accepted on the global level and has more value to science, technology, communication, etc than any other language. English works as a link language practically. I have typed this comment on TH-cam entirely in English and people all over the world on social media communicate mostly in English. (3) Based on uniqueness: If the number of speakers is the main criterion for the greatness of a language then the 'crow' should be designated as the national bird of India and not the peacock or the 'dog' should be made the national animal of India and not the tiger. It is the uniqueness of a language that makes it great and not some population factor. If someone says that many people speak in Hindi in terms of some 40% of speakers then he/she fails to look the other way the majority of Indians (60%) don't communicate in Hindi. Hindi can mostly be read and understood only in North India, and probably in Nepal. But Tamil, on the other hand, is already official in Tamil Nadu, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Singapore, and to some extent in South Africa. Also, Tamil, Telegu, Malayalam, Kannada, Marathi, Gujarati, Punjabi, Odiya, Bangla, Aasami, Urdu, etc. are classical languages and have been in existence in history way before Hindi. (4) Based on imposition: After independence, the states in India were formed on a linguistic basis. We have a Maharashtra for Marathi-speaking people, a Gujarat for Gujarati-speaking, a Tamil Nadu for Tamil-speaking people, and so on. Then why does the Hindi belt have many states even when they say that they have Hindi as one language? That is because the influence of Rajasthani, Awadhi, Maithili, Marwadi, Bhojpuri, Santhali, etc. languages was mowed down because of Hindi imposition and they were designated to the level of just 'dialects' of Hindi. Marathi used to be written in Mudy lipi (script) in the past but because of the Devnagri script imposition back in the 1950s for a set of languages like Hindi, Marathi, Konkani, Nepali, Sanskrit, etc. Marathi, Konkani, Nepali lost their influences. The only vague defense BJP gives is the mudy script of Marathi was continuous in nature and would have been difficult to get that type-written on the press - which is an irrational argument because the same press could typewrite all the other languages like Punjabi, Urdu, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Tamil, Telegu, Odiya, Bangla, Aasami, etc. and somehow just could not do the same thing for Marathi? Marathi people are facing the crisis for the reason that they are struggling to have a script for their own official use and the average Hindi person thinks that Marathi is some kind of a 'dialect' of Hindi. How ridiculous! Marathi historically came into existence way before Hindi was 'formed'. (5) Based on the two v/s three language formula: The two-language formula 'Mother tongue language + English' is sufficient. Three language formula doesn't make sense. What the 3-language formula does is that it wants the non-Hindi speaking states to have three languages -> mother tongue for within the state communication + English for communication outside the state to the rest of the world + Hindi for communication within India with others who don't understand English. This makes the Hindi belt to be selfish to just have one language Hindi as they will not bother to study English. Why should someone from Tamil Nadu or Bengal or Maharashtra have English to communicate with the rest of the world and Hindi to communicate in India when the same Indians can try to understand basic English? English is sufficiently practical as a secondary language. (6) Based on the existing concept of India: Hindi imposition will destroy the unity in diversity of India. There had been riots over this controversy since 1937, the 1950s, and the 1960s, and might happen now or later in the future. The idea of one nation, one election, one party, one uniform, one language, etc. all this oneness stems from the BJP's RSS ideology which was inspired in turn by Nazi Germany. It is harmful, racist, religiously intolerant, linguistically chauvinistic, and detrimental in nature. Tamil Nadu will be the first state in India to secede from the Union of India if Hindi imposition ever becomes a reality. (7) Based on statistics: Migration for work happens largely from the Hindi belt to the non-Hindi speaking states and not vice versa. So, now you see how grave the problem is in the Hindi backward belt. Non-Hindi speakers' tax money is taken to promote Hindi and a less or negligible amount is spent on other languages. Also, why is the taxpayer's money spent more on the promotion of Hindi and less or negligible for other non-Hindi languages? 60% of the budget is spent on Hindi, 20% on Urdu; for Tamil, it is 0, Bangla it is 0, for other languages it is 0; why? This is an utter disgrace! (8) Based on pride and politics: Pride goes before a fall and the average Indian is somehow blind to this and ironically remains to be. It makes Indians not only hypocrites but also narcissistic to its own neighbors. This is because the current BJP government is systematically trying to keep brainwashing the mass illiterate Indians on the internet through the IT cell and in the open rallies. The current BJP government is heavily influenced by the RSS. Before World War II, the RSS leaders admired Adolf Hitler and Benito Mussolini. Golwalkar took inspiration from Hitler's ideology of racial purity. The RSS since its formation opposed joining the independence movement against the British rule of India. Excessive pride will cause India's downfall. No wonder the RSS had its roots in Nagpur within Maharashtra (Golwalkar, Savarkar, Godse, Hegdewar, etc. were Marathis) and is now making the average Maharashtrian behave diplomatically two-faced as some kind of an illogical balance in the policy of appeasement for vote bank politics. Donald Trump in the USA, Scott Morrison in Australia, and Boris Johnson in the UK caused a lot of problems due to right-winged politics. People over there realized the mistake of voting for them and then overthrew the governments and brought center-left progressive governments back to power. In India, it is a big shame that people here are still mostly illiterate, blindly religious, and emotional. (9) Based on nationalism: India as a nation is different in concept compared to European nationalism. Nations in Europe have their own national languages because the influence of other languages in their own countries was moved down by a single language when the boundaries were drawn. In the European Parliament, they still have English as a practical link language. Some people state that China, Russia, Japan, etc. take pride in having their own national languages and not English and rely on translations all the time in dealing with other countries and not using English. But the communist crazy countries or the workaholic nations treat their own people in their own countries in un-democratic ways just to somehow economically prosper by degrading human rights. One-China policy is degrading Tibet, Taiwan, Xinjiang, and Hong Kong. Japan's workaholic culture is straining the working-class people in the name of pride. Germany was the victim of Nazi ideology in the past. People all the time cannot rely on memory or machine translations/translators and waste time when the same would come naturally in simple communication by knowing basic English. Even the Chinese have started to aggressively teach their citizens English. India had prospered before on global level only because of English and now we are going back. (10) Based on globalization: Once upon a time, there was a colonial power but it's all in the past. The English people are called 'gentlemen' for a reason - although colonial they were not as racist as Germans. The British Empire in the 1920s was the largest empire in the world at any point in history. Whether you like it or not like it - it happened and people all over the world were either directly or indirectly influenced by it. The UK, the USA, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand have the English Anglosphere with more geographical areas for economic opportunities. The USA is still the major global power and the internet in the 1990s popularized English even more leading to an increase in the demand for globalization. Nationalism has become useless in the sense that no country can be self-dependent now and the 'Athmanirbhar Bharat' strategy of the BJP government is notorious in the sense that being self-dependent will first hypocritically rely on Russia, USA, etc. for defense from China OR it will replenish the resources of the non-Hindi states to feed the needs of the impoverished Hindi states.
The opposition to three-language policy, prominence given to Sanskrit over and above Tamil and other languages and trying to impose Hindi as National language is against social justice, federalism, pluralism and equality (whether it is Congress or BJP). This is purely dictatorship by the union government.

After accepting Hindi through out the country, some people could not guess what the danger would be. Later is it possible for non hindi speaking people to compete in all aspects specifically in competitive exams with people whose mother tongue is HINDI. For hindi speaking people , it is mother tongue and for us it is foreign language. In any competition there should be level playing field for justice / unbiased competition. More importantly non hindi speaking people will become second class citizens .

For the purpose of interacting with anyone across the nation, yes, one should learn Hindi in the current day context. But the recommendation for implementing Hindi as medium of instruction in IITs and IIMs will entirely block the gate for Tamils and students of entire southern states. Most of the north Indian students who are even doctorates in various disciplines can not properly read, write or speak in English. Even during viva for civil services, an interpreter is provided to assist to assist the aspirants in the interview. Instead of improving the standard of English, the current dispensation is contemplating to introduce Hindi as medium of instructions in the institute of higher learning. Even if Hindi were to be in place in Tamilnadu, it would be one language paper for the students and it wouldn't have found its place in learning other subjects. The venture of Amit Shah headed committee will not only face stiff opposition from Tamilnadu and this action would make the people of southern states to unitedly fight against the move of the Centre till it scraps the recommendation since it takes away the liberty of studying in English in IITs and IIMs. Anyway, BJP has given a wonderful subject to DMK to salvage all the 40 loksabha seats in the 2024 election. Shri Annamalai, though a new entrant to BJP from Tamilnadu, Shri Amit Shah could have solicited his opinion as to the implementation of the recommendation of the committee in introducing Hindi in IITs and IIMs. In the opinion of many in Tamilnadu, BJP is devoid of intellectuals politically and educationally to a larger extent.

Well spoke A. saravanan I'm happy for taking out Kannada name, thank U.
Well said sister
They cannot impose. We will declare freedom
Hindi in IITs, please no.
If they push hindi as national language in India then it India may divide into many countries...
In that Tamil Nadu Will be the first state will be detach from union of India..hope that wont happen and delhi imperialism should not cross the limits.
Hope our Telugu people get liberated as well
Kerala too
Linguistic states must protect their Mother Tongues from the onslaught of the marauding Hindhi viciously pushed and forced by BJP.
sadly, Telugu people aren't actively protesting this. They have to learn from Tamils. I'm a Telugu myself and I'm seeing my mother tongue lose respect and die, helplessly.
We south indians never allow Hindi imposition....we will chase away Hindi imposition
This is a joke even shah knows it's not possible
Hindi dint even exist while othr Indian languages wrote poems and scriptures..
Its stupidity to communicate in such language
I hope Mr Vaddkan is not able to put his points in Hindi as he is able to deliberate in English.Hindi is a mixer but other classical languages are pure.
Many people do not understand Hindi in India. Even educated people. If you instruct in Hindi how are we suppose to understand what is being taught? Should we all fail?
Learn hindi to buy panipuri and to communicate with chapris 😂😂😂
Vaddakan means man belongs to North in Tamil ....do you know any question raised by MP'S in South , the answer is in hindi ??
All central Govt schemes..this yojna...that yojna....can anyone understand...why cant they name them in local languages ?? If this is not imposition then what is ???
Soon the Union Government will realise that imposing Hindi in IIT, IIM etc. in South India particularly will be a misadventure.
We only recommened not imposing hindi is like camel entering into tent. Why the hell these BJP makes such a recommendations. Modi and co is spoiling the nation
Let them do. North will compeletly forget english. The global firm's eye will turn towards south for englis known workforce. Already that's what the scenerio right now. Let them do happily. I am not against north. Still central imposing it. Even in National exams questions have appeared only in hindi and english. We are feeling like betrayed. They are once again pulling back underdeveloped states.
Correct
Marathi was widely spoken in MP at time of Rani Ahilyabai Holkars time, so why can't u teach Marathi there? No need of hindi then!
What about various dialects which hindi alone is killing in up and bihar?
Mr. Vadakans response would not have been sane, if he had remained in congress.

Vadakkan means northe ... good representation 🤣🤣🤣
Teach south Indian language to hindi belt...
@Learn Analyze crap power bhayas
Let us not get swayed away by random emotions but rather have the discussion or debate based on 'facts' and 'ethics':
(1) Based on discrimination:
The attempt from any Indian national Government of the day to declare Hindi as the 'national language' will make non-Hindi speaking people be treated by the Hindi-speaking people as 'second-class citizens in their own country.
(2) Based on practicality:
Hindi practically has NO use in science or technology.
(3) Based on uniqueness:
If the number of speakers is the main criterion for the greatness of a language then the 'crow' should be designated as the national bird of India and not the peacock or the 'dog' should be made the national animal of India and not the tiger.
(4) Based on imposition:
After independence, the states in India were formed on a linguistic basis.
(5) Based on the two v/s three language formula:
The two-language formula 'Mother tongue language + English' is sufficient.
(6) Based on the existing concept of India:
Hindi imposition will destroy the unity in diversity of India.
(7) Based on statistics:
Migration for work happens largely from the Hindi belt to the non-Hindi speaking states and not vice versa.
(8) Based on pride and politics:
Pride goes before a fall and the average Indian is somehow blind to this and ironically remains to be.
(9) Based on nationalism:
India as a nation is different in concept compared to European nationalism.
(10) Based on globalization:
Once upon a time, there was a colonial power but it's all in the past.
Hindi is capable of dividing India into peaces
Hindi people work in south India as a labour,, so you ask use to learn servent language
The opposition to three-language policy, prominence given to Sanskrit over and above Tamil and other languages and trying to impose Hindi as National language is against social justice, federalism, pluralism and equality (whether it is Congress or BJP). This is purely dictatorship by the union government.
Why is this a question? When in Rome do what the Romans do. When in Tamil Nadu, speak Tamil ❤
If Hindi is imposed, southern India will divide from India. This bjp is carving the path for it. Amit shsh is idiot. English is the only thing we gained from british, dont lose it idiots. அட கொக்கா மக்கா அவன் பெயரே tom வடக்கன் 😂😂😂 வேடிக்கைதான் மக்களே

North Indians , who opt to learn only in Hindi , should not be admitted to institutions in Tamil Nadu where the medium of instruction is English.
Amitsha is opposing english because he& his family is very poor in English.
If Hindi can be better than English in higher learning - Implement completely Hindi based higher education in the Gangetic belt and prove by showing UP and Bihar does better than the Coastal states (Gujarat to WestBengal along the coast).
Don't destroy what's there instead build new in the proposed formula and show it's better - Then people will follow voluntarily. DON'T FORCE. SHOW BY EXAMPLE. Gangetic belt has more population than USA.

Even the Govt official , who are mostly convent or English educated do not show any sincere
interest in their own languages because they themselves do not want to work in their native languages
because they do not feel comfortable in their languages. Once I went to the Tamilnadu's traditional cities
Madurai and Vellore and talk to some of the English medium students and even students from Tamil schools I asked them if they have ant knowledge of following Tamil poems
Netuntokai nanuru (400 long poems)
Kuruntokai anuru (400 short poems)
Narrinai (400 Tinai landscape poems)
Purananuru (400 Outer poems)
Ainkurunuru (500 very short poems)
Patirruppattu (Ten Tens)
Or any Idea of 5 Tamil epics
Silappatikāram,
Manimekalai,
Cīvaka Cintāmaṇi,
Valayapathi
Kuṇṭalakēc
Or the old literature : Tholkappiyam
Surprisingly the English medium students looked at me , smiled at me and told me that they never heard these names more surprising thing is that even Tamil students do not have much knowledge about these epics, writers or poems. However most of them knew whos is GB Shaw, Bernard, Shakespeare. They also knew who wrote The tempest, Much ado about nothing and many more, even the rural students knew about English writers. I have 1st Chosen to visit Tamilnadu because I had heard that people from this state
always said that they are proud of their rich and 2000, 3000 ancient literature and they always have hue and cry for their language, fight with the central/federal govt. for imposing certain language on them but neither the common person nor the Govt. never ever ever stand against English who is really responsible for destroying and damaging their rich literature. After this I realize that this only a political stunt and drama and nothing else. Sadly I had seen the same situation in Karnataka, Kerala and Andhra. I am so sad
and heart broken that almost all the rich Dravidian literature is dying so fast and their politicians are making them fool by showing the fear of imposing certain Indian language on them. No doubt that we should have knowledge of modern world languages as they help us in getting jobs and in global communications but we should learn them only as one language and not chose them as medium of instructions and than try to adhere them into our personal life. I have sound knowledge of English and respect this language but at home I always speak Punjabi with my Parents and kids and with my friends
I prefer to speak Hindi over English in my friend circle and when in visit Delhi and meet the friend from
Bengal and Tamilnadu I try to speak in Tamil or Bangla if they have communications problems in Hindi or English. I warn every one that this is the time that we all should stood against the English monopoly ( not Language ) otherwise I will give you the guarantee that the time is not far when our languages, specially
regional languages become " Once upon a time "
After accepting Hindi through out the country, some people could not guess what the danger would be.
As a Tamil, I never allow , some parsi Turkish language (Hindi) take over my Dravidian pride languages.....
Hindi is not a regional language of any state. Hindi not mother language of any indian state.
In Karnataka actually Congress imposed Hindi in the name of Three language formula. Now playing double game
3 languages is fine. But instructing strictly in Hindi is disadvantageous for non Hindi students
That's the reason why Karnataka, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh people know Hindi very well due to 3 language formula

Then regroup all states and make India a unitary government, lets not forget states were separated on the basis of language.
