9:11 No, not in my opinion, Sonic Generations was a 20th anniversary title, Origins is a collection of the DEFINITIVE ways to play the classic games, which we mostly only got ports of, Mania was made in commemoration of the 25th anniversary, where as Classic Sonic was just in Forces for no apparent reason, and he didn't even have to be there
Finally someone who can appreciate Sonic Origins 😭 had it stayed in the state it released in, yeah it would suck. But they fixed most major issues and it's a great compilation with a surprising amount of extra stuff! Great vid

The only problem is the replaced music in sonic 3k but it doesn’t drag the whole game down plus if u on ps5 or Xbox u can play Spotify of the og music over the game so yea

Hear me out, but some of the enemies just really make me grind my gears. I’m sure if I spent more time with the game and just enjoyed it, I’d probably get over myself haha

Dlc with new characters, 4 player splitscreen, free PUYO PUYO SIMULATO- I DUNNO MAN

I can appreciate the passion that went into Mania and I’m sure if I spent more time with it and not worrying about trophies, I’d get good and actually enjoy it for the most part

I never thought I'd ever see a review placing Sonic Superstars above Sonic Mania. I'm not even going to argue. It's just neat to finally find a person holding that specific opinion.
I truly can't say which platinum i hated the most. I've already platinum Sonic Forces and man if that platinum wasn't good. BUT SONIC SUPERSTARS PLATINUM. HOLY SHIT DUDE AFTER PRESS FACTORY THE GAME TURNS INTO A NON STOP PAIN IN THE BUTT. I'm on my way to platinum sonic superstars but i just wanted to mention that yesterday i got the "All in a day's work" trophy, The thing is i actually got the trophy without getting any of the 5 "Kill the enemy with the special ability from a character" So that can only mean two things. The trophies are bugged (If that's the case i'm going to jump of a building.) or i'm just stupid enough to kill 1000 enemies but not getting a single one of those trophies I also recently platinum Sonic Frontiers and it was fun (i guess?) This problem that i had with sonic superstars reminds me of my Sonic Mania Bugged trophies. (I hate my luck.) I'll see if i can platinum sonic superstars before february so.. See ya' 😅
Frontiers had an additional campaign at the end for free and had a newer ending and a new boss fight which actually let sage live and could let you play as tails, knuckles, and amy
cool video. I just watched the first sonic movie and it's made me more interested in the series so I looked up some videos about the games and this was a nice rundown for modern Gen, especially as a trophy hunter. good stuff, I might have to grab the og trilogy next sale
yeah i wasnt surprised that u bailed on the team sonic racing platinum. as a big sonic fan AND a trophy hunter it was one of the only platinums that broke me and one of the many sonic games that disappointed me. big ups for trying though

I wanted to play Origins so bad but that price tag was INSANEEEEE Especially since I remember the time Mega Collection came out on PS2 and ooooh boy the value I gotta pick this one up now
For some of the games that have a PS4 and PS5 version, you can buy the disc for the PS4 version, complete it, upgrade the disc the to PS5 version, and then it should unlock all the trophies for that version as well.
@kommissar.murphy They're considered separate platinums so some people consider them as separate games. It also adds to your total trophy count and level.
Nice list, only problem is that I think sonic mania is DEF NOT c tier some bosses are infuriating but every boss has it’s own thing, like eggman in chemical plant, even the ACTS have theyre own thing, so nothing feels the same. So many little easter eggs, perfect soundtrack, it’s like a bunch of sonic fans came together and made one game!
Fair take! Mania was definitely crafted with lots of love and I should go back and play it without the stress of trophy hunting to just appreciate the game for what it is
tbh sonic cd is one of my favorites because i love going to the past to find the metal sonic holograms and robot generators and destroying them so i can get good futures since the good futures are honestly buitiful

Actually, 19:19 they made Cyberspace last. Originally it was just the Open Zone but sega wanted to add traditional stages pretty late in development. Hence why they are reused designs and themes
Dang that hurt I really like sonic forces. It wasn’t that bad of a game. I just needed a sonic game to keep me entertained because I already finished sonic colors generations and unleashed. I can agree with you that the dialogue was kind of cheesy but overall it was not a bad game, but we did not need to have that shadow DLC. I feel like it would’ve been just normal. Just implement him into the game and it would’ve been really cool if we got to see some of the other characters, you know just thought
Sonic forces wishes to game I could find time to like and enjoy. Don’t get me wrong. You had a lot of flaws, but I decided to look past those just for the sake of having fun in the game. You most likely didn’t see that you had to platinum I did not.

I gotta say, your decision to not platinum Team Sonic Racing was a good decision. It is the only Sonic platinum I own and it was one of the worst platinum experiences of my life and I have 170 platinums. The worst parts are the Ring challenges which require basically perfect driving, and the races on the hardest difficulty which can be failed because your teammates just sucked, doesn't matter if you stayed in 1st place in every race
Sonic frontiers is still my favourite! Shadow Generations is still great though! This game is awesome! I still play it and have poured hundreds of hours into it! I just love running around the open zones and completing those platforming challenges! While the platforms are scattered around with seemingly no cohesion, I think they're still well designed and add to that mystery of looking AI generated, which helps with the backstory of Sage, and I don't mind the platforms being suspended above the ground, as I still think the game looks great. There's just something about it, the aesthetic and the music, and especially the story, that makes me want to keep playing it. The enemy and boss designs are stellar. The titan fights are highlights, though gameplay wise, they are really easy. I agree about Cyberspace, and I don't mind them reusing old levels as long as they are fun. I wish the combat was a little better, and Sonic's parry timing should be changed across each difficulty. It's bizarre that they didn't do it for Sonic yet for other characters they did. With the latest patch, the physics are better, it's less buggy, but the difficulty has been eased, which was in response to the complaints from fans, but I wish they did that as a choice, rather than replacing the previous difficulty. But despite that, I think this is better than Shadow Generations. I think it has the soul of an open world Sonic game. Though I do wish they'd further update it a little more, as it would be perfect for me. Do you think they'll still update or patch this in the near future? I'd love it if they could fix the pop-in. I can't believe it's been a year since the best Sonic game got the best update! I find all playable characters fun to play, though not as much as Sonic, of course. They made the platforming challenges much harder and more open-ended, less linear than previous ones, which were too simple and automated. The new ending is a mixed bag for me. But the story is even better than before. What makes this game better than others is that I think it does playable characters the best. It also doesn't waste your playtime with non Sonic gimmicks as much as otherSonic games, especially Adventures 1 and 2, and Sonic feels great and fast to control. I disagree heavily when people say it's a Breath of the Wild ripoff as while it's clearly inspired, it also has a lot of differences, and I think I like it more. I even like that some challenges make use of momentum and make you think outside the box. The puzzles are mostly not challenging, but more like movement exercises, and i don't mind doing them. Overall, a masterpiece ✨️ Yeah, I don't mind the reusing of level layouts as the new movement makes it feel different. I similarly don't mind the koco quests, with most being optional, as long as they're not too annoying or pacebreaking. The worst part is probably the pinball minigame or the laser puzzle or the crane task. Cyberspace looks exactly like Generations, but I do like how they at least added the digital effect to make it feel new. Also, I like the presentation. I think the animations are quite good in general, better than in previous games, and I don't mind the realistic artstyle. While it's a triple A game, I do wish there were some CGI cutscenes, but that's probably because of the day-night system, so everything runs in real-time. As I said before, I really liked Frontiers, and it was almost perfect. In my opinion, it can only get better, not worse. Forces, while I think it's very overhated, and I kinda like it, I also find it kinda hard to defend, and I feel it was the dip in budget and quality and passion, it terms of both gameplay, design, story, and presentation, even though I don't think it's souless or lazy like many say. Frontiers, to me, felt like a high budget game, even though some corners were clearly cut. Not to be a blatant hater, but I don't think we'll ever return to that dip of content in the 2010s, as while I think saying it was the definition of mediocrity is a bit harsh, I don't think you could get worse than that. The next mainline game might not always be better than the last, but at least it won't ever be of that quality, let alone worse. Frontiers might have been great, but it can only get better, and that's hard to imagine!
I love the passion for Frontiers! It’s definitely a great game to play and I think the game does deserve more praise! I’m a big fan of your perspective on things, especially since you can acknowledge its faults, but still find the game very fun to play. I don’t think we’ll see another update to this game, but maybe one day we’ll get a sequel of some sort to it? I need to get frontiers at somepoint. cause ngl i want to run through the game with the rathalos armor mainly because im a monster hunter fan. Plus its the 2nd game were sonic deck out in armor. Which reminds me with all the internet talk about old sonic game remakes or remaster games i would 100% throw black knight in the remake side of things

well for my opinions about each sonic games I think all of them are just fucking perfect in thier ways but if I were to say my favorites is sonic superstars even though I have not played it yet since I seen so much coolness from it and my first one is sonic x shadow generations because it has sonic generations which I played back then on the Xbox 360 when I was a kid and I will plan to play both also great explanations on each gameplays of the videos bro

@ well sonic 1,2 and CD are definitely not better The only argument for origins is sonic 3 and knuckles. And at that point, it’s just personal preference. Me personally I had a lot more fun with sonic mania.

Booooooo! - skipped Team Racing, even though it apparently sucks and is an awful grind and has really annoying trophies that require 3 controllers and couch co-op and other awful shiz... yeah fair enough. BTW if you decide to do the Jak & Daxter series, their racing title is actually hella good, possibly the best game of the franchise.
Trust me, I did want to complete it, but just couldn’t do it for the challenge haha. And good to know! I played through the Jak & Daxter trilogy on PS3 back in the day, but I’ve been considering revisiting the series sometime soon!

I'm one of four people on the Xbox side of the train tracks to have every achievement in every Sonic title, including Windows Phone. 🥲 Team Sonic Racing is rough, but genuinely, Sonic Racing Transformed on PS3 is significantly more difficult. The PS3 Sonic Platinums are brutal! At the very least, you all don't have to suffer through completing Sonic 06 and Sonic Free Riders. 😂

In the process of doing this same challenge myself. About a third of the way through Origins. Sonic 1 kinda sucked tbh. Sonic CD is one of the worst games I've ever played. The devs should be ashamed of themselves.

For some of the games that have a PS4 and PS5 version, you can buy the disc for the PS4 version, complete it, upgrade the disc the to PS5 version, and then it should unlock all the trophies for that version as well.
What is the benefit of doing that?

some bosses are infuriating but every boss has it’s own thing, like eggman in chemical plant, even the ACTS have theyre own thing, so nothing feels the same. So many little easter eggs, perfect soundtrack, it’s like a bunch of sonic fans came together and made one game!
Fair take! Mania was definitely crafted with lots of love and I should go back and play it without the stress of trophy hunting to just appreciate the game for what it is
tbh sonic cd is one of my favorites because i love going to the past to find the metal sonic holograms and robot generators and destroying them so i can get good futures since the good futures are honestly buitiful

Dang that hurt I really like sonic forces. It wasn’t that bad of a game. I just needed a sonic game to keep me entertained because I already finished sonic colors generations and unleashed. I can agree with you that the dialogue was kind of cheesy but overall it was not a bad game, but we did not need to have that shadow DLC. I feel like it would’ve been just normal. Just implement him into the game and it would’ve been really cool if we got to see some of the other characters, you know just thought

Sonic forces wishes to game I could find time to like and enjoy. Don’t get me wrong. You had a lot of flaws, but I decided to look past those just for the sake of having fun in the game. You most likely didn’t see that you had to platinum I did not.

I gotta say, your decision to not platinum Team Sonic Racing was a good decision. It is the only Sonic platinum I own and it was one of the worst platinum experiences of my life and I have 170 platinums. The worst parts are the Ring challenges which require basically perfect driving, and the races on the hardest difficulty which can be failed because your teammates just sucked, doesn't matter if you stayed in 1st place in every race

Sonic frontiers is still my favourite! Shadow Generations is still great though! This game is awesome! I still play it and have poured hundreds of hours into it! I just love running around the open zones and completing those platforming challenges! While the platforms are scattered around with seemingly no cohesion, I think they're still well designed and add to that mystery of looking AI generated, which helps with the backstory of Sage, and I don't mind the platforms being suspended above the ground, as I still think the game looks great. There's just something about it, the aesthetic and the music, and especially the story, that makes me want to keep playing it. The enemy and boss designs are stellar. The titan fights are highlights, though gameplay wise, they are really easy. I agree about Cyberspace, and I don't mind them reusing old levels as long as they are fun. I wish the combat was a little better, and Sonic's parry timing should be changed across each difficulty. It's bizarre that they didn't do it for Sonic yet for other characters they did. With the latest patch, the physics are better, it's less buggy, but the difficulty has been eased, which was in response to the complaints from fans, but I wish they did that as a choice, rather than replacing the previous difficulty. But despite that, I think this is better than Shadow Generations. I think it has the soul of an open world Sonic game. Though I do wish they'd further update it a little more, as it would be perfect for me. Do you think they'll still update or patch this in the near future? I'd love it if they could fix the pop-in.
I can't believe it's been a year since the best Sonic game got the best update! I find all playable characters fun to play, though not as much as Sonic, of course. They made the platforming challenges much harder and more open-ended, less linear than previous ones, which were too simple and automated. The new ending is a mixed bag for me. But the story is even better than before. What makes this game better than others is that I think it does playable characters the best. It also doesn't waste your playtime with non Sonic gimmicks as much as otherSonic games, especially Adventures 1 and 2, and Sonic feels great and fast to control. I disagree heavily when people say it's a Breath of the Wild ripoff as while it's clearly inspired, it also has a lot of differences, and I think I like it more. I even like that some challenges make use of momentum and make you think outside the box. The puzzles are mostly not challenging, but more like movement exercises, and i don't mind doing them. Overall, a masterpiece ✨️
Yeah, I don't mind the reusing of level layouts as the new movement makes it feel different. I similarly don't mind the koco quests, with most being optional, as long as they're not too annoying or pacebreaking. The worst part is probably the pinball minigame or the laser puzzle or the crane task. Cyberspace looks exactly like Generations, but I do like how they at least added the digital effect to make it feel new. Also, I like the presentation. I think the animations are quite good in general, better than in previous games, and I don't mind the realistic artstyle. While it's a triple A game, I do wish there were some CGI cutscenes, but that's probably because of the day-night system, so everything runs in real-time.
As I said before, I really liked Frontiers, and it was almost perfect. In my opinion, it can only get better, not worse. Forces, while I think it's very overhated, and I kinda like it, I also find it kinda hard to defend, and I feel it was the dip in budget and quality and passion, it terms of both gameplay, design, story, and presentation, even though I don't think it's souless or lazy like many say. Frontiers, to me, felt like a high budget game, even though some corners were clearly cut. Not to be a blatant hater, but I don't think we'll ever return to that dip of content in the 2010s, as while I think saying it was the definition of mediocrity is a bit harsh, I don't think you could get worse than that. The next mainline game might not always be better than the last, but at least it won't ever be of that quality, let alone worse. Frontiers might have been great, but it can only get better, and that's hard to imagine!

I’m a big fan of your perspective on things, especially since you can acknowledge its faults, but still find the game very fun to play. I don’t think we’ll see another update to this game, but maybe one day we’ll get a sequel of some sort to it? I think with a bit more quality and budget, it could truly shine! I like it more than Breath of the Wild! But yeah, we'll get a sequel to it for sure. It'll probably introduce a new character or be placed on a different island, but the rumours are looking exciting for sure! I can't wait to see what's next on offer! BTW if you decide to do the Jak & Daxter series, their racing title is actually hella good, possibly the best game of the franchise.
Trust me, I did want to complete it, but just couldn’t do it for the challenge haha.
And good to know! I played through the Jak & Daxter trilogy on PS3 back in the day, but I’ve been considering revisiting the series sometime soon!

In the process of doing this same challenge myself. About a third of the way through Origins. Sonic 1 kinda sucked tbh. Sonic CD is one of the worst games I've ever played. The devs should be ashamed of themselves.
