    When I was young I had a person break into my house at night, he was running from the cops ,broke in thru the window not even 2 seconds a k9 came in thru the window and got between me and the criminal. The dog just kept barking and barking at the guy and the dog just held him there until his handler gave a command and was arrested. My dad asked the officer why the k9 didn't attack. The officer said this dog was trained to bark and hold but if he becomes a threat the dog will attack until the handler calls him off. That dog saved my life

    Teaching a K-9 to attack and maul is literally no different than breeding a fighting dog.
    Literally ANY other dog would be put to sleep for the same behavior, regardless of its training.
    Pretending as a if a recall command works 100% of the time seems highly illogical and unreliable.
    Some of the general public and licensed dog trainers are just as valid as LEOs when it comes to instilling a dog with discipline, and can still fail at fully correcting behavior.
    Now, imagine said K-9 is put into practice, within highly intense scenarios, surrounded by officers yelling and issuing commands.
    It seems highly cruel to promote an animal to perform in high-stress environments that can potentially cut their life short in more ways than one; which does happen.
    I just don’t see how this makes sense to anyone who advocates for this?
    These are the same people that claim to love dogs, but have no problem watching them be taught to be vicious?
    Don’t even get me started on the historical intentional police use of dogs in AA communities and prior.
    The theory of intergenerational trauma also speculates that our history may be the reason why many people of similar descent show an innate fear of them, regardless of the breed.
    How about we find an alternative method for operation, rather than using another life-form that we see as family, as collateral.

      He's right. The dog's presence can often times prevent situations from escalating because the suspect doesn't want to get bit so they comply vs fighting. The visceral reaction of fear due to the K9 is much more powerful than knowing the cop has a gun, often times. The issue is the handlers using the dogs responsibly and maintaining their training- which is unfortunately up to each department to regulate internally. I say this as a civillian K9 handler. The crime doesn't fit the punishment. All you are implying, is that all Black people, have no rights. If we make a mistake, that puts us in contact with the cops, we no longer have any human rights. Again.. You ARE implying that Black people are NOT innocent, until proven guilty. However, you are also implying, that I have no right to a public trial, by an impartial jury of my peers, or even a judge.
      The police have collectively decided, that THEY will enforce, “The Speedy Trial Clause of the Sixth Amendment” They believe, that this will allow them to be the judge, jury and executioner, when they interact with the public. They feel like this is the loop hole, and you only reinforce that belief, when you make statements like this.
      The worse part? The whites seem to have no self-preservation, and act as though that are not affected by this too! Whenever Black people talk about police violence, the whites yell at us, “It happens to everyone not just the blacks”, and, “Why don’t you talk about black on black crime.” They also love to yell out, “Why don’t you talk about police crime, when it happens to white people!” But we do. Yet the only comments I will then see from the whites, are basically saying we’re being disrespectful of the hard work the cops do 🤢 When all we are doing, is complaining about police violence against us ALL. 🤮
      But if at that moment, we happen to only be talking about how policing affects Black folks? Well, then we are race baiting.
      So I have a question for the whites. Why are the higher-caste whites, so silent about state violence, on poor white folks? Why are there not more whites worried about the drugs in their neighborhoods. Or why are they only worried about drugs in their neighborhoods, now? Also, why do whites insist on focusing on marijuana? Why are the whites not demanding free mental healthcare for their youth? You know, so that they’re not unaliving themselves, or taking their guns into schools and businesses and shooting up everyone. Or terrorizing their own family!
      Why do Black people have to keep telling the whites, that this is not normal?! Why are the whites so willing to get so little from their government, while paying for it with their lives? Is it just to hurt Black people, the people apart of the LGBTQI+ community, or anyone whose views oppose theirs?
      Someone please explain this to me?
      The whites need to sit with that, unpack it, and hopefully grow. But I suppose most whites would call that being “woke”, or “forced learning of CRT”. Yes keep willfully ignoring the generational trauma, that the whites inflict on their own kids. “The blacks running from the dogs are the TEAL problem, plaguing America.” 🙄
      They are destroying their own community from within, and at this point I’m like, if they die, they die 🤷🏾‍♀️
      The last question is for my fellow Black people. Why do we keep advocating for the freedom, of a group of people, who has lost the last little bit, of their remaining common sense? They do not want our help. Some us still need to learn, that No means No. 🤷🏾‍♀️

      In this topic, you have to remove whatever biases you have towards either side and just think logically. Sometimes it’s better to listen to understand than to listen just to deflect and be combative due to your own personal biases
      Resisting is it’s own topic itself. There are thousands of police body cams, dash cams, video surveillances across the internet that show people be beaten,shot, and bitten by police dogs for NOT resisting.
      Hypothetically speaking, if there were to be a NON VIOLENT drug dealer/user or non violent criminal in general who was trying to resist and flee does that warrant being mauled by a dog? Does that warrant being shot?
      There are different protocols depending on what crime the person did and how they behave afterwards.
      If you have a robber or mass shooter who just committed murder and they resist and run, they are an immediate threat and should be shot down by police.
      These every day scenarios always consist of policeman sicking dogs on people who have drugs stashed in their property.
      What’s the point of having a judge and courts if we will just allow law enforcement to make their own judgments and punishments based on their biases?

    I feel like another thing to consider is the dog was told a command and it executed. If it weren’t for the officer’s command and release, that could have possibly prevented all of this. I agree. They train these dogs to be weapons of destruction and that's what they're going to do. They are animals, so if that's a good idea I just don't know. They seem to be very inaccurate when it comes to free air sniffs which allows a violation of our right to deny a search :(

    • @magicdolphin3090
      @magicdolphin3090 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Combat police dogs should not be used. Sniffing for bombs is one thing, training an animal to attack and hurt people is completely different. There are still many abusive training methods used on K9 units, and these dogs are put in danger. Let the humans who CHOSE to be in danger take care of it. Using a dog is cowardly and cruel. They will get just as much enjoyment doing any other job, and there is no reason to be training animals for violence. If you genuinely do care about the well-being of these dogs, you would not support it. But no, these dogs are to you what they are to the police department. Tools. Human aids. Not deserving of rights unless they serve YOU a purpose. Dogs are dogs first, companions second. They have just as much jurisdiction as you or I to be here. If you value their usefulness for us before their comfort and happiness I don't know what to say man, you are part of the issue.

  • @hoodedferret
    @hoodedferret ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Yes. Obviously yes, and it's been an obvious "yes" for almost a decade at this point. Researchers have assessed the error rate of sniffing dogs many times and the results are clear: sniffing dogs are no better than chance at detecting/distinguishing controlled substances. As for using them to attack people, I don't know why this country allows police to violate state animal welfare laws. Police K9 training programs have been repeatedly exposed for using training techniques that would be illegal under animal welfare statutes in most states, and if a dog is being used as a weapon against a dangerous person then the police are just as responsible as the dangerous person for wounding/killing that dog. This isn't even touching the base unethical nature of state authorities using dogs to detain/attack humans in general, which can result in permanent disability or death (to a person who has not even been convicted of a crime yet or given any form of due process) not to mention the unnecessary amount of pain inflicted onto people who are attacked by these dogs as police K9 officers rarely have sufficient strength/control to prevent people from being bitten multiple times before the dog is successfully pulled away. They can't even fully prevent themselves from being bitten by the dog they are supposed to control! And yes, people have died from police dog bites just as people have died from non-police dog bites, because while the bite is virtually non-fatal the secondary effects like sepsis are very much fatal if not detected and treated immediately.

      as stated in the video the dog was brought out because of the firearm found in the vehicle as well. meaning they don't know if he is still armed with another firearm and with a dog he/she has a better sense of smell at night in the darkness and can locate the person of interest that is hiding. Unfortunately, the dog can be replaced not human life. normally there is a policy that needs to be followed before a dog is even considered to be brought out. each agency may or may not have that in place or the criteria may be different. I recommend going on a ride-along at night with your local agency to see firsthand what they go through. this was a good video but as they show the total dog bite and race of the person bitten my question is what was when they shared it what was the ethnicity primarily in that area? so what's next if the K9 is removed as a tool do they take away the less lethal weapons next then the guns?
