Great tutorial! Before you disconnect the airbag you need to touch ground and discharge yourself, any minimal electrostatic could detonate the airbag. Always face it with the logo looking up and in a safe place. When you finish the job try to turn on the car with some distance from the steering wheel just in case. There are safety rules!
Thanks! When I was removing the trim without the airbag I ve lost a screw in the steering wheel and the horn started working sometimes. Thanks for tutorial to get the airbag out,it was first time and butt was hard af xd. It s working thx.
For anyone that isnt capable of removing the steering wheel or cant be botherd like me. You can buy stick over covers that fit over the existing and look very good. Only like £15 from ebay too.
hi, i love your videos, now can you help me, i have a bmw e91 2006 touring, my s wheel doesnt have buttons on it, will there be wires behind it to install one with, so i can control radio,
After refitting the airbag and reconnecting the battery I got a warning saying my restraint system had a malfunction. Do you know the fix to this? Cheers.
Nice work! Mine's scuffed around where the key fob goes. Looks a bit horrible.... I have a request! Front shock replacements! I'd love to see this step by step. Cheers!
Thank you for actually making this video, helped me a lot of doing it myself instead of paying someone else to do it. Only one question, does it have to be precisely 60nm?
Hi guys I like that steering wheel cover,,, three spoke cover,,, can anyone advise me where to get it from and how to fit it,,, help would be appreciated,,, thank u guys
@@GeorgeAusters hi George how are you doing,,, I watch almost all your videos, u make great videos and your English is very good n clear to understand, I'm so excited to get a reply from you, Well yes I did watch it, but I'm talking about that perforated steering wheel cover,

George, another great video. On my F30, I’m having an issue with the phone button on my steering wheel not working. Sticking if you will. I’ve sprayed it with electrical contact cleaner from outside, but haven’t removed the steering wheel yet. I wonder if I need to replace those switch units. Do you have any ideas?
Ive only had my E81 for two weeks and I was almost at the end of my tether. Your videos make me think it might be worth saving !
Everything I needed to replace the wheel in my E84 X1. Thank you George!!!

Hi Joaquin. Do you know if I can follow the first steps just to align the steering wheel? Thanks.
@@cristiander yes!
Isnt it easier to just disconnect the battery a while before you start unplug the connectors?
@@daviddorado5632 your body can store some charge and detonate it, its not only the battery power you have to prevent.
@@joaquinvidegain6797 wow. Never heard of such a thing before. What about when driving ?
Thank you for starting from the beginning! Too many people start from the middle of the process
You're so welcome!

Bloody explosion clips lol got me a second time now 😂.
Another great video George. Can you do the same on the E60 please?
Well done bud, lots of care and consideration used.. Awesome vid as I needed to change my steering wheel in my E91 and this popped up
Cheers mate, glad to help!
i was skeptical but yeah that looks so much nicer

Hi, I need help, I had an idea to put a g20 BMW steering wheel on my e87 coupe do you think this will be possible.
Nice work! Mine's scuffed around where the key fob goes. Looks a bit horrible....

I'd love to see this step by step.

I’ll be doing all shocks on the 1 series soon enough👍🏻
@@GeorgeAusters awesome 👌 is this a similar process to the E60?
Thank you for actually making this video, helped me a lot of doing it myself instead of paying someone else to do it. Only one question, does it have to be precisely 60nm?
Best to torque it👍🏻
@@GeorgeAusters i have the same wheel as you and thats why im asking if it has too be precisely 60nm or if i can just tighten it as much as i can
I wrapped mine carbon fibre looks good
Nice mate. I'm actually going to refurbish my 1 series steering wheel leather which is nacard. Needed to know how to remove the wheel. Thank you.
Good luck!
@@GeorgeAusters Cheers!
How many minutes before u remove the airbag after disconnecting the battery?? Any other prep before removing the airbag? Tnx!
No need to wait, you’ll be fine
You joker made me jump when the airbag exploded 😂😂😂
😂
Reading the tile like well whatever this is it will be what’s about to break next 😂🤣🤣

Sooooooon!
Was about to write the same comment 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I knew the NUKE clip was coming! lol, The 5 series airbag is a bugger to pop out (at least my one is) as the hole is underneath the column.
Hahaha
hi there have you ever removed your steering wheel on your e60 520D
Yes here: th-cam.com/video/vqYbgoM-W7Y/w-d-xo.html
Well done, but you should mention there are no holes. You have to actually puncture the leather to get there.
Hi man! Do you have any ideas, is it possible to upgrade a e90 steering wheel without buttons to one with commands?
Anything is possible with coding
What was the torque spec for the steering wheel bolt?
65nm

Possibly but if it works electrically then I would remove it to clean it as someone could have spilt a drink or something on it👍🏻
Did you not upload this last week?
No mate
Wrapped mine in carbon along with the other trim in the front :)
A cheaper option is to remove the existing one, remove all of the scratchy plastic with solvent and then paint is satin black.
You got any pictures of the final result mate?
@@ashleycattermole87 sorry mate not got around to doing it yet.
I did it on my previous BMW but I didn't take any picture.
🙌🏼
Good instructional video.... The price from BMW for this trim is rediculous! Message me for a refurbed genuine item 👌
Remove all rubber coating from old trim. Scuff it with fine sand paper. Then 2 coats matt black and new m badge.
BMW price for one of those is stupid
A lot of people do that but you just don’t get the same result👌🏼
Yes but the genuine bm part is crap. The rubber comes off so easily. So may aswell just paint it matt black.
whats the point of putting videos up if you never respond to them.
