    Hey man, I'm going thru the same injury. You are very motivational. I cannot wait until I'm off the immobilizer. But only going on my two weeks. Look forward to the journey. You're an inspiration man.

    You are an inspiration man, thank you for putting the videos up. You should continue these videos and make this a fitness channel. I think it would do well. I also suffered the same injury playing ball. I’m in pharmacy school and this really set me back and I was really down about it until I watched how positive you were. I know you probably have down times too but generally you had a plan and carried it through. Thank you man I hope you crush your goals.

      Jerry Edouard Hey man, thank you!!! Yeah, I’m going to put some fitness stuff on this channel. Keep your head up, stay positive, and keep moving forward. Everything gets better and better (with some days being better than others). Keep reaching out for anything you need.

    I've had both knees operated on the same time at 4 months now
    I can do most things because of the videos you put out which gave me motivation to get on with it and try not to feel sorry for myself
    So all is well the only thing is walking down stairs is still a issue the only thing I can say is dont give up and if you are feeling a bit low have a look at the videos
    Thank you Eric

      Today is one month post op for me. Flexion at 90 passive with PT, 70 during my semi passive exercise. Can rep quad leg raises without brace…but mentally I’m really hitting a wall. Like I’ll unlock the brace and walk around a bit, do some very light quarter body squats. But i have to wait 2 more weeks for doc to give me the ok to unlock brace at 60. I’m literally the most down I have ever felt. Any advice? Or at least a positive experience? Exercise and activity is my life. This is one of the hardest things mentally I’ve ever been through.

      @@ajbalkema8567 take your time and focus you attention on other areas of life. It is what it is right now with the knee (sounds like good improvement). Nonetheless, in this free time try and use it in areas you would’ve not had time for before. Improvements there will definitely improve your mood and motivate you even more.

      @@mentalgame5608 yeah that’s what my wife said too lol. Watching my tree trunks turn into tree branches is killing me lol. I can’t even go for a hike with my kids. Uhhh this too shall pass. So you’re around 14 weeks post op? Are you walking normal? Are you Able to do any light sled drags or loading the legs? I know the recovery time line varies more than any sports injury I’ve ever heard of.

    • @mentalgame5608
      @mentalgame5608 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@ajbalkema8567 yes I’m walking normally. However, my quad muscle still hasn’t returned back to pre injury form. It’s a slow process but you gotta stay positive. The more you take your mind off of it surprisingly you’ll notice much more improvement. I suggest doing lunges and getting ankle weights and doing leg extensions. Great focused exercises.

    • @ajbalkema8567

      @@mentalgame5608 yeah I know it will take time to gain the hypertrophy and strength back. You should work in backwards sled walks for volume (50% body weight 100 yards). One of the safest and most functional strength movements you can do for quads. Louis Simmons tore his patella and 16 months later was squatting 900 (juiced to the gills) lol. The muscle gaining part I can’t wait for. The waiting game is killing me. Thanks for your advice, it mean a lot. Im so zoomed in on my knee and training, everything is dull around me. I should try and focus on some other areas of life too. Heal well! Im going to reach out in a couple months for progress.

    Hello everyone, I'm almost 5 week post-op, 2 weeks after the surgery I accidently contracted very hardly my quad with my leg in the air trying to go from an upright to a sitting position and I felt a lot of pain...swelling and my knee was really hot for 9 hours...I was wondering while you were walking during your rehab did you frequently experience like if your patella would want to get of of your knee or like it was dragged up when your quad would contract...I feel that a part of the surgery was ripped by the event I described...and my patella would only be fixed on one side...is it normal to experience this kind of disconfort in your opinion? I am able to do 10-15 leg lifts with my zimmer...but when walking for a prolonged period of time ,(always with my zimmer) I'm begginning to experience this disconforr in the patella...thanks a lot in advance!

      jordan ressler lol I pushed like crazy to get to that point. I did PT 3 times a day while I was immobilized and 1 to 2 times when I was mobile. Make sure you push yourself to the point that you’re uncomfortable but not injured. You have to go past a comfortable feeling.

    Great stuff bro, been following you. I tore my patella tendon completely on my 31st birthday, playing basketball, i play 5 days a week, played college and pro. I'm 13 weeks post-op today. I can do everything besides run. I started jogging about a week ago. I'm going to try all these new exercises that you're doing at PT. I have one question please, I feel like I still have tons of scar tissue right underneath the kneecap to the left outside of the knee, still squishy almost like I still can't feel it all the way, likes its num, is that normal??? That's the only thing that's been bugging me when I try to run. I feel like it's just Scar Tissue build up and I got to get rid of and keep breaking it down completely. Besides that I can do box squats, box jumps, one legged leg press leg extensions all that good stuff. I haven't tried to lunge yet, should I be able to do that yet @ 13 weeks? Started to jog about the 3-month Mark. Feel like my left leg is still too weak to run full speed... thanks man would love to hear back from you. Awesome bro.

      Sean Price Hey what’s up man? Thank you for watching the videos! This is a Hell of and injury, and you’re doing a great job! The build up of scar tissue is normal. Talking to the doctor, he said over time your body will continue to get rid of it. I also still have a lot of scar tissue, and numbness along the side of my knee. We just have to be patient and keep working hard. I would wait until you feel stronger in that leg to try sprinting. I’ve had a few muscle strains trying to push the limits, and am now backing off a bit. I will put up a video soon to keep you updated. Please reach out if you have any other questions.

    • @ehailey09

      I’ll be 4 weeks post op in 2 days…doing pt 3 times a day, I can do all the leg extension and locked PT. Last week i got the okay to do range of motion stuff and I unlock the brace a couple times a day. I’ve been doing upper body workouts everyday, and try to hobble 8000 steps a day, but feel like I’m at a pause. Honestly feel like opening my brace to 60 degrees and moving around would make the stiffness feel better, but waiting. How are you coming along? This is one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to deal with, so sending positive vibes your way!

    • @eriktarver2087
      @eriktarver2087 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @ajbalkema8567 7/1/23 made two months since my injury and I'll be 2 months post op on 7/6/23. I just started PT 3 days ago, my rom was at 50° that day. For now I'm working on getting to 100°, 130° is the goal. It's stiff but I'm just getting started. I should be losing the brace and the crutches within the next two or three weeks. I'm also able to put my full weight on my injured leg but it's very weak so I need to start some strength training as well. One day at a time my friend, we'll get there. Steady wins the race!

      @@eriktarver2087 oh man, my doc told me to get off the crutches week 2. It’s so strange the difference in protocols. Starting pt week 1 was helpful, flexion gets better with each set. Good luck man! Small wins each day.

      @@eriktarver2087 so was mine, did you get the 3 permanent sutures put in and anchored through the patella bone? I’ve done hours of research on protocols and techniques…they widely differ. Some top orthos say no weight for 6 weeks, some say as soon as you can bear weight in a fix brace do so. PT differs even more. Either way, i wish us both speedy and safe recovers.
