    Hey man I just had my patellar tendon repaired 4 days ago and ngl I was feeling the most depressed I've every felt in life. As a 24yr old male that's constantly active at the gym and hiking to not being able to even walk. It would just eat me up for the first 3 days , after seeing your video it reminded me that I'm not alone in this. There's plenty of people who have overcome this , so why can't I. From the bottom of my heart thank you so much for giving me hope

      I had surgery 2 weeks ago and I've never been so depressed in my life. I went from working everyday (I love working in the moving industry and taking care of my family) to being stuck in the bed all day everyday. It took 3 weeks to get my surgery scheduled so I've been down for over a month. 1st thing in the morning I'm starting these exercises. Hopefully this helps me out physically and mentally. Thank you for taking the time out and sharing this with us

      I had my patellar tendon repaired about 6 weeks ago (just had my 6 week post op check up today). You got this, it'll get better. The first week sucks, just make sure you ice and elevate. Also make sure you talk to your physical therapist when you see them to make sure you're ok for this kind of exercise. Beware, my brace fell down at every chance, so be careful. If you have a dog or a leash, that actually works better than a towel depending on how tall you are (easier reach).

    3 weeks post op full patellar tendon rupture. I tore mine playing basketball. I have never been this down bad in my life. Im a basketball coach and extremely active. Aside from the pain the worst thing is sitting in the house and doing nothing. Its pure torture. Hoping to be off crutches next week and Im going hard as I can in PT because i have to get my life back. To anyone else going through it stay strong and trust the process.

      I had a patella tendons rupture on both legs.. trust me I know how you feel... I'm 7 weeks post surgery trying to get better😊

    I'm sure I felt as depressed as the other people writing in. I shattered my patella and the surgery and long rehab ahead was almost too much. I've been very active all my life (73) and no other injury has ever changed my lifestyle so radically (no driving, swimming, biking, sleeping comfortably, etc, etc.). I was really starting to wonder how I was going to do this. But this video gave me hope. And even though this rehab is very challenging, at least I know that full recovery is possible. And that is what will keep me going. Thank you all.

    Broooooo I know this is mad old but this shit right here helped me so much dude. Real talk I appreciate you. I lifted my leg for the first time in a month after surgery. I was worried like a mug at first but with these exercises helped me tremendously.

      This is me currently. I’m crying right now because my doctor said after 3 weeks I should be walking. Which scares me and it’s almost been 4 weeks.

      @@mar4065 I was terrified… but once The Dr Said I had to move I Pushed myself and was finally moving more … this video is excellent …will do this also .. You can do it just be safe

    Thanks for the workouts and encouragement. I'm getting ready for my 2 week post op dr visit. After the surgery, after the pain, after the uncomfortable and unconventional sleep, after the depressed state, after getting mobilized and used to the crutches. Everything gets easier. I just have to take it week by week

    I kept bracing for the pain its the worst! You will get throught this. The Depression, anxiety, feeling sorry for loss of independence. All these feelings you will go through. Hopefully you hav a support system as i do of family members. Hope everyone gets throught this. ❤❤❤❤

      How is your Range of motion? I’m 2 months removed and I’m struggling to get to 60 degrees. This injury has completely wrecked my life.

    Great video! I'm pre consultation having come off my pushbike and having the pedal rip into my leg down to bone level (made my eyes water a bit). Aside from pain and stiffness, I'm unable to lift may leg or support it against gravity which suggests I've damaged the patellar tendon. Mentally, very crushing as I'm an active person - but this video uplifted me at a time I need some uplifting as we head into the winter months in the UK

    This is the most reassuring and encouraging video i've come across now in my 5th week of recovery. My doctor being a surgeon and not a trainer or physical therapist hasn't given me much training advice.     So glad you post your work outs, tore my right knee in 2006, now today my left knee. It’s encouraging to see you put that work in, but I’m doing it again and I already know what to expect, however seeing you makes me feel a little more confident about getting back to myself, this is a hard pill to swallow for a second time but thanks for making it seem easy, been watching your vids and appreciate you. The problem that I’m having this go around which didn’t occur in 2006 is constipation, I definitely been watching my food intake but do you have any other options on constipation, I would appreciate your advice. Thanks in advance.

    My first 2 weeks were hell. I had a PT home visits to help me move around, use the stairs. I was lucky enough to have a yoga strap and it gave me the independence I missed. I could get up and move around by myself by week 2. I use the yoga strap for leg raises as well...but I’m not sure if I should be doing it so soon. I’ll be starting my real pt program in 2 weeks. I’m so freaking thankful for these videos! I’ll be doing these exercises on my good leg tho, I need to strengthen it.

    Very inspiring, I’m super active and in week one post surgery. At 48, the mental pain is more than the knee pain. I’ve recovered from 2 Achilles ruptures but this is great for an active person. Thanks for providing this valuable information!

    This is so great. I ruptured my quad tendon a week ago and had surgery to repair it 5 days ago. I have my first follow up appt tomorrow and I have no idea what the next steps are and I’m already ready to get to work to start moving. Sitting around is maddening. Thank you for this video.

    I'm 7 weeks out from surgery and my doctor has been keeping me from doing most pt because of the nature of my surgery (my tendon was ruptured 2+ years ago and I am obese) but some of the hip exercises in this are pretty easy. I'll try to incorporate this into my routine. Thank you so much for the video!

    I recently this weekend ruptured my patellar tendon playing basketball with my son, last play of a 3 game series, games winning shot. I felt what felt like a knee to the back of my knee and then a pop in the front of my knee. After an E.R. visit I was told that I ruputered my patellar tendon. I've never had any issue prior but things happen. I meet with a great orthopedic surgeon on Monday and will work to get the surgery and then onto the road of recovery. I've actually been working on getting out of the bed and off of the couch using my hands to left my leg with success. I really love this video and you are definitely a God send. Thanks!!!

    So nice to see this video! Motivational and inspiring! Had a bad fall on my mountain bike and tore my patellar tendon, ACL, MCL, LCL and meniscus. 3 weeks post op patellar tendon repair then have to have 2nd surgery on ACL and potentially other. You motivated me to ditch one crutch and keep moving. So hard both mentally and physically. Thank you for this. We’ve got this 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

    Very well done. I just had both knees done with TKR. Left (good leg by xray ) on 11/23/22, and just had my Right (Bad Leg) and came home with an Immobilized right, petellar Tendon is lack of my true knowledge but not attached well (Squishy), NO BENDING for two weeks. Query out on if I am to do any exercise,. I found your instructions similar to what the PT guy at hospital said. I thank you very much.
    You also reinforced slow and steady moving. My Left knee went so well. Glad I did it first, I'd be unhappy right now.

    I’m so glad I came across your video! I tore my patellar tendons in both of my knees. I’m 3 weeks PO on the right leg and 2 days post op the left leg. It’s truly a life changing experience!! I'm a little older than you but I'm doing well can't wait to get back to doing the normal things of life like shopping and driving my car because it is my right knee. Appreciate you man. 👊🏽

    I’m doing leg raises, calf raises, dorsiflexion movements and incorporating bands in my recovery. I bought knee sleeves and a scraper for my knee as well. Everything humanly possible without risking injury. I’ve come a long way, since the first week. By far, the first 3 days was miserable. Anyway, thanks for the videos. Being a competitive bodybuilder and health nut, I’m trying to educate myself on everything about this tough injury. Thanks for the videos.

    Hey man, all I got to say is wow! I just ruptured mine after dealing with years of tendonitis. I am getting pretty freaked out with surgery been scheduled. I read a lot of horror stories about people not recovering etc but seeing you and the ability to strengthen the hips and quads post-surgery really gave me a good outlook and calmed down a bit. Appreciate it!

      @@humbertogarcia7295 hey Humberto I'm a little past 6 months post up. Still got some muscle to build up but overall I can do pretty much everything. Faster movements still feel a little weird but all that should come with time. Going up and downstairs without discomfort was one of the biggest goals and I can do that now no problem.

    I'm 3 days away from week 2 of post surgery of full rupture and this video and many of the comments have made me very discouraged. I'm athletic, 14 year military vet that workouts out frequently, but this injury has left me so messed up physically. I am able to get some quad muscle flexion but my upper shin hurts so bad and my knee has not stopped hurting. I've had a pretty positive attitude until I saw this video and feel like I'm way behind. I'm gonna keep working and not be too discouraged we're all different, I'm just hoping my Dr didn't mess something up

    Thanks for this video I’m 11 days post surgery , I can lift my leg a little but this video helped to eliminate the fear and wait for day 14 to do more. I can walk without crutches already and feel good but I was depressed thinking I could never be the same me again and I’m a lifelong all round athlete knowing it’s possible to get back to your best and better really gives me encouragement thank you j brother

      Hola Te escribo desde Bariloche Patagonia Argentina, me operaron el día 31/05/23 hace 28 días del tendon Rotuliano, se me corto Estoy evolucionando bien. Te recomiendo paciencia y Realizar movimientos De acuerdo Al tiempo transcurrido ir por etapas alimentación buena, descanso hidratacion, a mi criterio todos los días mejoras un poco pero los resultados se ven semana a semana, te va a ir bien Actualmente camino lento pero bien, estoy realizando kinesilogia, hago movimientos En mi casa recomendado por el médico y flexiono hasta 30 grados ( aunque puedo hacer más flexibilidad) en una semana más el medico empieza a realizar flexion de 60 grados!! Animo y fortaleza mental 💪 saludos

    Such an inspirational video. I’m one week post surgery, can walk around without crutches and do most of the exercises you displayed. Makes me feel like I’m ahead of the had and extremely motivated. This is what I needed to see. Thank you

      My ruptured patellar tendon happened six days ago and will have surgery in 3 days… I was down and out/bed ridden for two days with a brace then the next day I could get around a little with a walker and brace then the next hobble a little with just the brace and right now I can limp around really well with the brace and even go up and down stairs one foot at a time. Do you think I’ll be back to being able to do this a day or two after the surgery or is it gonna really knock be back down for a week? Hope you can give me encouraging news lol I can’t stand not being able to at least get around in my house

    Man this is such a tough injury. I had a bilateral patella rupture (both Knees). The Ortho wanted me non weight bearing for 8 weeks for full heal (Full cadaver tendon replacement on both knees). Did home PT for strength and healing for those 8 weeks.
    And at 10 weeks started out patient PT. With both legs it has been hell. Standing assisted is a ton work. The knees feel great but leg weakness is severe.
    Im like a baby trying to learn to stand before I can walk. If I had one good leg it would have been so much easier. But God is good, all the time.

      I had a bilateral rupture/repair 5 weeks ago and I feel for you, who have it worse than me. Hopefully in week 6 I can get my locked braces off, how long before you got yours off?

      I had that exact tear on my left knee… I had to wait 3 years because of different circumstances… I’m supposed to be non weight bearing for the 1st 6 weeks… It’s very difficult to do so because I’ve gained weight in the last 3 years and my left side is weak. So hopping around on crutches is something I haven’t been able to do! But as you stated, God is good and by his grace and mercy, I will not further injury or damage the progress made by having the surgery.

    I tore both my patellar tendons about 23 years. Being a teenager at the time and going through therapy I had an amazing therapist. He was a nutritionist and a body builder. He made things better mentally and also made sure I got the right nutrients to help with a very speedy recovery. Both my knees were at 100 percent within 6-8 months of therapy. When I get old though I know those numbers will drop significantly lol.

    Thanks so much for this! I recently had a bad fall on Halloween night, ruptured both quadriceps tendons. I’m currently in braces for both legs. I truly appreciate your knowledge on going through this tough injury. I have both legs to work on, I found this video great thanks!

      @@pbutler1961 hi, just an update. It will be two years this October and I’m doing great. Haven’t went running yet, but am able to workout with HIIT cardio and bike riding. Hang in there!

    Sup bro thanks for your all your videos about the recovery, really inspiring and motivational. I had the same injury 2 weeks ago and a surgery a week ago. I stopped taking the oxycodone they prescribed day 2 and have decreased the ibuprofen to 800mg twice a day. I think doctor recommended one Tylenol and 2 ibuprofen every 8-12 hours but now I’m reading studies about NSAIDs interfering with bone and tendon healing. I wouldn’t take any at all if I could but I’m having trouble sleeping because of the pain. I know you’re not a doctor but I’m curious what medicines if any did you take the first few weeks to manage pain? Once again thank you for the inspiring videos, can’t wait to recover and get back to being active

    Had surgery 25th of October 2020. my advice from surgeon was to rest it the first two weeks. only walk with crutches to ease stiffness and go to bath room. FWB. this to allow healing and prevent re rupture and once i see physio to decide on exercises

    I just tore both my patellar tendons and patellar femoral ligaments. Sux pains has been pretty intense. I had already started most of what you shown in the beginning of the video the day after surgery. I'm pretty driven to get this all past me and walking again as soon as possible. Not over doing anything.

    Thank you for this video . I’m in a sad depressing state just mentally killing me because of the unknown but seeing this is definitely motivation . My surgery was last wk and I’m headed into wk 2. I can stand up on my on and move here and there . I also can raise my leg as well and take showers and a lot of other things I thought I wouldn’t be able to do but this video has help me to motivate me and I appreciate the video 💯💪🏾 everybody get well and stay safe

    Eric, I am a 59 year old man that fell on some ice back on February 10, 2022. I am now 3.5 weeks post-op! I love your video showing the different leg and hip exercises! I am still in the brace with 30 degrees mobility. What would be some exercises I can do to increase from 10 degrees to the 30 degree goal?

    One thing to emphasize is the importance of keeping full extension when at rest. Use a pillow under the heel even with the brace locked at 0 to make sure your leg is at 0. A tendon that heals elongated will be very very hard to correct later.
    Loved all the tips and workouts. I’m on week 9 of a partial patellectomy. It’s possible to walk without a brace but I’m mostly still in one and at 120*. I spend 6 hours a day doing PT. Easily the hardest injury I’ve ever dealt with. Hope to be skiing in 2 months. Fingers crossed!

    I've been struggling for the last 5 weeks since my patella tendon tear surgery and trying to see what other of exercises I can do beside the basic exercise I was given while waiting for PT which is schedule in 4 week from now.       @@N_scaler its been ok, sleeping with your leg straight out sucks lol thats was the main struggle. Now I'm in therapy on bending it, I will say makes sure you do your workouts they give you for home once you get to that point. I hope you doing well, let me know how you doing so far.

    Hi I am definitely interested learning from your vedios I teared both my patella ligament rupture completely first the left and then right almost a year after having accidents in campus cause my motor function weakness on my right knee then patella over extended at my campus I am berly soon I am going have my third surgery which is my 2nd one on my right knee hopefully ill have my knee surgery just want more recommendations on how to improve my motor function that has been my greatest challenge from my previous patellar rupture any other recommendations I would appreciate it alot and thanks for making and sharing your vedios

I can walk without my crutches since day 3 post opp but I only do it in like my bedroom or going to the bathroom. Typically when does the swelling go down post opp

    This is great. Helping me deal a lot. I feel super strong, and by week 2 was already able to walk without a cane. Don't know why the doctor told me to stay in bed. It made me scares of re injury.

      Frank Castle being cautious, but they don’t really understand this injury like someone who’s been through it. It’s a rare injury.

    I just had a 20% partial tear of my patellar. Honestly its been hard emotionally and mentally but watching this video gave me a lot of hope and strength to try these.

      Hey I have a partial tear myself. I just hit week 4 from the accident. My doctor didn’t suggest surgery just self heal in a knee stabilizer. I still can’t lift my leg. Did you have surgery? How did your healing process go?

    Been following each video as I progress we through my recovery. Interesting how conservative my surgeon is saying I'll be off crutches 6 weeks and still no weight bearing on the leg, while you had a goal of 2 weeks off the crutches. I can def bear weight on the injured leg but scared not to disobey orders.

    Thank you for your videos. Did you have a full tear? I'm in Canada. My doctor won't see me for 6 weeks and haven't given me any instructions but I don't want to wait to start exercises. I'm in week 3 already, I'm in average shape but I can place weight in it and I walk with crutches only but I feel like I can do so much more. The incision is still healing but it's not bleeding or anything. Anyway, I just feel fully trapped. Been doing the ankle exercises but would like to move to this, this week

    I'm feeling so depressed, after 6 months of naturally healing I've finally just seen the specialist who said I needed surgery as I can't bend my leg and it locks up 😭 I can walk on it but can't walk up stairs. After all this progress I'll be starting back at square 1 again I'm so fkn mad and angry at myself for not being more careful 😣😣😣 and on top of that I like being my own independent person and am hating the thought that I need to rely on someone to help me I hate this but it's something that needs to be done 😢😢

    Thank you for this video! I just hit 4 week mark since my accident which cause a partial tear in the PT. Been on crutches in a knee stabilizer since. No surgery. Would you recommend these workouts for a partial tear healing naturally after 1month? A friend of mine had something similar but his doc waited to long to start mobilizing and at month 3 he was told he’d never bend his leg again. Any advice for partial tears and healing?

    Thank you for putting up your videos. Definitely helped me a lot. I’m on week 5 and because your videos I’m ahead of my schedule. Just started this week with PT and I was so much ahead. On first visit therapist said whatever you doing keep doing it it’s working. He pushed more than I was allowed and now have to wait on doctor to approve to move ahead of the protocol. Your videos are the best I found online and definitely give so much hope and help after this surgery. Thank you again. Really appreciate it

      At week 3 I wasn’t doing any bending I wasn’t even able to do straight leg raises Without help of towel how he shows is it video. So week 2,3 and 4 I just kept doing ankle pumps straight leg raises in brace with help of towel and trying to engage my quadriceps so while laying down I would push my leg to the floor and hold for few seconds and do that for 3 sets 10 reps during whole day few times. At the end of week 4 I was getting frustrated because I just couldn’t lift my leg straight on my own. And then one day just happened. After that I feel everything started happening faster my leg was bending each day more. After probably week 6 I started trying to bend leg by myself at home. But I would only go to the point where I felt comfortable. Hope this helps

    2 days post op. Thanks for posting your journey. Life saving perspective. How about that first night when the nerve block wears off?? Woahhh! Standing up was a huge win today. The pain today is half of yesterday. I can’t wait to start PT.

      1st 2 days after the operation are the worst. There are no words for the pain. I'm week 3 post-op. It gets better each day.

      @@dremason6518 hows your recovery coming along I’m 16 days post op, off crutches and doing some of the Pt stuff and passive range. Working out upper body, but my doc and PT aren’t stressing the supine leg raises yet. Are you hitting those?

      @@ajbalkema8567 Yes. I'm week 4 and I'm doing everything he's doing in the video at PT plus calf raises and about 4 inch squats. Electricity for the muscle twitch. Sleeping without the brace. If you're a side sleeper, lay on your side, put a pillow on top of the brace, and sleep like that. More comfortable than sleeping on your back. I'm ahead of schedule. I try to get at least one workout in a day except PT days cuz they wear me out...lol.

      @@dremason6518 nice man, its so good to here this. This injury is so uncommon that my PT wants me to be a case study. Which is cool, except it makes me worry the recovery plan may not be perfected lol. I’m doing all supine and prone hip mobility stuff, calf raises, single leg stuff, I feel good for only 17 days post op, but the journey is so long I can’t express how uplifting it is to hear from other athletic people who are going through this. Good info on the sleep too, luckily I’m mostly a back sleeper but that shits getting old lol. Did you get the 3 permanent suture technique? If so, did your doc tell you weight baring as long as you’re in the brace is actually a good thing for tendon strength? Heal fast bruh
