    Nice video! So I bought one (a year after you) and the clear dust extractor came mounted already. It does not have the opening you showed, and the reason is because there is a plastic stud that comes out of it and goes into a hole in the base. You missed inserting that before you put in the screw. It seems one has to bend that plastic a bit to get it on and off. I have not removed mine yet as I'm a bit timid about its forcible removal. This one piece is not up the standards of the rest of the tool IMHO, as it should have a clip or hook instead of that stud and it should be easy to remove and reinstall which this one does not appear to be thus. Thanks

      OK, update, yes the clear plastic dust extractor guard does some off... with a little more finesse than it should. Basically, after removing the thumb screw on the far side of the guard, grab the circular shoot that connects to your vacuum hose, and gently pull it away tangentially to the housing circumference from the router centerline. This will bend the plastic guard a little and it will pull the plastic pin out of the hole in the guard housing whence it fastens and resides. The guard is now free and can be removed. Reinstalling is kinda reverse but put the guard in the base housing such that the edge where the thumb screw goes is in its same position as when the thumb screw is in. Now, keeping that corner fixed, pull on the circular shoot that connects to the vacuum hose in a manner to slightly straighten the curve of the clear guard. This lengthens the guard enough to be able to then slide the plastic pin over into its hole in the housing, whence you can then release pulling and the plastic pin will snap into the hole. You can then add the thumb screw back in and all will be secure. I really do not like this design at all. That small plastic pin is going to eventually crack and snap off leaving you without proper fixing of this guard. The one good news is that the pin appears to be directly in line with the thumb screw hole, and they are both through holes. Therefore I am anticipating that when this plastic pin breaks off, I'll be able to cut it flush, and then come in from the thumb screw side with a long drill and be able to drill a hole into where the pin used to be, and then insert a friction fit steel pin to take its place. This could all have been avoided by a proper better hook/latch design, but it's always easy to be a back seat quarterback designer. At least now this should not be a show stopper for anyone now that we have a Plan B.

      @hu5116 i totally agree with you. This is not the best design for this to an otherwise awesome router. I figured everything you said after the video was made. I too will use a metal pin once this cracks off.

    How can i get this? I almost bought the older craftsman router table and router combo kit but i would rather have the v20 model. Would be nice if it had a plunge attachment.

      @@cetoolden ugh not at my local lowes. What is the price point?

    • @cetoolden
      @cetoolden  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @ken romalino $99. Did you check top stock? That's where they are. They are either in a cardboard box with 4 in them or out of the cardboard box. Product number is 5041672. Look on the cardboard box for this number. May also be in between the aisles in top stock. Bring your phone with you when looking so you can use the camera zoom feature to better see the numbers. That's what I do.

      It's not on the lowes site because they have inventory computer issues. But rest assured its in stores in top stock. It just came out this past week

      I’ve had it in my cart for several days. Go to filter results and show unavailable items and see if it shows up. If not, you can use a search engine to find the Lowe’s product page for it.
