I came across your shop built video and stayed to watch your build. Yes, you might have over thought the project, yet the finished product is a fine piece of art in a functioning tool for ever day use. FABULOUS thank you for the entertainment.
I like your design. And the simplicity of the build. We all make mistakes in our builds and have to find a fix for them. You worked yours out very well. I'm impressed.
I think that is one terrific folding Step Stool. Please make the plans available. I could make that as a gift for my wife to make peace when I spend oo much time in the shop.
Hey Mr. Built David at the Drunken WoodWorker recommended your channel and I'm Glad He did I have watched three of your video's step stool, kerf maker, and sholder plane and I am really looking forward to checkin out the rest of your stuff and yes I subscribed and thanks for sharing... I think your stuff is top shelf stuff...
Really nice work (as usual!) I have a small suggestion for the use of screws that are to be covered and left in place as you did; before screwing the screw into place initially, dribble a small amount of wood hardener down into the hole. The wood hardener really soaks into the wood around the screw and provides a much firmer hold (along with regular wood glue; don't forget the glue.) I also use this technique with MDF and here it works even better. By making the MDF paper/wood fibers soft enough to move out of the way when the screw is inserted, it prevents splitting and then leaves a much stronger substrate to hold the screw after it dries (you just have to be very careful to screw it in with even pressure and to not keep turning it after bottoming out as this will strip it very easily; with the fibers softened up so much.) Thanks for sharing your projects with us. I enjoy watching and learning.
The mustard bottle: the greatest innovation in woodworking in the last 100 years. Seriously, though, I wonder why glue manufacturer's don't follow suit. Patent issues? Sweet step stool, BTW!
Hey Dude, smart stool, good video , when I put in screw covering plugs, I use varnish to hold then in instead of glue, then if I need to take them out I can pop them out , you got to love that walnut , G
Great piece. Need somthing for my new full height upper cabinets. Wife is 5’2. Did you ever make and upload plans for this. Thanks again and keep up the great work
Wow this was posted 7 years ago.. wanted to make my mom a stool for her kitchen and I love this one. I'm having a little difficulty trying to figure out any of the measurements for the screws and the slots. Might end up wingin it
I need to build one of these too. I'm thinking the reason you didn't go with a single solid piece for the top step, would be the long diffiicult "boring" job right? When boring that far in wood, the chance that it's going to wander off and not come out where you want it gets pretty high.
You are a Wood Master ,Keep up the Quality work. True Quality is getting rare in this day and age.
Great work! I love that you show us the mistakes. It's not also roses and sunshine for us normal folks in designing something
o
Nice design. I really enjoy seeing how you modify on the fly as the need arises. Thanks for sharing.

I would of loved to see the damn thing fold up..
+Derek Dickerson ~ Seen briefly at the very end being folded up and unfolded.
I used Wood Prix instructions for this and I already did it :)
I like the design! And the contrasting wood between the steps and frame is a nice touch.
Thanks!
Love the contrasting wood species! Great design! I've also been looking for a cheap alternative for a "glue-bot". The mustard bottle is GENIUS!
I like your design. And the simplicity of the build. We all make mistakes in our builds and have to find a fix for them. You worked yours out very well. I'm impressed.
The best step stool design on youtube so far.

Check out Richard McIntosh at his TH-cam channel. He is building the slot mortise and making plans for it with Shop built's technical assistance.
KSFWG I hope I am not wrong in saying this but I believe Ryan is making plans too. Thank you KSFWG for mentioning my TH-cam channel.

I would love to see a smaller step stool that can fold. They make plastic ones but a wooden one would be awesome.
Absolutely beautiful ! Just what I need to make for my kitchen . Do you have plans ?
Beautiful work!

What kind of wood is this? Great job by the way.
Best fit stool I've seen but not easy to make.

It's just weird that you are the only one building a folding steptone on yt. Or at least I can't find any other.

Great little stool. Can I get the pattern anywhere?

Your right there, using two pieces was purely just to make it easier.
I noticed your table saw fence. I have the same saw. I'm interested in how you made the fence. Great work.
Would love plans for this!! Great video thanks!!!
Plans coming soon! Thanks for watching.
Beautiful. Can it be made with more steps? Sorry. I know nothing on carpentry or woodworking!
Do you have any dimensions or plans for this project?
Thanks and great job.
