It's not a sample! They brought on a vocalist by the name of Héli Andrea to sing the Bulgarian choir layers. Credited right in the video description. I do believe that it's an 'estabilished' chant in the world of Bulgarian folk singing... something akin to jazz standards. I'm not really familiar with it outside of it being sampled in extreme music. So maybe not an original chant - but you've never heard this performance of it before, because it is original to this song.
Honestly, elevates it even more. I think it sits in the mix just perfect... and that's because the performances and build for the choir were coordinated to the song/mix. No tempo or pitch changes... chopping/layering. Rather they got to 'make' the exact 'sample' they wanted for the track.
It's something I honestly with more hip-hop producers were apt to do. Like, maybe they're still doing electronic beats common in the genre, but more than half of the samples used in the beats are live performances made for them, rather than some dusted-off soul/r&b. Nothing wrong with the latter, but I think the result you get with custom-made 'samples' adds it's own oomph and distinctiveness. Also... nobody is ever stealing that sample from you. Try as they may, they'll never find it, because it doesn't exist outside of your work and was made specifically for that work.

I don't know why, but this song keeps giving me an imagery from the movie "The Ritual". It paints this perfect imagery of fear and despair they sing about in the song and it's just incredible. The song writing in this is just top notch. The way this song is structured is amazing. Probably on my top 3 of best songs of the year.

@@Somavi They definitely sound way different from each other and are completely separate sub genres of metal, but both are extremely heavy and sinister. I typically listen to more deathcore and metalcore, but that new Cattle album has been on repeat for a couple weeks.
