Thank you for the videos on this unit. I have a Citroen C5 2008 as well and it helped us getting this head unit working. I experienced no issues with the bluetooth connection. I didn't install any app, it just worked out of the box and the connection is super fast. My only issue is with the sound system. My car has 8 speakers and only 1 works currently. I hope I can fix this soon (ext amplifier needed probably). We managed to put back that trim at the end. You need to put it on partially before you use the four screws at the back of the case. Then you put the case and everything in its place and you have enough space behind the trim (on the right side) that with a 90 degree screw driver you can fix the panel in its place.
I had an ATOTO F7 unit in my old Peugeot 307. I just got a steering wheel adapter for my car from Connects2 and all worked great (they have an adapter for C5 on their website). I was also able to reprogram the buttons as I saw fit. I'm not sure how deep the space behind the factory display is in your C5, but consider getting an ATOTO unit (one of their short depth models).
I mean, ATOTO did that for me as well, I got the steering wheel addon remote and gps module and one other thing I'm forgetting ( for a car without media controls on the wheel ) And, I only reviewed them positively 6 months after the installation, to make sure everything is working well.. Sometimes it is okay, Viofo also does that, other times it is a scam tactic to draw more buyers
My one is the exact same, I stuck it in a Mazda mx5 I’m going to sell just to bring it up to date and the CarPlay works fantastic as well as the play store to get more apps. cost me £37 all in and mine came with the gps antenna and reversing camera.
All of the android head units are made in the same 3 or so factories in China, and PSA CanBus compatible units are a niche, even though china also has the c5 x7. It's a hit or miss with the working features on those, my brother also bought one for his c4, and something's are annoying about it, some things work perfectly ( like opened door messages) I got an ATOTO head unit in a ford focus, I am not sure if atoto has PSA compatibility, but they do have an updated android os, and they so far released quite regularly so they are supporting their products. I am currently rocking an OEM RD45 in my c5 x7 with a simple orange display, preprogrammed from ebay for my car, which originally only has RD4 ( no 3.5mm aux / Bluetooth)
All the android headunits are "Chinese". Problem appears with all sellers of these, as there is only 1 or 2 real manufacturers who gets rebranded. Ideally you'll want a set up like in my 407, I still have the little screen connected for the features like parking sensors, warning messages etc. Headunit then only does music / sat nav with a connects2 adaptor for steering wheel controls. It is more involved to install and probably needs customising however.
Im working on a solution to get the can2010 radios for psg (NAC) that convert between it and can2004. Theres a whole scene of people doing this since nac units are more Modern, quicker and better suited for Android auto than the can2004 smeg radios, the only one that came oem for c5 x7. Tip: the Toyota proace were also delivered with the nac i bought mine used for just 160 pounds with capacitive screen. Arduino, can-shield and stuff needed for conversion were around 50 pounds.
I've seen it done on an X7, and there's an interesting thread about it on the French car forum. But none showed it in action and doesn't there have to be a frame?
hello savez vous de quel couleur sont les fil de commande au volant sur la même c5 tourer merci. sur la prise iso du véhicule, impossible de les faire fonctionne sur ma c5
Was it easy to figure out which cables you connected to the steering wheel remote? :) I've ordered an android head unit from navifans which is steering wheel compatible.
@@comcarclub Curious to see if its a common problem with more head units than just the Junson. But honestly. I'm happy if my radio just stops rebooting every 30 minutes.
@@davidhalvorsen4878 If oyur car is from 2010, your radio is probably an RNEG/MyWay (it has an sd card slot in the front). When I bought my car, I had one and it also rebooted every 30 minutes. As far as I know, there's little you can do. I replaced mine with an RNEG2 immediately
He doesnt have Hi Fi system. For the Hi Fi system to work, he needs to keep the RT6 headunit and source the proper wire harness and canbus. Much easier for 407 and a nightmare for the C5.
I was just talking to a mate of mine about that today. Do you have one? I'm interested in how it connects to the car's audio and if it can be wired into the car's 12V system as plugging it into the 12V socket is a poor solution
Love the video, I also have a c5 x7 tourer. I would be very interested in seeing the install of it. I can’t find any info on the French car forms or elsewhere about the dept of the area that holds the current sat nav screen. I was looking at a shallow head unit like the Kenwood dmx 8021 shallow body to see it if fits, so would love to see a install video to get a better idea.
Hi, I really appreciate the comment. I'm working on the video now, but it's so long and I have been so busy it's been impossible. But rest assured, I hope to upload it soon
Can you tell us after almost 2 months, is it worth? Will you find something better? What is something that you lost from original unit and you miss it?
Thanks for asking! Is it worth it? Yes, because Android Auto keeps saving my bacon, whether it's the traffic info or the ease with which I can select destinations. Also, the Spotify integration is very pleasant. Will I find something better? Perhaps, I'm still not sure. This unit's hardware is sucktacular, with terrible hardware and terrible integration, but the price of a proper Android HU scares me. Regarding the original, I miss the better steering wheel button integration and the outside temperature reading. Also, people could hear me better on the telephone .
@@comcarclub so factory microphone was better? And for parking sensors it has separate speaker now but it's showing front and back and works properly? No delays, because you change unit because of parking sensor incident? Also separate temperature sensor needs to be fitted?
Good evening, sir. So i have the same car and I have a problem with it and can't seem to find the solution. Long story long, you know when you put in reverse how your mirrors tilt down when the mirror button is in neutral (centre) position. Then when you put in drive, the mirrors go back up on their own. Yea, well mine used to perform that function with no mistake, every time. Until one day at the carwash they touched something and now it stopped. The only way for a mirror to tilt in reverse is to put the button left or right, but thats inconvenience since i want to look both sides. Do you know how to fix this issue? Thank you in advance. Best wishes from Bulgaria

The day my fixed-hub T-Shirt arrived I proudly wore it and as I ascended the hill towards work and then my clutch and DMF went and now I own a corolla!! What an embarrassing thing to wear that day! Just waiting to save up money to repair the C5 myself (SMF kit and rent a lift) (dealer wants 2000 for the job, they have the cheek to ask this after busting my power steering rack and fucking up my suspension height so no way). I loved my C5 but she'll no longer be my car. I'll watch these videos to reminisce!
I've noticed that you have changed RNEG to RNEG2 in 2022 year. Then, in 2023 you had (you suggested) problems with parking sensors... Next, also in 2023 you have mounted Android unit. After almost year, what whould you suggest to me, still having RNEG?
@@jarosawlisowicz5403 I put the RNEG2 back because I couldn't get used to the android unit. In your case, it all depends on what you want from the head unit. I reached the conclusion that what the RNEG2 gives me is enough and I can live with its problems vastly more than I can live with the problems of the android unit
