  • After two years in production, we jump on board the Bad Company Support 175' vessel in Antalya, Turkey with Chief Engineer Ryan who explains some of the challenges that BadCo and Damen team have faced during the build.
The largest of course is the replacement of the MTU starboard engine back in December. Damen decided to cut the upper deck to remove and install the new MTU engine, so the heli hanger and the large crane had to be removed. 11 tons of MTU 16V4000 came out.
Over the last two months she has been put back together in preparation for her big day - seatrial second week of March. We’re all a little nervous about it and hope all goes well. Delivery early April and 2-3 weeks of shake down trips in the Med, then she is officially joining the world tour. First stop likely Madeira in June.
The submarine is done and being delivered from Netherlands, Bell 505 chopper sitting in a container at Damen waiting to be let loose, Viking Billfish 38 being born now, while BadCo 50 hull is about to start. Rounding out the rest of the toys, 15 and 25 RIB. 3 jet skis, and 2 KTM electric motorcycles.
    Onward and upward!

My hat goes off to Ryan. Given a “new build” like this with the curve balls thrown at him and the Bad Company Team, you guys are rock stars. Looking forward to the next video.

Ryan sounds beat down and exhausted. Poor guy needs a vacation and a Red Bull. Yacht looks awesome. Can't wait for a full tour when it's done.

That’s going to be an amazing support vessel! Looks like you handled the engine replacement really well. Can’t imagine the level of stress to find out that’s what had to happen. Still a lot to do but looks like you have a great team!

    What an impressive vessel
I missed why engine had to be removed..
As a sailor..I am surprised the boat was not built with better route to remove an engine.
That was a ton of work
Thank you for the inside look😊😊

@@robertsloane1268it was a faulty valve that made it into production. Very small number they said made it thru into engines

Poor Ryan looks so tired, I can’t tell if you’re Aussie or Kiwi, either way your brain must be hurting with all of the things you need to remember to do. The BadCo team are lucky to have you. 🇦🇺 Can’t wait to see you guys on the ocean.

Ok I can’t believe that Damien would build a boat like this without planning for engine replacements. The fact there was discussion about how to do it really shocks me. I would think every component this is a major consideration as to where it’s placed and what is in the path to daylight. I would think this would be number two behind safety.

THIS IS AN AMAZING VESSEL 👏 😍..HOWEVER THIS SET BACK MUST BE VERY DISSAPOINTING TO SAY THE LEAST!!!!😢😮...I NEVER THOUGHT THIS COULD HAPPEN TO A MTU ENGINE!!!!...I WONDER WHO IS GOING TO BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE COST OF THIS REPAIR????...AND HOW MUCH WILL IT BE??.....ON A SHIP 🚢 OF THIS SIZE YOU WOULD THINK PLANS TO REMOVE THE ENGINE WOULD HAVE BEEN MADE MUCH EASIER!!!!...I CANT EMAGIN HOW ANTHONY MUST BE VERY DISSAPOINTED 😢😢😢.....
