My mom had BPD. She was an increibly loving and caring person but she would lash out on those she loved. She never lashed out on me because I understood her and we were really close but I've seen (emails) and heard some of hte stuff that she's said to others and it's like looking at a completely different person.
BPD is post-traumatic stress syndrome following narcissistic abuse (usually from growing up in a narcissistic household or after being married to a narcissist). I don't know what the stigma might be? Why does society not care who narcissists are? A covert narcissist is a true psychopath at his core. But nobody cares. People are stupid.
Oh yeah.... How could I possibly forget? You were very mean to me, you bully me all the time and since the last time we spoke was back in 2020 and you threatened that you want to be my ass and now you want to act all goody two shoes and pretend that that never happened seriously Chloe you are awful person with the awful soul I would never forgive you for the amount of hell that you put me through so don't act like you like Brianna better than that you like me cuz you and I were never friends and we could never be friends cuz I really don't like you
That advice at the end was spot on! That’s how I deal with my BPD I distract myself I go and get busy for my own sake. I run my own business, went back to school for my second engineering degree, taking care of my family, building connections with others. I sometimes just ignore that I’m experiencing BPD symptoms. I’m aware but they don’t consume me like before.
Mark is getting even better at picking pertinent questions. We hear the compassion and kindness in his voice. I really appreciated this young woman’s delivery and admire her courage. Not enough is said about mental illness and all the different challenges each conditions entail. Wishing her success and healing. She’s an inspiration.
Her fragility is palpable. Her horrendous childhood has made her very vulnerable and her whole being screams trauma. It sounds like her whole family has gone through generational trauma, which has been carried down to Brianna. I wish you peace, love and joy Brianna. I think you have gone through enough trauma in your life. Good luck with everything you do in life. I strongly sense how much you want to help yourself and others. Be kind to yourself too!
As someone who suffers from borderline personality disorder severely I so much empathize with this beautiful soul .... It is so hard to maintain simple friendships or see any kind of relationship it can seem so lonely .. out diagnosed is the same and our story is so similar... You are not alone babygirl
This is one thing that isn't said enough about BPD, the absolutely devastating loneliness that accompanies it after you've alienated your friends who don't understand you really don't want to feel this way. Then after you've ruined so many romantic relationships you don't even want to try again because the pain just isn't worth it. This leads to the absolutely devastating loneliness.
I have BPD and I fully believe you can live a full life if treated properly. I have had an incredible relationship for the past 4 years, all because I learned how to live with and treat my BPD. Its different in every case but we are NOT lost causes!
The shy little smile at the beginning was cute. She seems like a sweet girl. I hope she continues to build confidence and make her mark in this world. She was a tad nervous, but she still represented herself well. I really enjoy warming up to people like Brianna. It's very rewarding when help reassure them that they are OK, and they're still important despite any behavioral issues. Wish you all the best Brianna
I hope this lovely soul continues to find support and love in her community. She is so articulate and could really be such a helpful force in the space of Mental Health issues. My beautiful Niece took her own life after living with BPD for a few years. She was 21 years old. Every day was so difficult for her to navigate. I miss her so deeply. I am glad though that she is no longer struggling, it was agony to watch her in agony. XOX Love from Ireland to Brianna
@@Alpen_liber If you're going to state what you think are certainties, it goes without saying that you should be certain and should also be sure of your audience. This isn't the place.
@@Alpen_liber Prayer can save souls, and even though many faiths hold the belief that suicide is a gateway to damnation, it is not supported as such in the scriptures. If you want to help this person, instead of twisting the knife, pray for the soul of the woman that's been lost. You can save her if she needs saving and look after her if she was already saved.
@mikemccaine4229 Caucasian girl dress neatly on the surface if you see her in the street walking by, would you think that girl has mental issues? That's my point, there are many people out there who have issues and you don't know. They look like your average person.
i love when mark told her happy birthday, and her face lit up with a smile. it was refreshing to see...I pray for more times she can be happy and smile. prayers to you brianna!
Mental illness is exhausting to deal with, both for the person experiencing it and those around them. It's such an insidious illness and has caused so much heart ache. We as a society need to put more importance on mental health services and make them free.
She’s so young yet so strong. You can see that she’s working hard for her future. Beautiful girl. God bless you. Hope you heal soon and achieve everything you wish for in life.
How brave and unselfish of a human soul! Why do traumatized people want to help others so badly? Do they want us to never experience trauma? - It's Absolutely Incredible, how brave Brianna. This interview hit me hard....... ;
Why do traumatized people want to help others so badly?? Because they never want anyone to feel the pain they have gone through!! Also, helping others often helps you to heal... Common sense!
Thank you for giving Brianna a platform to express herself. Mental health can be so crippling and so many communities lack the tools for children and adults. We need a new system to help everyone.
My husband has BPD and she explained it so well. I am my husband's "favorite person " and as much as I love him it does become an obsession sometimes. Thank you for sharing your story . It's so helpful for us all.
@Sarah my partner has BPD and I understand how they could feel scared if they don’t understand the illness . I know it’s hard to share your true feelings and thinking with your partner but if you do it helps them understand . For me it was not knowing or understanding . So I was judging and feeling resentment . When you open up it helps a lot . Wishing you the best
I agree, she has a lot of insight, I stopped trying to have serious relationships because romantically I didnt want to live with anyone and I never wanted kids so staying away from emotional relationships takes away major triggers what her fp did is evil
My mom briefly took that same medication but she hated the way it made her feel. On and off all different meds all her life that just didn’t work for her. She ended up giving up all together and became a recluse. She ran away from our family to FL and lived out of her mind for 10-15 years before realizing she had end stage cancer and died at alone at home in hospice care. I did what I could for her and it was extremely hard to watch. I wish you the very best and hope you can find meds that will work. Just don’t give up like my mom did. You can absolutely be a functioning member of society, be a good mom, a good person even with mental illness. Don’t let it define you. You will not end up like your father the same way I did not end up like my mother❤
Brianna, Your resilience is astounding 😳 You are an amazing human. I live in FL (Ormond Beach) and I wish I could treat you! I am a year away from obtaining my PhD in Clinical Psychology with a concentration in forensic psychology. One of my practicum rounds was in a state hospital so I understand your concerns about the treatment of residents and where your future goals are headed. Your auditory hallucinations (hearing voices at work - Symptoms of Schizoaffective (instead of saying you have Schizophrenia, Schizoaffective, and bipolar b/c Schizophrenia + Bipolar = Schizoaffective, you can just say “Schizoaffective” if you want ❤️) can be treated with cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). The gold standard therapy for BPD is Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). This will help with regulating emotions, changing unproductive emotions, creating positive emotions, and so much more. Finding a therapist (we ALL need one - I have one): 1. Check with your insurance. Get a list of people in your area. SHOULD BE SOMEONE WITH A PSYD OR A PHD. Not to an A-hole, but masters level individuals are not equipped for your level of awesomeness 💫 2. Read the bios and see if you think you can build a therapeutic rapport with this person. 3. Do they know about CBT, DBT, or other therapies that interest you? 4. Anything else you can think of. You are interviewing them. Don’t be afraid to ask questions. Good luck to you ❤❤❤
(Florida resident) My ex partner was baker acted and taken to the “hospital” by police. When I called them the next morning I was told “The doctor will be in on Monday and then you can talk to them about a possible release date.” He had a learning disability and I was terrified of them sticking a pen and paper infront of him for voluntary 6 month hospitalization. I called everyday letting them know that his “72hour wait” ended on Tuesday morning and he will be released then. They tried many times to manipulate the situation with iffy wording like “we’ll see,” and “soon.” I myself have been voluntarily baker acted when I was a minor, was escorted to hospital by parent. I was given a cocktail of different medications to try, some almost caused severe symptoms like passing out/vomiting profusely. There is a huge problem with money hungry psychiatrist and “hospitals” 4:44
It’s a disaster everywhere in this country though. In CA we don’t have a “baker act”, but the Los Angeles county jail is known locally as the largest psych hospital in the state. Our jails and prisons here are packed with mentally ill and developmentally disabled people. And as for being restrained and injected with sedatives against your will, it’s exactly the same in CA. In the hospital it’s called a “Dr strong” and happens every single day.
Facts. I have heard it's especially bad in Florida. They call it the Florida shuffle and it needs to be reported on. Shuffle in and out of different rehabs. You have 2 choices shuffle or jail. Shuffle will get you a (conservatorship over your money and healthcare )and broke.
When she was talking about people with mental illness being failed I felt that. Especially those of us with Borderline Personality Disorder. I got diagnosed in 2019 and I live in East Tennessee, finding a therapist who is qualified or willing to work with a person who has BPD is nearly impossible. On top of that, there are no medications that are FDA approved to treat a personality disorder. I do my best to handle it but i’m 38 years old and I’ve had over 120 jobs since I graduated high school because of my paranoia, I think everyone there hates me or I have issues interacting normally with people or I get into an argument with someone. Sometimes I have bad splitting episodes and I will destroy things in my house and cut or stab my arm with knives. I have issues with binge eating and reckless spending. BPD is the most painful, isolating thing you can live with. Even someone canceling plans with me or not texting me back feels like someone died, I will literally grieve for days and I can go from adoring someone to hating their guts and everyone associated with them in a split second. I feel every emotion times 1,000. My husband is my FP and he has been a saint dealing with this. There’s a reason why so many borderlines have at least one SA, it’s because we feel so alone like no one can understand us or help.
Guess what. I have bpd, psychiatrics are handing it out like hot cakes and its having a huge negative effect on society. Maybe BPD is real, it feels real doesnt it? But look what it does to you, youre so pathetically sorry for yourself and you think a pill will save you? You want a pill to define who you are the rest your life? Either way, that's impossible. Your faith in that pill will be what defines you. Not the pill. Instead of relying on a pill, i suggest to try and heal on your own. Go against the stream and find a path that doesnt make u so miserable. Somthing brings you comfort, pleasure and joy. With all the jobs youve lost and the realtionships that have been destroyed, youve probably buried all your hapiness under such negative weight and thinking. Being bpd doesnt mean hopless and doomed to fail. people are too quick to feel sorry for themselves. It seems impossible cus facing reality is hard and straight up terrifying. But letting go of the pills, the labels, the abuse and trauma, and figuring out what your issue is and why youre hating yourself and holding grudges. Your life is comprehended through your own lense, not anyone elses. No one see's life the way you do. The brain is so complex, dont let bpd be the thing to inhibit you from growing. You, just like EVERYONE ELSE will die and we dont know where were going. We like to imagine things, but thats by faith. The reality is nobody knows, not even science, so why not just make it worth while and try to discover meaning yourself, and not through the lense of a pill that will masks your unique understanding on life? You have BPD, own it, get to know it, why are you so afraid of it? your abuser cant give your innocence back. There's no sense in dwelling on it. But if pills havent worked for you try somthing else
A lot of therapist don’t really like diagnosing patients with BPD because the symptoms are so similar to Bipolar Disorder. I got diagnosed last year and have been taking Lamictal. I feel like its has been working at first, but now I still have symptoms, so I asked my doctor to increase my dosage soon. It has been so hard to manage a relationship with friends and family. My husband refuses to give on me and always tell me that I don’t have to apologize. I have emotionally abused him and have episodes where I even hit him. My episodes usually last between 2-7 days. Depending on the situation, my favorite person will come and go. When I’m anxious, I will buy things without thinking or make plans that I end up regretting later. Rejection and minor misunderstandings will trigger me into an explosive episode. I absolutely hate misplacing things and will go off like it is the end of the world. When my episodes are over, I feel like a bad person and that I don’t deserve to be in other people’s life’s. I am too afraid to hurt myself and think about how my children would feel if I did. I pray that one day I can be normal, whether on meds or off of them.
I hope this video helps her get support she needs. It sounds like she feels very alone so hopefully she will find out how much people here will care about her. I'm so glad she can tell us about the positives with BPD too, and shows her positivity in spite of her mental illness.
Brianna, thank you so much for sharing your story. Life is struggle enough without your conditions. Totally awesome that you want to serve others this way. I have no doubt you can achieve this and more. ❤
Something many people don't realize about mental illness is that it (almost?) always comes from childhood trauma. I worked in mental health and I haven't seen one case of mental illness that didn't include child abuse on some level. Our mental health system is a mess. It's heartbreaking. God bless this young woman.
My daughter has mental health struggles which are hereditary from her father's side. She's on many meds and still struggles. The mind is so very complex.
A lot, but not even close to all. I recommend reading Dr. Hare's book about psychopathy/ASPD "Without Conscience etc" Plenty of cases in there of ASPD/psychopaths who didn't experience any significant emotional trauma, abuse, or the like. Fascinatingly, there is a case in there of identical twin girls with a loving home life, one twin was clearly psychopathic and the other twin clearly was very non psychopathic. It may be hard to accept, but some people just come in, for a lack of a better term, evil. This only really relates to psychopathy though. But yes, a lot of people with NPD, BPD, and the like tend to have gone through major trauma, especially during childhood.
I have bpd and I learned more from her about it than my last therapist. I definitely have had "favorite people" without knowing it until now. She's amazing and I think she'll go far in life. ❤
Briana, you're a beautiful young woman with an old soul. Which I'm sure is due to the fact that you were robbed of your childhood. Do not be side tracked by your anxiety. Stay your course; keep moving forward. You got this!
How I just want to give her a hug and support. To have no one on your side with these conditions is beyond awful. I have mental health issues but nothing like this. I just can't imagine. The Florida system sounds horrendous. I wish you every success in your journey to making a difference. You will do it I'm sure. Sending you so much love from New Zealand sweetheart. You're a strong young, beautiful woman.
I see her doing great things for mental health for lots of people. Her strength is beyond measurable, I couldn't imagine going and feeling like that everyday......please know ur amazing and strong that's why u hear voices degrading u, they see ur bright empowering strength and want to ruin it. Much love and respect for you Brianna
My ex-wife has borderline personality disorder, but has refused to acknowledge (blames others, justifies her behaviour, etc.). She had a traumatic upbringing and it definitely negatively impacted her ability to be in stable relationships. After many years of chaos and uncertainty our relationship finally imploded. I honestly tried……. In retrospect I wish I knew more about this debilitating issue back then. I don’t think it would have changed the eventual relationship outcome, but it would have made my understanding better and increased my sympathy towards her. The human mind is so fragile….😢
Heartbreaking story she’s been through so much , such a beautiful young girl I wish her all the love and luck in the world , she’d make a perfect advocate for mental health
Mark, thank you for posting this video. I have lived with BPD for the last 12 years of my life and I related to a lot of what she said. It is both a blessing and a curse to have. Best of luck Brianna and thank you for sharing your story. ❤
Why do so many people come to this channel just to downvote? Like what are you giving a dislike to? You want these people to be silenced and go away? wtf
I have borderline and ptsd and am in a stable relationship for almost 8 years, a job, a home, and a family. I have been (and currently am) in therapy for many, many years, and I will always continue to better myself. I often don't talk about it because people often assume the worst. Meanwhile, I have good, solid friendships for 10+ years and longer. Have I made mistakes? Yes, absolutely. Did I learn from them? Yes, absolutely. I will always continue to better myself and do my best for my loved ones. Please be aware that we come in different ways and different levels.. not every person with BPD will be dishonest, manipulative, etc. We are human as well. If you have BPD, get that help if you can, learn about yourself, and find your good and bad sides. Teach yourself how to control it and deal with it. BPD is painful, it's rough, and you will take it to the grave, but you can grow old with it and have a life with it.
Brianna, I'm so sorry that the mental health system has traumatized you and I'm so proud of you for recognizing that and striving to advocate for those of us with mental illness. Just keep on keeping on - for yourself, the friend you lost and the countless others I'm sure your advocacy will help
Although simply put, I felt that at the end when you said that you hope her challenges stay out of her way. It was both relieving & comforting @ the same time. Side note : May is Mental Health Awareness month. 💚🎗️💚 (green ribbon)
What an astounding young lady. So well spoken, in so much pain yet still carrying on. Things are going to continue to improve, I can feel it. Brianna we love you. ❤
My ex had BPD and it’s extremely hard to maintain a relationship, my ex is beautiful and highly intelligent but her mood disorders and acting out is tough . I still love her and miss her but I had to walk away as painful as that was . You try and try to work it out but nothing changes . It’s not there fault as I learned later about the disorder. I wish this young lady the best . At least she’s trying ❤
Dear Brianna, You, my dear young lady, are a highly intelligent and highly sensitive human being. I will not forget your story. I believe every word you have said, AND I believe you when you say you will make changes!! God bless you!! 🌺❤️🙏✌️💪😘
Me too. I don't even try to entertain being in a relationship. I hurt my ex so bad. But I didn't know I had BPD. Hurting him made me hurt myself... It was then I went to the doctor to find out what was wrong with me. So I have been single since 2017. I can't do it.
my girlfriend had BPD, i have schizo affective disorder. i can definately relate to her, my girlfriend was really jealous wrongly and we both had troubles with alcohol. one night with getting drunk she tried to kill and strangle me wich after we had to break up. i loved her but had to play a psychiatrist and soothe her a lot altough i had problems myself. after what shes done i stil miss her
Even in a severely failing system, it's spectacular that Brianna still has hope to make a difference and advocate for those like her and her late friend. Advocating for oneself is difficult even without mental health hurdles. I truly wish her the best on her continued work and journey.
I really relate to you're story sweetheart. I'm writing about mental health here in Australia 🇦🇺. 💜 Well done for coming forward 👏 and sharing you're inner soul.
I’ve had my diagnosis for over 20 years and never- not once have I been able to articulate it the way Brianna does in this interview. I have no doubt she’s a great writer ❤
Very intelligent young lady. There are so many people struggling in so many ways in this country and nobody is getting real help. I pray that changes for people.
Thank you for sharing your story, Brianna. Listening to stories like yours has helped me gain an insight into a health issue that I have often heard about, but did not understand at all. You seem to be such a strong young woman that has overcome so much in your life. I wish you nothing but the best in your future.
It’s so disappointing how the stigma still exists even with mental health professionals… Yes, they have a textbook and clinical understanding but they will never truly understand what it’s like without having experienced it themselves. The best psychologist I ever had was someone with lived experience of mental illness. I wish there were more like her.
You seem so sweet and kind and I think you should be extremely proud of where you are today. It's truly not easy juggling with school, work, and mental illness, especially if you don't have a good support system. If you keep going, I truly think you will be successful!!
As someone who is also diagnosed with BPD & PTSD I would love to give brianna a hug. Your not alone. Keep going. Your so strong and you don't even know it.
Brianna you are such a beautiful, brave, well spoken ,kind young lady with a heart of Gold. You have been through so much 😢 And you still want to help others suffering with mental health issues and help fix the broken system in Florida. I have so much respect for you dear and I wish 🙏 you much blessings of health, love, happiness and a long & fulfilling life. I am a mother in Florida with a 23 yrs old Son just diagnosed with BPD. I am educating myself with all the info. I can find so I can help my Son cope with his symptoms and live a long fulfilling life also. Thank you so much for being so brave and sharing your story. You definitely made a difference in my life. Continue to be the voice for mental health advocates for all in Florida, Let Us know how We can help you in this journey to recovery.
Great Quote: It´s like you´re being punished for needing help. Thank you for sharing your experiences with us. All the best to you. Sending love from Mexico.
It should be said that people who suffer from BPD also have high rates of perpetrating abuse in intimate relationships. I was seriously abused in an almost 10 year long relationship with a woman who had BPD. The abuse was physical, emotional, verbal, consistent and systematic, and highly manipulative. The experience inspired me to become a psychologist. I have great empathy for those who suffer from mental illness but folks with BPD are still hard for me to work with and even talk to.
People don’t deserve to be disposable. Whether they have a disability, lgbtq, low income, or survivors of abuse. We all deserve care, accommodations and sustainability.
Sending strength and love on the wind to you, Brianna. I also live with these two conditions, and life can be so hard. I appreciate your want to advocate for us. Choose life always. Blessed be... blessed be.
I am Bipolar II and have BPD. Fortunately, my husband is my hero and helps me on the daily. The docs have finally found the right combination of meds and I cycle much less now. I still have some "Wow that escalated quickly," kind of moments, but I haven't been in the hospital for 7 years now. Hang in there Brianna. Keep fighting! You're worth it!!!!!
Brianna is smart, articulate, thoughtful, empathetic, and that is just what I see here. I hope she can connect with a therapy group who can support her. I wonder if Alanon would be helpful for her. I hope Brianna keeps seeking until she finds her own solutions. She has creative abilities that I hope she will pursue. May God bless her and guide her. Thank you, Mark, for showing how mental health issues are prevalent and we have to accept and help those who truly need compassion and not judgment. Many have been through hell and have survived and thrived. I have also been the scapegoat to different people throughout my life due to this role I was assigned in an alcoholic family. ❤️🇨🇦🙏
It's amazing that you survived your suicide attempt at 12 years old without any permanent disfigurements and I hope you can continue to work on the mental component as well and fulfill your life's purpose . You seem like a lovely person and I wish you all the best !
Brianna -- you are such an inspiration! Life hasn't been fair to you but you can prevail, sweet girl. Please don't give up! Sometimes people give up on you -- that's because they don't understand you. You're bright and intelligent and you can make a difference, especially helping others who experience the disorders you do. I recently lost my daughter due to her mental illness and the choices she made in life. I now advocate for the mentally ill and provide clothing to the homeless in memory of my daughter. You go girl! You got this!
I hope Brianna reads the comments - it seems everyone is rooting for her! Such a brave and articulate young woman. Her desire to advocate reform in the mental health system or at least highlight the lack of care is commendable. Mark I do hope you / we can help facilitate that somehow. I.T training or equipment, creative writing courses, the right support if there are future episodes. I don't know they're just a few ideas. I would say thoughts and prayers but this girl deserves more!!
As someone who has suffered from BPD, and still experiences a little bit of it, I can completely relate to everything she said when he asked her to describe what it means to have it.
@sv9123 I still have it a little bit, but for the most part, it's significantly diminished. This is due to a combination of things: 1. I got away from the toxic situation that was predominantly feeding my BPD 2. I read a lot of self-help books. 3. I work with younger ppl, so I took a lot of classes on how to interact with, and what to expect from them. In doing so, I learned a lot of patience. 4. I am very strong in my faith. Through it, I've learned even more patience, gratitude, compassion, understanding, selflessness, etc. along with many other great things that have helped me to change and to cope with both my past and present. 5. When I had an IUD put in, it unexpectedly helped to balance me out. (Sorry if TMI) 6. I was blessed to have an opportunity to work with a really great therapist for 2 years, who thoroughly helped me work through my trauma. 7. I've matured over time and have done a lot of inner reflecting. I have also significantly changed my mannerisms/behaviorisms and the way I perceive things to be, versus how they may actually be, and why.
I wish people with BPD were more regularly diagnosed. I’m pretty sure my EX GF has BPD. Her temper and childlike manner was like no other. Also love bombing, devaluing and discarding.
Wow another one from Ft Lauderdale Florida where I live. It's crazy!! Another great interview Mark ❤. I think she did great with her interview and if she can reach just one person in telling her story that would be great but I think that she will definitely be able to reach more than one person I really liked her a lot and I am so sorry for all she has went through and I am sending her so many prayers🙏
Hi. I have mental health issues myself. So I know how hard it can be. Glad shes raising awareness on mental illness. Does anyone else think this lady sounds like Wyona Rider? Xx ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️
This woman's resilience and strength and humanity and self awareness of all she has been through and all of it's effects on her is incredible. She will make a very understanding and supportive person if she ends up in a helping profession one da y. I wish her all the very best for now and the future ❤🙏
It’s crazy because my BPD has been so different from hers. Which is why they say there are 4 types of BPD. So cool to see someone have BPD and CPTSD like me talk so freely.
Her story hits hard because this is happening across the country. We are 100% in a mental health crisis. Much of our societies struggles with violence and drug addiction are symptoms of mental health troubles. If we had more affordable housing and better healthcare and educational systems, it would dramatically improve everyone’s quality of life. Unfortunately, our country makes a financial killing off of the struggles of its people.
Wishing you the best, Brianna. You are doing impressively well. I lived in Florida 15 years and ended up homeless as well - 7 months couch/motel/car hopping and then 9 months in a tent at a shelter. Eventually I escaped to New Mexico. I also have BPD, CPTSD, and I struggle with Bipolar 2 as well.
To anyone who feels uncomfortable/self conscious about therapy/medication. Just know you are fine just the way you are, it’s the therapy and medication that helps suppress the daily obstacles to let you be the best version of yourself that you can be!
Mark, if you ever want an interview of someone overcoming BPD hit me up when your in Vegas next. Ive overcome depression, ssri's, childhood trauma, bpd, anger mania. Id love to steer the conversation into one of hope and strategy. xo
This isn't personal to Brianna in any way, but I refuse to let myself be charmed by anyone with BPD after the experience I had getting burned by someone who had it. It's actually harder for me to watch the BPD interviewees on this channel than the hardcore drug addicts or prostitutes. But I appreciate that Mark tries to cover it all.
I know what you're talking about. It's not like I completely disbelieve the interviewees with BPD but you never hear them talking about their own toxicity. That's part of the disorder I guess. After seeing how cold and narcissistic people with BPD can be I try avoid them at all costs.
@@noneyabizness Not the ones I've met and not most of the intervieewes w/BPD at least. You might have other experiences but it's rare that someone w/BPD talks about their abusive behavior to it's complete extent. Just compare the subreddits r/BPD and r/BPDlovedones.
Mark voice seems tired. I really hope he take a break. For me I had to take a break for 2 years just from these stories.. I can only imagine how he feels🥺 I love you mark you’re a great person🫶🏾
Thank you for sharing beautiful soul. ❤ Your mental health journey reminds me of my own in some respects. My mental health struggles when I was your age were almost unbearable. I have bipolar 1, CPTSD and borderline traits but I didn’t know it back then. My depression was so bad it felt like my brain was actively atrophying. Now I’m 40, married with kids and have a stable life and a good psychiatrist and good med combo and I’m gong to graduate college soon. I also have physical illnesses that complicate things but they’re well managed. Most days I don’t even feel like I have a mental illness. I never could have imagined how much better I feel now. I’m just saying that to let you and others know it’s possible to feel worlds better, better than you can imagine when you are in that dark place. Glad to see you are on a good path and your mindset is right. You are doing good things and will do great things that help others in big ways, I can tell. ❤
This young lady is speaking the absolute truth about the "psychiatric" community. There are no guidelines in place to address the wider issues of the mentally ill. After a three-day hold the only game plan is to hand the patient a prescription or offer them a monthly call to a therapist. I commented on the last BPD interview because my daughter suffered from this issue prior to her death from an overdose a little over a month ago. During her time under "treatment" she still managed to attack my brother with a hatchet causing severe injuries to his head, she intentionally cut off her own hand while she was pregnant with her third child, and she eventually stabbed her boyfriend in the leg after which he died from loss of blood. Even after all these incidents occurred, and intervention by the criminal justice system, she was still free to walk the streets with no considerations of her violent tendencies (due to her experiencing serious breaks with reality at times) and there was never, ever any concrete plan to address her problems on a long-term basis.
I’m 42 year old man I suffer from bpd the most valuable lesson I’ve learned in, is to learn to love yourself be proud that you’re not a victim. You’re a survivor.
BPD here. Mark, thank you for asking “what are the positives about BPD”. There’s a negative stigma around BPD so questions like this helps us. 🙏🏻
Absolutely does
y e s.
you feel all the parts of life.
My mom had BPD. She was an increibly loving and caring person but she would lash out on those she loved. She never lashed out on me because I understood her and we were really close but I've seen (emails) and heard some of hte stuff that she's said to others and it's like looking at a completely different person.
Imagine asking "what are the positives about being a psychopath"?
BPD is post-traumatic stress syndrome following narcissistic abuse (usually from growing up in a narcissistic household or after being married to a narcissist). I don't know what the stigma might be? Why does society not care who narcissists are? A covert narcissist is a true psychopath at his core. But nobody cares. People are stupid.
I went to highschool with her. You never know what someone truly deals with. I love you Brianna.
WTF you mean you went to school with her??? She never met you before in her life so stop all that cap and have a wonderful day
Oh yeah.... How could I possibly forget? You were very mean to me, you bully me all the time and since the last time we spoke was back in 2020 and you threatened that you want to be my ass and now you want to act all goody two shoes and pretend that that never happened seriously Chloe you are awful person with the awful soul I would never forgive you for the amount of hell that you put me through so don't act like you like Brianna better than that you like me cuz you and I were never friends and we could never be friends cuz I really don't like you
And you seriously owe me a big apology for what you put me through!

Not enough is said about mental illness and all the different challenges each conditions entail. Wishing her success and healing. She’s an inspiration.

DBT Therapy!!!.
Live it and go get some help.
Without therapy and left untreated BPD never changes!.
It’s called anxiety people with mental health disorders struggle with it
I hope this lovely soul continues to find support and love in her community. She is so articulate and could really be such a helpful force in the space of Mental Health issues. My beautiful Niece took her own life after living with BPD for a few years. She was 21 years old. Every day was so difficult for her to navigate. I miss her so deeply. Mental illness is exhausting to deal with, both for the person experiencing it and those around them. It's such an insidious illness and has caused so much heart ache. We as a society need to put more importance on mental health services and make them free.

How brave and unselfish of a human soul!
Why do traumatized people want to help others so badly?
Do they want us to never experience trauma? -
It's Absolutely Incredible, how brave Brianna.
This interview hit me hard....... ;
Because of our pain we can be truly empathetic and we just want to help others get ahead quicker than we did
Takes one to know one
Why do traumatized people want to help others so badly??
Because they never want anyone to feel the pain they have gone through!! Also, helping others often helps you to heal... Common sense!
We don't want others to feel the inner emotional pain that we feel inside.
We don't want others to feel what we have
Thank you for giving Brianna a platform to express herself.
Mental health can be so crippling and so many communities lack the tools for children and adults. We need a new system to help everyone.
So so true 😢
Having BPD and CPTD as well ... its is the worst I can't imagine having schizophrenia paid with schizo-effective as well. Praying for you girl.

Brianna,
Your resilience is astounding 😳 You are an amazing human.
Finding a therapist (we ALL need one - I have one):
1. Check with your insurance. Get a list of people in your area. SHOULD BE SOMEONE WITH A PSYD OR A PHD. Not to an A-hole, but masters level individuals are not equipped for your level of awesomeness 💫
2. Read the bios and see if you think you can build a therapeutic rapport with this person.
3. Do they know about CBT, DBT, or other therapies that interest you?
4. Anything else you can think of. You are interviewing them. Don’t be afraid to ask questions. Good luck to you ❤❤❤
Mark, your gentle approach to some people is an amazing skill you have.
Smart and well spoken young lady. Hope she sticks to her studies and goes on to live a happy and healthy life.
What is an “SA”? I’m not familiar with a lot of the abbreviations.
Is “FP” favorite person?
@@Stuck-on-Stuck SA is for $exual a$$Ault. Hope that helps, I'm trying to have my comment not get removed. And yes, FP is for favorite pertain.

Hare's book about psychopathy/ASPD "Without Conscience etc"
Plenty of cases in there of ASPD/psychopaths who didn't experience any significant emotional trauma, abuse, or the like.

You’re kind to say this bc my ex husband would respond with violence and (r)apes

Absolutely. Thank you Mark!
Great attitude!

I just want to wrap my arms around this young lady and hug her til the pain is gone❤
People don’t deserve to be disposable. Whether they have a disability, lgbtq, low income, or survivors of abuse. We all deserve care, accommodations and sustainability.

this is why it wouldn't hurt to be kind to anyone we meet because we never know what they went thru.

How did you get past it?
@sv9123 I still have it a little bit, but for the most part, it's significantly diminished. This is due to a combination of things:
1. I got away from the toxic situation that was predominantly feeding my BPD
(Sorry if TMI)
She has the saddest eyes I’ve ever seen. My heart goes out her. I’m so sorry.
Id love to steer the conversation into one of hope and strategy. xo
💜💜💜
Thanks Brianna, a big hug from an italian BPD
Fla is one of those places of many that tell you , there is no such thing as mental illness and walk it off.. prayers that this young lady makes it
This isn't personal to Brianna in any way, but I refuse to let myself be charmed by anyone with BPD after the experience I had getting burned by someone who had it.
@@Erik_1538 most of us actually do talk about own toxicity, this one interview doesn’t speak for all of us.
@@noneyabizness Not the ones I've met and not most of the intervieewes w/BPD at least. You might have other experiences but it's rare that someone w/BPD talks about their abusive behavior to it's complete extent. Just compare the subreddits r/BPD and r/BPDlovedones.
60% of sexworkers have bpd lots of addicts have it too. Your not going to escape personality disorders on this channel
The fact that you’re here and talking about this is miracle and is a result of your superhuman intellect, bravery, strength and faith.❤️
I’m 42 year old man I suffer from bpd the most valuable lesson I’ve learned in, is to learn to love yourself be proud that you’re not a victim. You’re a survivor.
