He isn't repairing the plane with a duct tape. It's a special tape called speed tape that costs around 50€/roll. It's actually certified to be used to quick-repair planes. CaptainJoe explained it in one of his videos.

The guy with the “duct tape” is not doing anything wrong. The tape is actually called speed tape, and its made out of aluminium, it prevents small parts on the engine to fall of until the plane gets its next service.

The tape you saw that guy using is called speed tape, it’s an aluminium pressure-sensitive tape used to do minor repairs on aircraft and racing cars. It is used as a temporary repair material until a more permanent repair can be carried out. It has an appearance similar to duct tape, for which it is sometimes mistaken, but its adhesive is capable of sticking on an airplane fuselage or wing at high speeds, hence the name.

The duct tape used to cover the engine cowling is actually a “speed tape” made of aluminum foil and it can withstand high and low temperature differences, moisture, strong winds, and other flight conditions. It is used as a temporary fix for a non-critical component of flight and to avoid flight delay or even cancellation.

You would think people would have common sense and assume its something like this, but of course they jump to the conclusion that this guy is just slacking on his job when multiple lives are at stake.
I was going to say it looks like some kind of butyl tape. That is some pretty tough and sticky stuff; it can patch a hole in a speed boat even if its applied under water. There is a decent chance that the repair with that tape was at least temporarily stronger than what was originally there.

For people who are not aircraft mechanics the “duct tape” is actually called speed tape and its used to temporarily keep things as rivets and screws in place until the flight is over, both military and commercial aircraft use this

it highly depends on the reason for which you turn vegan. If it is for animal pain reasons it would most probably be okay. If it is for environmental resons you have to look on the impakt of this prozess to figure out. But if you go vegan for taste reasons, you probably stay vegan.

I used to catch lizards as a kid all the time with no issue at all. I'd catch them early in the morning as they were trying to sun themselves on rocks to warm up after the cold night. But when I caught one as an adult (I always caught them by the tails) it detached it's tail and scared the crap out of me. I wouldn't say it's harmless, yes the lizard survives, but can't drop it's tail again.

He wasn't "fixing a plane." Have you every seen when the cars pull in to the pit at a Nascar race, sometimes they have damage from brushing up against other cars, that causes rough spots in the body. These rough spots cause drag at lower speeds. At higher speed, like in an airplane, it can cause damage. You can see the tape is metalized. It' covers any defects until the plane can get service done on it by mechanics.

1:26 it's killing me hearing "he was caught using duck tape" and those girls laughing. He was using aluminum tape on minor holes causing exposure to the mechanics. Using a credit card is the exacted same tool you would use to remove air bubbles from between the tape and metal.
It would look like it to the inexperienced person but it's normal to seal holes like that.

Yeah i work at fedex express and i was about to point out the same thing. we use the exact same aluminum tape on mail containers and aircraft to fix minor holes as well. Edit: I forgot to mention its only a temporary fix till the equipment is scheduled for a repair day or arrives at a facility that has the spare time and proper tools/materials to repair it.

A fact: on the plane that was actualy not a duct tape, that is called speed tape. Made espectialy for planes, it is like aluminium tape. A man put this speed tape on a wooden board for 20 years, it was almost impossible to take it off. So if you are in a plane and see someone fixing the plane with "duct tape", don't be worried, they are helping you :)

It's Aluminum tape- its really durable. The whole point is to leave a smooth surface on otherwise rough spots of the plane's paint job or external rivets or where two panels aren't quite perfectly flush to each other anymore. It helps- though only very slightly- to improve aerodynamics and fuel efficiency.

that could’ve been something we call speed tape.. it’s basically used to seal air locks that usually come loose around the engine cowl. when an airliner has flights back to back, it’s an efficient quick fix rather than holding up dozens of flights to fix one airlock. or it could’ve been duck tape.. idk. i work on military planes , so civilians do things differently.

Duct tape was originally used to patch holes in war planes durning the world wars. It was also used to keep moisture out of ammo boxes
Yea idk why people really think homies gonna use duct tape to fix a plane. Everything you do on an aircraft has to be documented and the faa would be on someone’s ass if they did some stupid shit. Basically even if it seems like someone is doing something sketchy to the plane it is 99% of the time the right thing to do because the faa will find out and throw your ass in jail if it’s not.
