Hi, I had the same problem and fixed the wires myself. It did the noise and the movement but I haven't heard it fill the ice cube tray with water. How long does it take?
I think it's on a 12-hour cycle or so. I had ice dump the next afternoon and ever since I fixed it my icebox is back to being full all the time. I hope yours works soon, might need to check if any more wires are damaged. But I would give it a full 24-hour and you should have something happening.
My ice maker stopped working last month, can’t believe this is the reason. I only have 1 broken wire but this is freakin ridiculous! I saw somewhere there’s a class action lawsuit being filed since you really can’t buy parts and have to buy a new door unless you do something like this.
Can you post a link where you saw reference to the class action lawsuit being filed? This affects not only this Kenmore model by my Whirlpool model WRS588 & many more. Thanks.
What gauge wire did you use to extend the existing wires?

If you when , your check will be about $38.
is it still up and good..??
YES! fixed it 3 months ago and its still working like normal as of today.
You just simply go by a new door from the manufacturer! It’s only $800 or more , no guarantee it will last , and a big P I T A to swap out!
