It’s the safest place to grab one underwater. Hands in the gills works above water but underneath they have the control. It also immobilizes them as well.
Hey Man, i got one in a country where spearfishing is illegal so i cant name it but if you want to see a bigger one speared then somehow contact me, i have videos of me and the fish and everything, 1.22m and 14.6kg
I spearfished a giant in Cold Lake a lot o years ago, that I couldn't get my fingers in its eyes, I have really big hands, I am 6' 2". I am sure it was a bit bigger than that one. I always used a hawaiian sling, my favorite tool for big fish.
Now I understand the orange line. Well done. Classic eyeball pinch seals the deal. Congrats. Thanks for the video.
Thanks for watching 👍 it does work very well lol
It's amazing how a pike sits on bottom then sees the danger from diver and splits!! Pretty great video
Thank you 👍
team no kill, sad story !!
Right on! I never even considered that a pike record with a spear would be just beyond 20#
Yes it’s not very big actually, for speargun it is a lot bigger but I was using a sling (much harder weapon)
i speared a 27.5lb 45 inch pike in 2020. 🤷🏼♂️ Not an every day thing but we spear good size pike every summer
Nice go for the speargun record I think it’s around 28-29 pounds 👍
@@tytanventures Im always on the hunt....🤙🏼
Why spear fishing record for pike is only 9,8kg?? Bigger fish wont let us near enough to shoot or why?
The record is with a pole spear which is much harder to use than a speargun and yes big pike are hard to get close to usually 👍
Is that lost echo lake?
Thats SO COOL!! I really want to try this. It sucks we cannot spear fish from the surface in SASK. This we can do if its underwater.
Looked like fun
Definitely would recommend 👍
Nice northern! Here in Iowa our rivers are too muddy to snorkel but we still noodle lol
The dreaded eye hold
my uncle caught one that was 24 pounds
Nice that’s a big one 👍
Why did you gouge out his eyes?

@@tytanventures you can also hold them behind the head
Yes but your grip can slip free unlike the eye hold.

Very nice fish btw, looking forward to finally moving to a country where spearfishing is legal
Yeah it’s awesome that it is legal here 👍
