For writing I very much liked the RM2 better.
Get a Paperlike screen protector, it makes it feel like you are writing on paper. I have one on my iPad because I draw on it. Makes a world of difference.
I LOVE MINE! It is the best tablet I’ve ever bought, hands down. My only complaint is that ALL books seem to have DRM and you can’t read them on the tablet. I really hate DRM. It encourages more piracy than it prevents. One of the things you can do with it too is screenshare it to your computer. So you can see actual colors and stuff. You can markup pdfs and everything. @@nicekitI read books on iPad and iPhone for years until I found myself in a situation where I was having major eye strain related migraines (during a pandemic while in grad school), that made it impossible to look at regular computer monitors or my iPad. I just bought a kindle for my daughter who wanted to read specific books but isn’t allowed to have her phone out for most of the day at school, but is allowed to use a kindle.
@@Wingnut353 That's not the real cost of the Remarkable either. For 300.00 you can't actually use it since that doesn't include the pen. Adding that brings to cost to roughly 400.00, depending upon which one you choose (a little more or a little less). Now, you are within striking distance of a much more capable iPad. Having owned both, I will tell you that the writing experience on a remarkable is much different. I would still not recommend it because of the product support, which is abysmal. I described that in other posts here, so I will not in this one. We had two remarkable 2, but now have none. I also purchased a Kindle Scribe about a year or so ago, which isn't as good of an e-tablet, but very close and much better at e-reading and overall a much better value. I do prefer writing on the Scribe to an iPad, but if I was concerned about costs, I would opt for the iPad since it is more versatile in the long run.
Remarkable ads have been following me around the web lately and I've been super intrigued about how it actually works. But this is more compelling than the ads, now I think I actually want this... except I don't think it can replace my iPad for work purposes because I am a web developer and I need to pull up web pages in meetings all the time.
I had my Remarkable 2 for school and loved it. 3-4 labs a semester. It was so much easier to carry BINDERS of work on one device. Yes I have an iPad but the Remarkable has a much longer battery life. It’s great if you want want the distractions that come with iPad apps.
As someone who is also left-handed, this could be great for left-handed people. Left-handed people hate spiral notebooks and most write at a slant. Don't even get me started about white boards.
Bought mine 2,5 years ago knowing a lot of notes would be made during 3 years at university. Man, it’s as good and the FW has been updated instantly. To write notes on top of pdfs made learning Technical subjects efficient. Everything is digital, you will find every file in the app on your Mac, PC, phone and iPad if you wish and remember to sync the reMarakable 2 over wifi. Environment friendly as I’ve spared the earth of a pile of unnessesary files there is no way I would have found back to my notes. You just type in a word or two on the RM2, and you’ll find the file in no time. Best tech investment I’ve done, even better than my latest MacBook
As a minimalist, remote worker, digital nomad, I cant see this replacing my ipad, and cant see myself carrying around both devices...Ipad can do all this just get paperlike screen saver, turn on focus mode and eliminate distractons. But for someone wanting a simplified writing device without an ipad I guess it could work.
I've tried all the Tablets for a paper replacement and the Remarkable 2 has been the only one worth keeping. I still enjoy my ipad for nightly reading and surfing, but the remarkable is what I use all day at work and just throughout personal life. It is the only tablet that actually feels like real paper. The fact that it has no other apps over than writing is a feature, not a bug. It keeps you from getting distracted and focus just on writing and storing thoughts. There are no notifications, beeps, or sounds. Pure focus. The organization is simple but effective and the battery needs charging about 2.5 times a month for me with HEAVY use (many hours per day). I've had it for ~8 months and it has become a core part of my life and routine.
Hi, could you please let me know if it has the feature to write in colors, I’m looking for something very simple to draw ✍️ some sketches ideas to be used in real resin art. I appreciate it
been watching Justine for decades. NEVER knew she's left handed. Because me too!!! Must've missed it in one Ask iJ epi 😆 The reMarkable notebook is so slick btw, loveee
I have used my reMarkable 2 for the past two years and I must say that the writing experience itself is incredible. At first I used it in school and it was fine for copying things from the blackboard and such but now I use it for my notes at the university and I really miss certain features (like making drawn shapes perfect etc.). On top of that the synchronization and export process is horrible regarding quality and speed. We are allowed to use handwritten (digitally or manual) cheatsheets which simply works for my colleagues who use iPads and for me its a whole process as I have to edit the exported files again in order to be able to print them out nicely. On top of that there are occasional bugs and huge lags which destroy my workflow on a weekly basis. So if you just work on the reMarkable itself it is pretty great but once you want to actually use your handwritten files somewhere else I would recommend an iPad or Samsung tablet instead.
I have had one for 5 months already, and pretty sure that Remarkable company is like Apple in the phone world but in Paper-like tablets. I have also a Kindle for reading books, but on Remarkable it's even easier to read (I think it's because there is no backlight, which is cool). Love this device and am happy that found out about it. Synch with Mac and iPhone apps is seamless.
So pleased you reviewed this. I’ve always loved a notebook and pen but went totally paperless throughout covid WFH. I use my MacBook for working and ipad/pencil with a paper like screen and use notability app for note taking. I’m currently suffering eye fatigue and it was like this review was written for me. However im worried i would be buying another piece of tech that i dont need, but then can you really have too much tech lol. Seriously will consider this now, BUT it is very expensive!
This device has really made me so much more productive. Many ask why not just buy an iPad? This is a distraction free device and it feels and writes like pen and paper. A stylus on glass just isn't the same experience and constant pop up notifications will only interrupt your thought process. Spend a week with it and I promise you you'll see it's value. Organizing your notes is so easy. The ability to import PDFs and write on or highlight text and then export with ease is extremely handy and useful. I would personally recommend just buying the device alone and buying a compatible pen.
what i like about justine she was really excited, happy and being grateful when reviewing products.. some youtubers would rant over a slightly tilt sticker
This was one of the best gadgets i have ever bought. Having ADHD, a ton of distractions from mail, DM's etc, is not a good thing. I don't like paper notebooks as they get all curled up in my bag. This thing is nice 🙂
I have one of these and I absolutely love it; I highly recommend it. However if you lose your stylus, there are some decent aftermarket ones available. Statdler has a stylus that looks like a pencil that works really well.
Wow! loved your review! I've been a viewer for several years, since 2016 at least! As a university student who is just starting classes again, this feels like a must have to save for prior to starting my more complex univeristy classes. I'm a recording arts and music engineering major and I feel like adopting something like this into my workflow could be super valuable for projects and classes as I move forward in my degree program! Thank you for the review! I'm going to hold onto this!
It brings us back to real, with tech, this is the future, we are in the process now after years of tech pushing us into tech, now we can see where we as a humanity should be, not taken away with tech but meeting tech in the middle, this tech shows us that and it’s nice.
I was thinking of getting of something like this instead of an iPad where you have so many distractions from all those pesky apps and notifications. At least with this I can concentrate on one task. Thank you for this review!
We have two of these in my house. One just quit charging about 8 months ago. Trying to get Remarkable to support it has been a nightmare. They were horrible to work with and eventually we just gave up and threw it away, vowing to never buy from them again. I had already purchased the Kindle Scribe, which is not quite as featured as the Remarkable, but works just fine and has the advantage of being a very capable e-reader on top of a digital notebook (The remarkable sucks as an e-reader and really isn't one). I think the features will come to the Kindle scribe with software updates. Anyway, that is what my wife uses now.
I want 4 screen pages on it, like a folder! For reading cartoons and magazines: front is front cover of current active magazine. Then open it and see 2 pages at once. Flip to next 2 pages with a finger swipe: 👉📖 Backside on the back is whatever the magazine publisher wants to add there. I need this like for years now. 😤
i actually pre ordered one when they first came out and i think it was less expensive then than it is now which just feels insane. Amazing product i love going to class and taking notes on it. hate taking notes on a computer and this is just that perfect device. Just so niche of a product still
Definitely a wonderful device. I have not used this device but I have tried few others… honestly after a while (long lecture session) your palm starts to pain a lot… never can any device completely replace a notebook.
You're all probably gonna think I'm crazy but I bought a Tab s8 a while back and I put a specific paperfeel screen protector on it. I've been using it to take notes for quite some time now and I got used to it and now I really like it. I can turn on either focus mode or do not disturb mode but to be honest I don't always need to be in distraction free mode. The note app I use almost replicates the Remarkable experience perfectly with nearly every feature. But I do like that I can add color or color highlights to my notes on my tab s8. But to be fair I gave the Remarkable a shot. To be honest I just didn't feel like I was using it any differently than my Tab s8. It just seemed like I was carrying another device around but doing the same thing and spending another $350. So I ended up sending it back. I see the appeal for some but it just not needed for my use case.
I thought this was really neat. A bit expensive. Been looking at this for my dad (I noticed he kept looking it up) I saw they had a Black Friday sale (not sure what the price was) but I missed it a few days late. I almost hope you hated it so you can send it my way lol. Thanks for the review Justine.
return policy tells if that item is solid or not. reMarkable page says 100 days to decide. 100 days are more than any other manufacturer to get money back. I believe very few units may be shipping back.
Is this a new model? I've had mine for a while and love it, but I'm wondering since the title and video description talk about a "new reMarkable 2". Did they release a new version? The reMarkable 2 came out in May 2022, so it wouldn't be surprising given how fast tech moves these days.
Hated my RM2 and sold it. I much prefer my Ipad Pro - Remarkable you have to another monthly subscription, etc. I found I loved making notes on my Ipad - I love the color options for pens, highlighting, etc. The paperlike screen protector on my Ipad gives the same feeling as my RM2.
I have seen a lot of reviews of the Remarkable. This is the only one where it is used like a tablet instead of like a piece of paper. Never even a rested wrist but always floating hand
I loved my Remarkable, bought it in the kickstarter campaign, but I switched to an iPad due to the poor pricing strategy : the tablet is expensive, the stylus isn't included in the lowest price advertised and on top of that there is a subscription for a 15gb cloud backup. I hope they can figure out a better way and maybe release Remarkable 3 without those things.
Wish I had this in school. Won’t lie, cycling through spirals and notepads wasn’t fun heh. Also debating getting a new-ish iPad to write on to do I have a little less tech using my iOS devices🤔
This may be the review to put me over the edge. I've been teetering on wanting one of these in the worst kind of way, but it makes me feel like I'm a tech glutton lolol - but the use case is absolutely perfect. The only thing I didn't hear you mention was the battery life but I have a feeling it lasts plenty long enough to not be an issue. Thanks for sharing!
I want to have one for years. I worked at a financial institution. We have notebooks, printouts, files… But, it’s expensive. I wasn’t sure if it worths to try…
Justine, may you and everyone at the Ezairk household have a MerryXmas🎅🏻 and may you and & your family have the best of the holiday season🎁. Another fanstanic epen0s from,🍎!
That looks like a USB-C to USB-A cable. I guess reMarkable 2 doesn't support PD charging then. I wish it was USB-C to USB-C. The era of USB-A ended literaly years ago. I understand that there are some people still using USB-A, but adapters can be used if necessary.

i actually pre ordered one when they first came out and i think it was less expensive then than it is now which just feels insane. Amazing product i love going to class and taking notes on it. hate taking notes on a computer and this is just that perfect device. Just so niche of a product still
It's so weird seeing someone write/draw with their left hand. We still love you.
I got the notebook where u whipe it with a cloth called rocketbook its deff neat as heck🔥🔥
We are definitely living in the future
Try Freewrite and The Light Phone if you’re interested…
I would believe that paper drawing each other 😃🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😃😃😃😃
I want cakes from iJustine, not ads😢
I wish this thing wasn’t so expensive. Just can’t justify the price for such limited functionality compared to my iPad Pro.
Digital Paper was the only one person of all time became good drawings.
Justine was the amazing facts by press down the draw 🤣🤣😂😂
I thought this was really neat. A bit expensive. Been looking at this for my dad (I noticed he kept looking it up) I saw they had a Black Friday sale (not sure what the price was) but I missed it a few days late. I almost hope you hated it so you can send it my way lol. Thanks for the review Justine.
return policy tells if that item is solid or not. reMarkable page says 100 days to decide. 100 days are more than any other manufacturer to get money back. I believe very few units may be shipping back.
This reMarkablepaper is so awesome. But really sad it doesnt ship to Malaysia :(
Everything is marketing these days and these guys are not content creators but sales person.
I am here for Justine!
Not having a backlight killed it for me
@ijustine okay love the notebook think I need one for school buuuut I have to know where you got the beautiful pink knife/ box opener?.🧐🧐👀
This doesn’t just include a paid promotion, it is entirely a promotion.
Justine has a beautiful handwriting
"The harder you press down the thicker the line" 3:57 | That's called pressure sensitivity. Most drawing apps use it these days.
Omg! I LOVE that device! So cool!
Is this a new model? I've had mine for a while and love it, but I'm wondering since the title and video description talk about a "new reMarkable 2". Did they release a new version? The reMarkable 2 came out in May 2022, so it wouldn't be surprising given how fast tech moves these days.
This women get excited at anything
Hated my RM2 and sold it. I much prefer my Ipad Pro - Remarkable you have to another monthly subscription, etc. I found I loved making notes on my Ipad - I love the color options for pens, highlighting, etc. The paperlike screen protector on my Ipad gives the same feeling as my RM2.
I LOVE YOUR HAIR IN THIS VIDEO
Great video Justine. Not as long as last years Christopher Judge speech but still longer than this year's Call of Duty campaign.
I have seen a lot of reviews of the Remarkable. This is the only one where it is used like a tablet instead of like a piece of paper. Never even a rested wrist but always floating hand
Dude. You are always excited 😂
She is completely bought and paid for 😂
For the first time I decided to rewatch the video again. Interesting thing.
I have seen this advertised everywhere. Is it really this good? Does it have any competitor worth looking at?
I loved my Remarkable, bought it in the kickstarter campaign, but I switched to an iPad due to the poor pricing strategy : the tablet is expensive, the stylus isn't included in the lowest price advertised and on top of that there is a subscription for a 15gb cloud backup. I hope they can figure out a better way and maybe release Remarkable 3 without those things.
Wish I had this in school. Won’t lie, cycling through spirals and notepads wasn’t fun heh.
Also debating getting a new-ish iPad to write on to do I have a little less tech using my iOS devices🤔
expensive + slow + old tech !!
ipad + Apple pencil win
unrelated but where is the tiger sweater with orange trim from??? i love it!!
E-ink reader in general is my dream device. I just can't afford it :)
i would love to have one of these for taking notes and drawing!
That thing is slick I might have to invest in one.
I want to have one for years. I worked at a financial institution. We have notebooks, printouts, files… But, it’s expensive. I wasn’t sure if it worths to try…
They have a 100 day trial. If you don't like it, return it.
I have it and love it!
I appreciate this. My boss wants to get something like this for the team so I’ll just send him this lol as an option.
DIGITAL PAPER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
this product was released in 2020, anyone holding out for the remarkable 3? So tempted to buy the 2 but I feel the 3 is due to come out soon
You know what else feels like paper? Paper. Just buy a notebook made from recycled paper and a pencil. No generated e-waste.
Looks like it costs $750, at least here in Thailand, once you add the folio keyboard and pen.
i just bought one myself 😄😃
Only problem it's not cheap like android phones. Can't afford by everyone. But everyone need this kinda tech from childhood to old age daily life.
new school series coming… iJustine goes back to college with only tech! 😜
Awesome product and great video
