You have impressed me to the point I now own a Lexus 2006 LS 430 with 161,649 miles and the wife was not in favor of me buying it but after I detailed it out and she has riden in it she is impressed with the Lexus LS 430. True that the cost to restore have exceeds the value of the car. However, everytime i watched this it reminds me what my late dad who grew up in WW2 torn country with not much thing left after the bombings told me: “Son, i grew up in a time when things are broken, we try to fix it, not iust throw it away without trying”. Thank you for bringing the memory of him putting in the labor to restore this. ..And pls continue the series for this LS after winter.

You are a HERO! I looked into doing this on my pristine 2006 SC430 but chickened out.
Instead, I burned 6 custom CDs with a bunch of my favorite tunes. And I bought this little $15 gizmo from Amazon that interfaces with my iPhone via Bluetooth and allows my iTunes collection to play via the FM radio. And I bought another little gizmo for $10 that allows my iPod to interface via the cassette deck & bluetooth. Hey- it works fine and I didn't have to tear the nice Japan-assembled workmanship apart. For the times I use it- touring the Sonoma-Napa wine country and coast roads- it works just fine.

I have a 2004 LS 430, and I have a setup similar to yours. The brand I use is called VAIS Technology. My unit is about half of the size of your unit, from looking at this video. I used high quality 3M double sided tape and tape the unit below the glove box. You cannot see it, unless you stick your head in & look up. 2004 LS 430 only has one glove box, and I believe it is bigger than LS 430 from year 2001-2003. In 2004, when the LS 430 was sold at the dealership, Lexus dealership used VAIS Technology as an aftermarket option if you want to install XM Satellite Radio. Years later, when the iPhone came out, VAIS Technology came up with this unit uses Bluetooth. I have my unit installed (by myself) for over a decade now and it is still working flawlessly. I can listen to music from my iPhone or iPad through my Mark Levinson speakers. Same thing for making phone call or answering phone.
From this video, your unit seems to be much bigger than my unit.
I still get the Lexus logo on the screen when start up the engine.
I like your shift knob. Where did you buy that? Thank you.
Love your channel. You always share great information.

Watching you pour your Toyota knowledge into one of their cars, worthy of all the work like an LS430, is inspiring. I’ve loved the Lexus LX since it came out. I could never afford one, but still remember the first (and only) time I rode in one. In the mid-90s, Our real estate agent had one and she drove my wife and I around looking at house. I was so impressed that in 2001 we purchased our first Lexus, a RX300. We’re now on our 6th Lexus and I’m still impressed with their products…they keep getting better. Your restoration project has been a great as it’s from the mechanic’s perspective. Continue with LX and looking forward to your next project!

It’s great to see a Master Mechanic at work to the highest level. As a dedicated Toyota Tacoma owner I appreciate all of your Toyota/Lexus content. Keep up the good work AMD. Thanks!

There is one capability that for me any radio upgrade must have: HD FM subchannel reception ability! It is essentially the only way to receive classical music on a radio.

I enjoyed watching this video more than all the rest because I could see the endless joys of your inner car kid come out on the headlights and the relatable frustration of bringing new tech to grandpa lol I own a 11-year-old Lincoln town car with nearing 600,000 miles now at 592,000 I can share the joy frustration and challenge of older cars and certain ones just put a smile on your face. So definitely enjoyed watching this thank you for sharing..

My father was a huge Lexus fan until he unexpectedly passed away in 2003. He had the first SC400 they released here in the USA and then purchased an SC300 for my mom. When I got a little older he switched to the ES and had a 1998 ES300 and then a 2002 ES300. Our last Lexus was a 2004 GX470. Seeing all of your videos makes we want to get another.

I learned the best time to adjust headlights is in the daytime in the shade. Sounds whacked but here is why. It is hard to distinguish the beam from the flood. The daylight takes care of the flood leaving only the beam. Once you see only the beam it is easy. If the beam is fuzzy use your phones camera to look at the beam standing back by the car. The phone also takes out flood too.

Amazing series. Love the LS430. New headlights really brings this one back to life. Looks awesome.
I did a similar thing to My 2002 ES 300. I installed a touchscreen Alpine unit and hardwired back up camera. It replaced the- six CD changer and cassette player. I said the same thing I brought it to the 21st-century. I play all my music with CarPlay through my iPhone, as well as Google Maps.

It is so great to see the love this man has for this special vehicle, Mine is a 2003 LS430 with 68K miles, millennium silver with gray leather . I have owned "5 " LS430's and all the newer ones but non compared to the 01'to 06' units, I own a newer Range rover (second vehicle) which I am afraid to drive due to the mechanics of it, so expensive to repair rover's but my bank vault LS430 which I drive the majority of the time NEVER worries me!

I own an '05 LS430 (stipulated that it is an insanely great car!) but I have to say, the look and proportions of the pre-facelift one are growing on me. I used to think the old ones were ugly but they're actually really cool looking.

I’m amazed you got it all apart and back togetherness again. I’ve had some experience on 98’Lincoln Mark VIII and invariably certain clips would break because plastic gets old and brittle. Thank you for sharing your story of restoring a 600,000 mile Lexus 430.

Love these videos! I have a 2013 Explorer with 161,000 miles that I bought from a friend at 148,000 miles. It’s a labor of love and I enjoy watching the “DIY”. It gives me the confidence to work on my vehicle.

Yes please more projects! I feel like this series transformed your channel into a multifaceted haven of knowledge. This opinion comes from watching you do uncomfortable things like aftermarket audio upgrades or detailing the interior.
I love your LS430 as much as I love my own LS430!!!

I love it when people resurrect old cars back to life, but by far, this was the best one of all. May the lord keep you, your family, and the 430 safe and happy. Will be more eagerly waiting for the next project than when I was waiting for the interior restoration episode of the 430.

Love the restoration series. Plus though it is expensive, you are still cheaper than a newer car. Plus for you being a mechanic you can fix what goes wrong... though it is an ls430
