@@aaliyah.ally05 same, I've been going thru quite a long slump and haven't been reading as much as I used to, but I'm slowly easing back into my reading addiction 😅
Hey. Just wanted to say you've saved my 2021. I just got back into reading this year again, I used to read in middle school and high school but I didn't get time in college to read but I recently started since I have time now besides attending online college and OMG. I was reminded of how much I enjoy the world of books. I've read like 20+ books in the past 2 months and all of them are your recommendations. So thank you ❤️ I love your recommendations and your tastes are pretty amazing and similar to mine and you're one of my favorites in TH-cam and I've been watching your videos nonstop. They're very entertaining.. 😂😘
Idk if this is for you but there are still some books left unread on your shelf but go on buy new ones Btw my book shelf is overloading with unread books but idk
I wholeheartedly recommend One Last Stop by the same author as Red, White and Royal Blue 😊 Romance, angst, bit of sci-fi, found family, young adult self discovery. It’s stupid how good it is. The author’s style has really developed, and it’s only her second book 🤩
I love your neurosciency tiers so much!! It makes me really happy to see that you are also a book lover and natural science student (I am doing Biochemistry), since many booktubers I am watching are doing social sciences.
Fun Fact: Frank Herbert actually took the time to plan Arrakis's ecosystem down to what bug eats what. he spent years developing it. It's actually extremely impressive
Me, first seeing “red, white and royal blue” in a bookstore: wtf srsly, romance about a prince and a president son, I’m too grown up for this Me, seeing the same book in Leonie’s video: OKAY LET’S THROW AWAY SOME MONEY☺️
I feel like your channel is the perfect example on how you don't need to read 20 books a month to create good content, and the way you grew lately is proof. Congrats on 100k!!💘
I agree, I have read it a number of times, the ending is beautiful. The 1966 film version directed by Francois Truffaut with Julie Christie and Oskar Werner is also worth checking out. The 2018 version with Michael B Jordan is very poor though.
I haven’t even watched the full video but I’m already like “couldn’t have said it better myself, I agree completely” (I’ve watched the vlogs so I think that holds some merit)
oh gosh i screenshoted every book you’ve mentioned and clearly right now can’t decide which one to read first. I am not that active reader but just watching your videos brings me pure psilocybin :)
Ahhhhhh the Seven husbands of Evelyn Hugo read it last year and has never been off my mind and always talking about it and rambling about it to anyone And you comparing Evelyn Hugo's narrative style to one of my favorite show The Queen's Gambit ✨ you somehow made me understand why I love both of the story so much Love your contents 🤍
4:36 if you want to read really great dystopia - you need to read "We" by Yevgeny Zamyatin. It's the first and best book in this genre, because most of the "descendants" looks like copy of it (especially 1984, which is almost a complete copy, if we talk about the backbone of the work)
This entire video was delightful but the amount of joy I felt when you listed Red, White, and Royal Blue, Howl’s Moving Castle, The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo AND The Night Circus all in a row is unmatched. Four of my all time favorites!!
I've been on the fence about reading The Night Circus for the last several months but after hearing your description of how the book made you feel I think I'll finally read it
When you said Fahrenheit 451 for "Not It", I literally gasped. It's a personal favorite of mine, but I'll try out "Brave New World" and "1984" and maybe they'll knock "Fahrenheit 451" down a peg-we'll see!
1984 was one of the worst books I’ve ever read, the character is extremely misogynistic and the only female character is entirely unbelievable. Instead of 1984 I would recommend Handmaid’s Tale! I read them back to back and Handmaid’s Tale takes the good ideas from 1984 and does them so much more justice and doesn’t come out as misogynistic, even if the society within the book is that.
@@Sarana. I definitely agree tat it was incredibly misogynistic and very evidently written by a man. My main reason why I liked it is the realistic ending and a good depiction the reality of what living in the USSR was like...connecting the book to my family's stories of growing up there. Plus its a book great to analyze which is why it got me out od my reading slump .The handmaid's tale is on my TBR!!!
I think my favourite books of the year so far are If we were villains (dark academia drama perfectness) and the strange the dreamer duology which was soooo wholesome and well written!
My favourite book so far this year was easily The rearranged life of Oona Lockheart! I haven't seen a lot of people hype this book up, but I read it on a whim and that was the best decision ever😊
My best book was The Night Circus too. It was so damn good. Like, I don’t even know why it was so good but it was the kind that made me forget that I was just a reader.
I bought it and it's been sitting on my shelf for weeks now. I'm kinda scared it won't live up the hype and that I'll be disappointed. Loved Evelyn Hugo.
One of my best readings of this year was Six of Crows (it's been over 6 months since I read it and I still get my Kanej breakdowns LOL). Also, I watched Howl's Moving Castle (my first anime) and I am completely in love and very much looking forward to read the books hahahaha
Wow The Night Circus.. it's been years since i last heard of it getting mentioned. i know i have it in ebook form but never got a chance to read it. This is the sign to add it in my tbr for this year 🤣 especially since i just got back to reading also 😅
just added howl's moving castle & the seven husbands of evelyn hugo on my to-read list! :) can't believe i haven't read these yet, especially since hmc is my favorite ghibli film. i agree on addie larue, it was good but meh. and the night circus is my #1 fav book of all time, i'm so glad you're loving it 🤍

I always rely so much on your book-recommendations, it’s insane haha. My 2021 book highlight was the house in the cerulean sea! It was the coziest book i have ever read and such a comfort read!
My favourite book of this year was 'God of small things' , which was also devastating, but so, so beautiful. And if you haven't you should read 'The girl who drunk the moon', which is on Storytel and is a middle-grade gem, similiar in a way to the Howls Moving Castle

I read Men Explain Things To Me this year too for Women's month and it was ok but there are other books that delve deeper into the same topics Rebecca Solnit discussed in her essay collection. I recommend Cinderella Liberator by Rebecca Solnit, it's a feminist retelling of Cinderella and I think it's her best work. :)

Damn you are so right when you compared queen's gambit to Evelyn Hugo bc on the surface they aren't really similar at all but the VIBES!! V similar and immaculate, I'm too scared to read another Taylor Jenkins book bc I fear it will never live up to Evelyn Hugo
Sorry to add to the large amount of book recommendations you already receive, but, regarding dystopian novels, have you ever read We by Yevgeny Zamyatin or Darkness at Noon by Arthur Koestler? We was written in the early 1920s and influenced a lot of dystopian novel to follow. Darkness at Noon I suppose is not technically a dystopian, as it is just set in the Soviet Union during the 1930s (if I’m remembering correctly), but it is so 1984-ish that it feels like it is within that genre. Anyway, great job with the videos. They are always delightful
I totally agree with the "they become deeper in my mind" comment on Shadow and Bone. I've been just thinking about them for so long that when I read them, they seemed shallow. I'm so glad that I saw your video and I'm not the only one who feels that way!!
"This is kind of just like the author's petty grievances" Oh My God I remember reading the coda of Fahrenheit because I had to for the class I was reading it in and it was probably the most amusingly self obsessed and petty thing I've ever read, it's just like 5 pages of Bradbury ranting in a way that completely undermines any good points he could have made with it

Good recommendation of Brave New World!! I also found a dystopian gem from a debut author. All That’s Left: The War Within the Wall. Seriously like a roller coaster and the main character was me in my junior year lol.
I'm reading The Night Circus right now (I'm about 30% into the book) and I'm not convinced I will like it. But I'll trust your taste and keep giving a chance to it
