I have been a fan of Bannon ever since I bought Smoke and Mirrors. My favorite is Vicious Rumors. I have performed it countless times to laymen and magicians alike . It's killer stuff. The magic happens in the spectators hand and the reactions are priceless. Never have I been caught on the assisted switch or the jinx switch.
Great choice imo! My favorites are play it straight triumph, beyond fabulous, counterpunch, Cross purposes, clock of doom but also his out of sight out of mind routine from mentalissimo. The guy has too much good stuff lol
@@roychalko4487 that one is also in smoke and mirrors right? I have all bannon books except for imposibilia (too expensive to get now) and mentalissimo(wasn't available in the netherlands, but when it's republished I want it) :D
I bought the Tattoo You download right after watching this based on your recommendation and love it!!! Was performing it for my wife within 10 minutes of watching the download--- such an amazing trick !!!
Great video. So much stuff I forgot about. Love play it straight triumph it’s a killer. I’ve come up with 3 versions of it. 1) you produce wrong suit and then suit changes 2) the suits all blue backed in a red deck 3) a in the hand version. Will record a wee video for you showing you them and get sent to you. You’ll enjoy them.
I'm a big fan of John Bannon, this was an excellent 5x5 Craig. You may have tried it already, but if you perform Timely Departure with the cards in A-K order, CHSD, the selections will all be the same value. It may seem pointless to magicians, as when you spread the groups of cards at the end they're in order. However, I have done this for several non-magaician mates, and no one has pointed it out (yet!). I think they're task-fixated on spotting their card that the order of the cards flies right past them! It's an awesome FASDIU trick though!
B’rainiac is an EDC for me and just brilliant. If I have a little more time, Royal Scam hits them with such an unexpected sucker punch that jaws hit the floor. And both of them end completely examinable.
Great 5x5 Craig - I particularly enjoyed the ‘Mutilated’ performance, even though it might not have been what you had planned! My favourite JB borrowed/shuffled deck trick is Cross Purposes from Move Zero 3 - very fooling. Also love Bannihilation - not impromptu, but appears so to the spectator. Very clever thinking and a great effect.
I actually don't own it! I have no idea why seeing as how Cameron is my favourite magician haha. Thanks for your thoughts, I always watch The Review Show for your thoughts on anything!
"Shriek of the Mutilated" reminded me of a likewise *excellent* TnR cigarette paper effect by Steve Dusheck called "Pushover," which is in his Close-Up Magic book. It doesn't use flash paper, and uses a push-pin instead of a longer pin.
Asi Wind has a trick, Triumph and Triumph Again, where he does a sort of double version of Bannon's Play It Straight Triumph. (Either two cards picked and two sequences are missing the correct card or the card is miscalled on the first spread--the number is right but the suit is wrong--but after a second spread you identify the correct missing card from the spread.) I have to say that I was not aware of the origin of Wind's trick until I saw this video. Looking back at the Vanishing Inc description, Bannon is very clearly credited, but Asi Wind did not do any crediting in the video teaching portion. Asi Wind's double take definitely adds to the impossibility of the effect, but the set up is more of a bear (would be near impossible to do on the fly) when compared to the Bannon original. I can see Bannon's version killing following a regular triumph effect. Wind's routine has that real 'wow' factor and holds up on its own, but I think that doing the original triumph and following with Asi Wind's version might be just too much for an audience....
With play it straight triumph, I usually dont put the cards in order... just for me, I think doing two things is a bit too impossible, like from a shuffled deck, you turned the cards over and also put them in order 😂 that's just a bit much for my sort of character, and I like having a moment where we take the cards out and then try to put them in order
I never though any triumph routine could beat Bannons "play it straight triumph" but Harapan Ong beats it i think his goes further.. But it is based on Bannons by the look of it.
Yes!! Bannon is the best!
He really is.
Very nice 5x5.
I love John bannon's sizzle. It's a great trick with so many magical and visual moments
I forgot about that one. You are correct. It’s great.
Happy to see five Bannon 5 x 5's :D
🙏👍🤣
Thank you. Learning a lot.
You are more than welcome.
As usual brilliant 5 x 5. Love John Bannon. Hope you interview him
Working on it.

In my enthusiasm I forgot "Hop Two It." Check that one out. The guy is genius.

Yes. I believe Smoke and Mirrors is out of print, I may be mistaken. If you can find a copy it would be well worth your time.
@@roychalko4487 I do have smoke. Also dear Mr fantasy, high calibre and destination zero 🥰
The item I'm most proud of in my collection is my signed copy of High Calibre. John Bannon is one of the greatest!
That is all kinds of awesome.
@@magic-tv I took a copy to Blackpool the other year just to get it signed :)
Awesome Craig 👍👍👍👍💗

Love it....Forgot about the triumph
It’s great isn’t it.

In my opinion Collusion is better trick and you can also do it impromptu
