Let's be honest there are thousands of card tricks. Some of them are great and some of them are not so good. However they all have something in common. You have to win the audience over at the start of the routine. Some audiences think they have seen every card trick ever invented even though they haven't. Which is why it's important to win the audience over right at the start of the routine. You want to showcase something that is quick and visual and makes them want to see more.
Inn this video Craig Petty highlights three card routines that you might not have seen before. These routines are designed to grab the audiences attention right from the very start. Craig performs the routine and then explains why it is so good and more importantly where you can learn it from.

I love modern times. I like to pull a red box out of my pocket after the blue "box" vanishes. Inevitably, someone will say "that box isn't blue." I say "my bad, I'm color blind." Then hand them the box. As I hand them the box, I change the deck from blue to red, then say "I'm not color blind, you must be." It gets a really good reaction and they always laugh.
3D Advertising is also fantastic! I love it. You can do also do all of the tricks with 3D Advertising that you could do with David Stones Tool
Great video and terrific advice. I never approach a couple with a card trick for this reason - I tend to introduce the deck as a transformation from a coin.
Only part way through but Modern Times is so visual.

I don’t have modern times, but I use a version of it or something similar that Lloyd Barnes had in his cohorts gaff pack. It’s fantastic
Wow Freedom Pack, there's a name I haven't heard of in a while. I think mine's gathering stuff somewhere. I think I remember having trouble with the reveal, might have to dig it out and try your method.
Kinda wished 3d advertising was laminated or typed. Something to make it stronger. I always use this...its super visual.
On the first one you didn't mention how you move into something else when you end up with gimmicked cards on top and bottom of the deck, how do you move from that into something else.
I have 3D Advertising, but I haven't done it in a long time.

Hey Craig another great video I wanted to ask a question many flipper coins I've bought recently have not worked properly or have not been in a good quality I've I've been meaning to upgrade and try to buy more quality flipper coin and I've come across schoolcraft coins and the next generation of flipper coin what are your opinion on these two flippers or who are your favorite manufacturers for gaff coins and do you know if these are worth the price

Yeah that has happened to me before, all I did was have someone pick a card and they assumed I was going to do ambitious card.... they were actually correct, so I quickly switched to a different trick after they said that lmao
I like opening with 3d advertising then go into John Guastaferro virus. For the deck support joke can even get it off the pamphlet
I own Modern Times, never used it. Mine is so old that the gimmick is rather tired and is a slow-motion change LOL

3D advertising doesn't look good to me. You show a catalogue with three panels and then turn it over to show four panels on the other side. To me it looks like the blue deck is just in a pocket and you shake it out. What am I missing?
Have you performed this for laymen? I've heard many magicians say that they don't like 3D Advertising, and not one of them have performed it for real people. Even if a spectator thought that was the method (it's not) that theory gets demolished when you hand everything out after the production. This is one of those tricks that you really have to try in the real world to see how much of an impact it has.
