- Drivers have been handed more than £322 million in fines for non-payment of London’s ultra low emission zone (ULEZ) fees since the scheme expanded, new figures show.
Nearly 1.8 million penalty charge notices (PCNs) were issued between August 29 last year and the end of June, according to PA news agency analysis of Transport for London (TfL) statistics.
The total value of these at the point of issue was £322.8 million as the transport body’s PCNs are £180 each, reduced to £90 if paid within 14 days.
TfL’s figures suggest it also received approximately £176 million from drivers who did pay ULEZ fees over the same period.
The transport body said all income generated from the scheme is “reinvested back into public transport”.
Talk’s Julia Hartley-Brewer hits out at London Mayor Sadiq Khan for saying ULEZ “is saving lives”, without evidential proof.

ULEZ fines are really just another way of taxing the motorists, absolutely nothing to do with cleaner air.rather than say its an extra tax on motorists where call it fines.
when you have thousands of young men coming over on boats whats the first thing they want apart from our houses and hotels ? cars , as they could never afford one in their own countries , they will drive any pos with no license no insurance ,because they dont know another way , so more cars on the roads , this is a massive issue that sadique khan doesnt have an issue with , he should leave legal motorists alone and go after the illegal drivers FIRST as they are the real winners , the legal driver is screwed to the max to pay for it , this should be khans order of play not legal motorists all the damn time

Well, the mayor has to prop up losses of TFL with fines. Sadly, TFL, have one of the most generous Public sector pension schemes in the UK, hence the losses. The sooner the public wake up and smell the roses on how much we are all being ripped off the better.

I used to be a very calm laid back chilled person, non violent or aggressive. But Safiq Khan, keit Starmer, the rest of the labour government, the judicial system and Mark Rowley have made a strong case for me to buy some lengths of chicken wire but i don't have a garden suitable for chickens or dead ones

How many road journeys are their per year in the ULEZ zone? Obviously the 1.8 million fines and 12 million voluntary ULEZ paid journeys represent a tiny proportion of the total. This shows that for the most part, non-ULEZ vehicles are staying out of London, granting cleaner air for all who breathe there.
Lol and how does that clean air come against the City airport expansion, the Silvertown tunnel that every environmental group khan used for ULEZ advised will impact air quality for the poorest in London the most and the massive expansion to the Edmonton incinerator? What do you think is happening to air quality with 1000’s of new apartments?
As an aside the report literally said they couldn’t link any air quality changes to ULEZ and on the ground outskirts reports showed………..wait for it……….no improvements
@@stevenham1937 You're making a strong argument for reducing unnecessary pollution as far as possible given the new pressures on air quality. ULEZ goes some way to achieve that.
