What a splendid showcase for The City Varieties, how very interesting and most professionally staged, Well done. Marvellous to see the Theatre so splendid in its 'new' authentic colour scheme. So pleased Leonard Sachs' desk is still there, shall have to make the pilgrimage there again, not been for many years. Thank you for sharing this with us all.
Thanks for the great feedback! We were lucky to have such a beautiful setting for our film and are very grateful to the theatre and performers for allowing us the time to film there.
Not "strait form uni" actually but very much in uni. This was our first year project for our documentary module. So no, no stage experience as it was a film production degree. Not exactly surprising it isn't bafta quality, but for all the production issues we had, I'm happy with how it turned out. Feel free to make your own if it didn't live up to your expectations.
I Love Watching BBC The Good Old Days. I've Found Some Old Episodes from the 70s and 80s here on TH-cam and I Enjoy THem Verry Much...
Your excellent film has made me want to visit this theatre even more now - you have captured the atmosphere well.

I've been to city varieties with my family
Looking at it on google earth, I still can’t work out where the stage is. The theatre is surrounded by other buildings. 🤔🤔
Oh dear. Made by youngsters strait form Uni. No actual stage experience, and it shows. (

Ignore our (confused) friend above. I really enjoyed your informative film and my opinion is far more important.
