I slept rough in the North East for a year when I was 16 after being thrown out of the house by my new step mam.Sleeping rough through a north east winter is rough and I ended up in hospital with pneumonia and a collapsed lung.A relative took me into her already crowded home and gave me the love I'd never had at home.Being homeless makes you invisible to the authorities other than the police who are only too happy to harass you.
You poor thing- so glad your relatives took you in- unfortunately the government can’t do anything for you- busy with housing illegals with taxpayers money.

I was on the streets of Leeds when I was 15-17 on an off I was addicted to heroin an it was the most terrifying time of my life, I’ve been clean since 27-8-03 the krypt was a life saver for me at times, but what he says is right you soon over stay your welcome with friends etc,
Not sure I’m convinced by the couple saying that because of covid it fucked up their situation. The only people who didn’t get any assistance during C19 was people who were working and paying their bills. Everyone else got money thrown at them. Note: I believe passionately that homelessness is a tragedy. I just don’t buy every single story.
I thought exactly the same, some people just can’t be arsed or have any determination to do anything with their lives. But like you said it is tragic how some people end up.
Truth is most people are skint them selves these days it’s hard to help the homeless especially when there is about 100 in Leeds . Which ones do you help?
Drug addiction and alcoholism are to blame for everything, an endless terrible cycle. Only they can help themselves. Even if society makes every effort, nothing will change if a person does not want to fix the situation himself. And he can't because of very great dependence or weak will.
That dude just listed his meals for the day starting with MC Donalds then a Starbucks and Gregg's. Nice warm hostel and money for drugs. Sign me up, working outside for long hours in the winter is no longer for me. Ffs

750,000 economic migrants last year, more this year. How can there be any homeless people in the UK, with our levels of diversity we should be strong enough to eliminate poverty altogether.
Whilst I do not wish homelessness on anyone and think there should be initial support for rehabilitation ex prisoners etc. It should only be for a certain amount of time. The world is a tough place, maybe some people should think about their life choices rather than blame others. The 2nd guy that had never worked, I have no sympathy whatsoever. It isn't difficult to get a warehouse job. I left home at 16, worked and managed to run my own place. It boils down to attitude and life choices in the majority of cases.
He sounds like a mammies boy “oh I never worked never had to” but then his mam died and he couldn’t pay any bills. Not necessarily, don't judge too fast. We have people living out on the streets through no fault of their own. The problem mostly arrises because immigrants are giving accommodation while the poor of the country are simply not cared about.

It's increasing all the time. So sad. It's probably Leeds' biggest problem.
