    Very nice and intuitive explanation brother. Well, I had a question for you. I would be grateful if you please answer- @08:55 you said a vertical downward component will cause more bending to the horizontal beam and that's why you preferred the X- bracing over chevron bracing. But please notice, I can see 2 advantages of chevron over X. These are:
    1) in case of X bracing the beam is long and there is no support/joint like chevron in between- which increases the clear span length vs width i.e. slenderness of the beam and more slenderness contributes to more buckling! On the other hand, in chevron, the beam's clear span length is significantly shortened due to the support joint at the middle, and there is less buckling I guess.
    2) @08:55 as you said about the vertical downward component faced by the beam in chevron bracing which I think is correct. But at the same, the vertical downward component is countered by the other diagonal in chevron bracing! So the bending effect is again reduced by this mechanism. Here also in my opinion the Chevron wins.😊 So please consider my question and we'll be happy if you share your feedback regarding this. Thank you.❤

      Stunned by your in depth understanding. Very few times I got a comment like this but when get, its really a delighted moment for me. I will try to put a video on this

    Nice subject. I only think you're taking the wrong path by taking the directions of the forces applied. Only the members that can take pulling forces can play a role since all compression beams tend to buckle. So the directions of the forces should be along the other trace.

      Not necessarily they will buckle..its only our assumption for easy calculation..by the way Thank you sir for your valuable observation 🙏

      Strut and tie
      I also believe he has all the bracing in compression (in his statement); some are in tension... unless you happen to load at the nodal area but, I do not believe that is the intent of this bracing (it is NOT doing ''double duty = the outer wall beams appear to be of all the same sizing - I hope)...
      Pushing/compression has an opposing force of a tension force ...

    • @jgross5403
      @jgross5403 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The inverted V half the load goes into each brace and in the X bracing might work only in tension

    • @ForensicCats
      @ForensicCats 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jgross5403 , no load goes into the X bracing until it is a strain/stress or unless they have the ''top chord'' taking on a load that must be distributed down the bracing and this would only be applicable on that section and would create a torsion issue = not recommended == do not do that.

    Hello Tanmoy...Nice subject
    Actually I am getting refresh, watching these videos..the subject I left almost 10-12 years back..
    However I remember one unresolvable question, if you can put your though on this
    In Azarbizan, the Temperature is very extreme, very hot as well, very cold..and with this situation which kind of bracings are most suitable for steel structure for transmitting lateral forces.
    Appreciate your work. All the best.

      I suggest not to use bracing..rather go for cables. They are much effective in this type of condition.

    thanks a lot in x direction why load p did not go to colum directly its also short path like the horizontal section , is it deal with stiffness i mean colum size is more than horizontal section if that correct why we dont put the bracing in the first bay to go directly to the first colum . in charvon bracing load p go to horizontal then to node which have shape ^ why he go to one incline direction why its not going to both incline direction .

    How do we calculate the length of the brace in x Bracing

  • @SHLee14

    What happens if I made a Chevron Bracing for lower half of the building and X-Bracing for the upperhalf? I'm just wondering what if adding every truss structure with no physical or mathmetic consideration. The more, the better?

      work out and see .. you find its waste of so much materials.. only by calculation we understand the quantity of need of bracing..

      Isn't the vertical joint below P shorter than than the length to the cross bracing? Or do we assume that the columns is one full beam?... sorry for my English btw.
