As an Englishman, the term 'old Money' is used but it means something slightly different. It's basically The upper classes, in most cases don't have the money they used to have to splash and have to hand down everything, like an old Jag and/or Land Rover from the 1970's that is currently serving the 4th generation of the family and wearing clothes that belonged to grandad like an old Watch, Flatcap, Waxed Jacket, pair of Brogues and Tweed suit from the top end brands Like Rolex, Lock&Co, Crockett&Jones & Huntsman. The only expense needed is the resizing at the tailors & re-soling and a polish by the cobbler. Because these items are classically timeless, they still look good today than they did 50 years ago (After a bit of love).
@@SpamMouse To be fair, the American class system is built on different foundations to the British. Material wealth is far more important to class in the US than over here
@@SpamMouse the term Old Money in America means a family that has had money for generations as well. But doesn’t mean they have hand me downs. Means they have been rich and are probably more rich now and powerful now. Glad to know how the term is used across the pond.
The Russian parvenus in the 1990s all started wearing Versace and the gaudiest gold jewellery known to man. We literally do not have any old money families. This explains a lot.
I loved your comment, “your a fashionista… what are you doing watching my videos? You should be making your own videos.” It was hilarious, humble and kind
Okay so I just realized that this is now the 4th video of your channel that I have been watching despite me not having a genuine interest in the overall theme of your channel... And I just realized the reason why I still enjoy watching these videos: There's so much attention to the colors used, the tempo of the presentation, everything you learn in school about how to make a good presentation is done to such a degree that I genuinely enjoy watching these videos and develop an interest for something that I previously didn't care much about. Well done!
For quality versus quantity, I use the cost per wear equation. If you buy something for £100 and wear something once, that one time costs you £100. However, if you wear it 4 times, each wear has cost you £25, and so on the more you wear. Cost per wear is the way to go.
Why a first rate watch, bought right (used), can be such a long term bargain. You wear it DAILY. They last FOREVER. And stainless only gets better, with wear. And there ARE excellent brands other than Rolex, that are less common...
I love your program. I know you target men, but there are a lot of treasures here for women too and I love that. I learnt from you how to be versatile, and buying quality over quantity. Keep up the work!
Awesome channel! I'm a big fan. My 2 cents: something I learned about 40 years ago... find yourself a tailor. Now, things have changed quite a bit in the last 4 decades: fast fashion, off the rack clothing in warehouse settings, etc. For suits, trousers, blazers and sport coats - the way to go is with a tailor. They're still out there. My first tailor is a chap I'll never forget! It was the the early 1980's... an older (he was probably only about 50 then but I was in my 20's) Italian chap. His name was Gino and he had a small shop in Montreal called "Gino Le Tailleur". He was a master! Now, Gents, this is fair dinkum: get yourself tailored clothing! Nothing approaches how wearable this stuff is! Is it more expensive? Yes and no. Yes - the initial outlay of cash is more than a warehouse off the rack but you will wear it perfectly! A good tailor will be worth every penny! Gino's shop was a half step above a hole in the wall but he turned out brilliant, brilliant work! Also - you can get anything you want: any fabric, any cut, any fit... but get a good tailor and trust him. Anyway, that's my 2 cents.... good deal of rambling for only 2 pennies! Wee edit: Antonio is spot on! Learn to adjust/tailor your own shite! I'm a retired Senior Chief and one of the most useful skills I picked up as a young sailor was to sew. I use it rarely these days but once learned it's always in the toolbox.
Let's be honest, "old money" is a trend now, everyone and their dad is talking about it to the point of "here we go again," but your advice is at the high level we have come to expect from you. As far as fit goes, having a few custom shirts helps too. I had two made when I got my suit. Plus it's not a ready-to-wear item, so it is next level just by itself. Even T-shirts can be elevated: I have thin arms so I stitched up my T-shirt sleeves a few centimetres so they don't stick out. And as my arms get bigger at the gym I can adjust the new seam.
Great advice. You can dress well in a classic style on a budget. People think you have to be rich. I'm not too fond of shopping so I try to have this mindset of timeless
To expand upon quality over quantity when you are looking to improve your wardrobe, one way I taught myself to do this (and believe you me this lesson was deceptively difficult) was to start shopping at stores like Burlington and TJ Maxx (I'm sorry for not knowing a proper descriptor for those of you outside the US). By going to these stores where literally EVERYTHING is marked way down by 50% or more, I forced myself to expand my wardrobe but to do it with discipline so I do not simply buy every item I COULD even somewhat like or want. Sure, there are over a dozen well made, name brand shirts in here that fit me and are the style I want, but I only NEED one or two of them. Expand this to jackets, coats, pants, t-shirts, undergarments, and now I go shopping with a strict check list any garment must satisfy for it to come home with me. It's why I have been very methodical in expanding my formal wear, because I know everything in these nicer stores will satisfy my needs, but I want to find the particular piece(s) that I will wear over and over again and make staples in my wardrobe rather than mere occupants. It is by no means the easiest way to go about things, gents, but if we want to be our best selves we need to do those things that are necessary and most effective, not just what is easy or simple.
Went to a vets suit drive last year and was super excited to find great quality pair of Italian made dress shoes with a Blake stitch in them. They're a beautiful cognac color that pairs well with my blues!
Yeah, never ignore the second hand market. No sale EVER will have prices this low. But you do have to buy with knowlege...of styles, brands, and quality, or it is money wasted. And find a good cheap tailor...the right fit makes ALL the difference.
Started buying Anson belts about a year ago, I now have about 9 of them. I too accidentally cut one too short and contacted them and they did send me a replacement.
My tip for white shirts, either woven or t-shirt knits, is to prevent underarm and collar staining and prevent dinginess, these can be difficult to remove, so it’s better to prevent them: 1.pre-treat cuff edges, underarms and inside collars first with Shout or Spray and Wash, even when new and clean, let sit overnight or at least a couple of hours; then 2. wash all white separately, even from other light colors like off-white, in the hottest water they can take, with a scoop of BIZ* added to the detergent. If stains are present initially, stop the washer for 30-60 minutes to allow them to soak, after all the detergents are dissolved and the clothes are thoroughly mixed into the soapy water solution. I use only white linens (sheets and towels) so I can always make a full all-white load every two weeks or so (and it simplifies my life!) I have white tops that are 20 years old and still immaculate, none need to be replaced. Chlorine bleaching can actually yellow whites, so I only use that as a last resort to remove stains that I couldn’t remove with my usual treatments. Sometimes 2 or 3 spot treatments and launderings are needed to remove tough stains, try that first, but don’t machine-dry, steam or iron in between attempts - heat sets stains. *No brand affiliation, but I do love BIZ, it’s the best laundry additive/color-safe bleach and stain remover I’ve found.
Great advice. I used to get bad staining around my collars. I found washing more frequently helped. After 1 wear, I wash it within a week or less, usually.

Hello Dear Antonio, I like ur taste in fragrance, and find it to be similar to what i like, it seems same skin nature thats why i go with blind purchase based on your videos, and never failed, (Except for the Fehrenhiet EDT, I buy from Bergamo airport Duty free shop, and feels it has no smell) I would like to thank you for ur videos, where it had a positive impact on my look i would like to ask you for your preferred Green Polo Fragrance, is it the EDT or the intense I will be very grateful for your quick respond to my question
Quality (read pricey) makes sense when you know what you will like or do next 10 years: or money is no issue (lucky you). Otherwise, better to experiment with and replace and update a cheaper wardrobe.. A teenager becomes a uni student, soon he is a young professional… (ie.) He is not going to wear, like and need the same ‘quality’ that lasts forever.
This is kind of a challenge. Im not q very active person. Outside work i dont do a whole heck of a lot besides ride my motorcycle. So i have 2 basic ideas maybe? My full time job is at a grocery store so how can i dress maybe more sharply for that job while still being functional? And since my favorite thing to do is ride my motorcycle, do i develope a style based primarily around that? Im also nearly 40 years old and i have NO idea what works for me lol. Ive never had "style" blue jeans and tshirts is it. What do i do?
My wife called me a hobo the other day. I was going to buy some spare fore my grass trimmer. I wore cut of old jeans, an old now one size to small quiksiver t shirt, a pair of worn out sneakers. On my arm my green Rolex submariner, for my eyes RayBan aviators, panama hat on my head. I drive an old Landrover.
I am utterly ridiculous. I have 20 sport coats, many are doubles because of tweed versions and different shades of the same color. lol. The idea is you can wear a different coat every day and get the "hey, nice jacket" one day....and then several days later...."bro that's a badass jacket but WTF how many do you own every time I see you you're in a different one!" Is this overkill? It's because, if you have 3 or 4 only, and wear each one daily, you quickly reach a point where people think you're wearing the same thing every day. I want to avoid that.
Realistically you’ve taken the phrase old money and put it in the title to get more views. I credit you dress well and you give good advice but don’t mislabel things just to get more views. This video is an American-dress-well style not old money. Anyway great vid mate
I enjoy your videos, very much so, but living in the United States -- even though California is not the "typical" US State -- and given that I for professional reasons very often carry thousands, sometimes tens of thousands of Dollars cash on me, I always carry a sub-compact firearm concealed inside my waste band. Consequently, every decision regarding clothing has to take this concealment into consideration. My primary dress code is a loose shirt over blue jeans or trousers, and if I I have to dress up a bit and don't want to wear a jacket in the hot summer months, I wear a dress shirt and a waist coat -- think Raymond Reddington and you get the idea. I know that I'm one of a few millions of men who do the same, and wonder where you are located and why you never seem to address this issue when you talk about how to dress? Do you have body guards or are you not in the slightest concerned about becoming the target of a violent robbery?
With an unlined linen jacket in hot weather you will find that it's natural movement creates your own personal breeze cooling you down while at the same time looking stylish, you're welcome. 🤔
@@SpamMouse I've really tried wearing different materials and I always feel best in a shirt, preferably linen, and even though they don't look the best, I like them the most, but thank you for the advice.
Much of this has little to do with old money, belt buckles in particular. “Style” is not a term to apply to old money. Old aristocrats wear the clothing of relatives, even grandparents. Fit be damned. The “Preppy Handbook” spells out the rules, or rather, customs of old money. Jeans do not express old money. This presentation better expresses middle-class values.
So in this video you're saying drive, fly, and shop all over to learn what high quality is. Okay....so there is no value to your time? You spend let's say ten or twenty hours shopping/driving around then you gain knowledge and go to spend time shopping at stores to find a bargains since now you know what quality feels like? Okay so you get that $200 shirt for $20 and you think you saved $180 but at what cost? You spend 20+ hours shopping and learning and let's say another 2 hours for the 50+ miles driving around to save $180???? That works out to $8.18 per hour plus cost of gas you had to spend to "save" $180. Instead maybe just buy at a high priced store and not waste all that time, energy, and fuel?
"How To Look Rich Without Breaking the Bank" what's the point of looking rich? or rather isn't it easy enough? haven't you seen Mark Z. from meta of B. Gates or W. Buffet? flexing wealth you don't have won't serve you well
Easily… you put one leg in at a time. You put one arm in at a time…. Then you own it!! No matter what comments some may give. If you exude confidence (even if you have to fake it to make it) in what you wear… it’ll work. You will always have some that are jealous and will give snarky comments. Had people at work tell me that I didn’t have dress the way I did. Just told them I like to. Even after the same person said it 5 different times.
Stop worrying about versatility. Buy the look. You know it looks great and it takes zero seconds to figure out how to style. For the blazer, buy and wear matching trousers instead of trying to be “creative” on pairing with this and that colors.
Reduce the video sizes between 10 to 12 minutes . Your videos are longer recently and honestly it's hard to keep patience these long time . If the topic is longer , divide it into 2 and upload separately .
Depends on the subject, however do not forget unless you are paying for Mr A's time directly some of his income for providing you this FREE information comes from the viewing-hours and ad-spend via advertising, a small price to pay so don't whine about it.
"How to look rich" is in the title and is so wrong to begin with. If you wanna look rich there are other problems your having that need to be focusing on first.

Antonio great video, great advice
Ikr, but the salesman in the rich clothes store are usually arrogant and may ignore the quality questions you ask.
What is your daily dresscode?
I am a software developer/researcher... my PJs are my dresscode.
I need to revamp my style for the 1 day/week I go out... it is a shame.
Good styling. Thank you. 👍
You need to make a video about succession clothing
Anybody have any recommendations for some good flannel trousers? 🙏🙇

Hello Dear Antonio, I like ur taste in fragrance, and find it to be similar to what i like, it seems same skin nature
thats why i go with blind purchase based on your videos, and never failed, (Except for the Fehrenhiet EDT, I buy from Bergamo airport Duty free shop, and feels it has no smell)
I would like to thank you for ur videos, where it had a positive impact on my look
i would like to ask you for your preferred Green Polo Fragrance, is it the EDT or the intense
I will be very grateful for your quick respond to my question
All great but mention the socks for an,, old money" style :D.
Nice
This is kind of a challenge. Im not q very active person. Outside work i dont do a whole heck of a lot besides ride my motorcycle. So i have 2 basic ideas maybe? My full time job is at a grocery store so how can i dress maybe more sharply for that job while still being functional? And since my favorite thing to do is ride my motorcycle, do i develope a style based primarily around that? Im also nearly 40 years old and i have NO idea what works for me lol. Ive never had "style" blue jeans and tshirts is it. What do i do?
Probably the chinos and polo or a button down for the work wear.
Dark jeans with maybe a slight flannel shirt for the motorcycle
My wife called me a hobo the other day. I was going to buy some spare fore my grass trimmer. I wore cut of old jeans, an old now one size to small quiksiver t shirt, a pair of worn out sneakers. On my arm my green Rolex submariner, for my eyes RayBan aviators, panama hat on my head. I drive an old Landrover.
Nine belt combination not six...
I want to look like I'm barely getting by.
Jorts and a superhero t shirt
Pretty sure that's the kind of people who you will attract! LOL
1. Have old money.
2. See number 1

Tip and take it as you want. DO NOT try and look rich, do NOT try and look like something you are not, it will mess up your brain.
Just wear what you want. If you have to look rich? You probably are not 😂
Jackets for the summer? You crazy Latino, if I wore anything more than shirt for the summer, I'd literally cook myself.
@@piotrnowak7730 Rock the summer Piotr ! 👍
@@SpamMouse Thanks, have a good one 🐭
Oldmoney is not about dressing rich
"How To Look Rich Without Breaking the Bank"
what's the point of looking rich? or rather isn't it easy enough? haven't you seen Mark Z. from meta of B. Gates or W. Buffet?
flexing wealth you don't have won't serve you well
I wonderr how kany "rich" people shop at Target or Walmart.. Who cares if I LOOK rich. Opinions dont majs my money.
How can a 17 years old wear a suit ?
Please do not listen to this guy. The length is fine. 🙄
Depends on the subject, however do not forget unless you are paying for Mr A's time directly some of his income for providing you this FREE information comes from the viewing-hours and ad-spend via advertising, a small price to pay so don't whine about it.

I find it interesting that Seersucker was initially a very affordable option but now it can be hard to find and more expensive than some other options
"How to look rich" is in the title and is so wrong to begin with. If you wanna look rich there are other problems your having that need to be focusing on first.
bs all the way.....................................................
people crazy af nowadays. I dress poor lol
I never heard "Sprezzatura" in Italy sorry (I'm from Milan).
In any case, thanks for the useful contents I'm a huge follower of all your suggestions 🫶✅
Any "Gentlemen" don't have to look through any "Gazettes" for a very detailed video on the subject of Sprezzatura, only the wise understand. 🤔
