      @@hondaphan4172 i still drive mine like 85 down the freeway, and it's the no overdrive havin front wheel drive only bare bones crv that was originally from california but made its way to me here in arkansas via the only other owner it ever had. and she babied it. i bought it with 262k i think and replaced the timing belt, water pump, worn out engine mounts and other bad bushings. she's still got gooood compression and power and just won't quit. the trans needs flushing again, they get dirty and like to hang in a gear or two but a double atf change usually fixes it for 20k-ish miles. i also adjusted the valves but they've still got plenty of adjustment left. three hundred ten thousand miles, that's crazy. i swear it'll go another 300k, crossing fingers.

    • @miles8933

      Heck yeah! I'm also driving a '98 in Arkansas. Mine has only 184k though. These things are rock solid and refuse to die. Just did my timing belt, WP, engine mounts, and valve adj on mine as well. I was even lucky enough to get the license plate "CRV". Holler if you ever see me around @@JakobSchafferDrums

I have a 99 ex RT AWD auto that I did a lot of work on to get it running well and now it runs like a champ but the suspension is absolutely blown out and I don't know anything about suspension. I took my car to the shop and did a complete suspension job by replacing all four new spring and struts. The ride did improves a little but not that much, it did smooth and good when going over big bumps with low speed on local but perform badly on uneven surfaces on some part of the highway its kind of rough and uncomfortable and I wonder if the old sway bar links are the blame.

    • @hondaresource
      @hondaresource  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Sway bar end links won't change the quality of the ride. They still do their job even if the are clunking a little. The clunking just gets annoying

    On these valves I know they tend to tighten up so much they break off. Is it best to put it directly to spec or is there a better setting? This is a 2001 with 251,000 on the motor.

    • @hondaresource

      I go straight up spec

    • @hondaphan4172
      @hondaphan4172 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I always adjust my valves to the loose side of specs with the "go-no go" method which means I make sure the thickest feeler gauge(within spec) passes through but the next thicker size(which is out of spec) does not. I've done it this way for years on my '98(now at 296k miles) and it takes the guesswork out of the tedious process along with also making sure it gives you a bit of cushion when the valves tighten over time. I've found the recommendation to check them every 30k miles to be overkill. I stretched the interval to 40k for awhile and the last time I stretched it even further to 50k. Even at 50k I only needed to adjust a couple of them but only because I want them on the loose side....they were still well within spec. My B20 still purrs like a kitten.
