nice post - been using the Theta business edition for about 2-years - mediocre quality, but I only charge 50 as an add on - it does use up cellular data on site though - I am able to custom the WB, ISO and exposure comp for each shot, which I like. I paid the Theta off in a few months with the add on and it just keeps on giving!
Thank you. If I'm just taking a 3d tour for a realtor do I have to "post the listing" or can I just send a link to the tour to the real estate agent. Completely new to this.
Curious - do you have to have a live internet connection with your phone? What happens when you are doing a scan where you have no signal? Is it like Matterport where you can upload once you are on wifi or have signal? Thanks!
Thank you for posting this video, great info! Btw what kind of settings do you use for Theta Z1 since there is no post processing available after the shoot?
Hey Mike great insight w Zillow 3D home app & coverage on point - question how app syncs house location on listing & thus can validate 3D home tour upload? From your device of choice whether phone or Ricoh Theta - the finished virtual tour is more of less attached to the addressed listing correct? Thanks for sharing in advance!
I’m having an issue with going back over an area at the beginning of the home. Not sure what’s the best method to go back over areas. I enter the house and the living room and kitchen split to the left. And then the hallway to the left takes you down the hallway and into the bedrooms. But It seems to skip over from the kitchen back to the hallway on the left side. Not sure what’s causing that.
@@smcarmel hi, there’s no need to go back over any area. Once you scan an area move onto the next and so on. You should never have to scan an area again.
I’m not entirely sure. I’ve never been in that scenario. You do have to sign into the app and all to do it and that will require connection so I’m guessing that may be an issue.
Hey Mike! Hope you are doing well! Do you still think the Ricoh Theta Z1 is the most adequate equipment to do quality Virtual Tours, without spending the big bucks? I use the Trisio Lite 2, really like the quality, the only issue is the workflow, doesn't work directly with matterport app... Thanks!
Does the tour remain under your name? (Name of the person who took the tour). How would you get it to the listing real estate agent to list it under their name?
It remains under who’s account it was shot on (so your name). It’s automatically connected the address and Zillow listing so there’s no need to transfer it to someone else like the agent. It doesn’t display your name on Zillow, it’s unbranded.
So it just posts to the listing on Zillow even if the agent hasn’t updated the photos yet or if the listing isn’t live yet? I’m a little confused on that part.
Another very helpful video. How do you deliver the finished product to the realtor? Do you send it to Zillow on your own account or does the realtor have to send it?
Sorry, but I am unclear here. Do the tours have to viewed on Zillows site or can my client upload the tour and view it from their own real estate website?
Great video, I’m definitely interested in offering this. I have the Matterport pro 2 camera. Would I be able to use it with the Zillow app or do I need something like the Theta? Thank you in advance!
For just Zillow tours maybe not but if you are doing matterport or a higher end product like that I would definitely say it’s worth it. Depends on how much you are doing these sort of things.
What do you think of alternatives to Matterport like Metareal which offers dollhouses and floorplans much cheaper. The quality and customization is really good too and you can pay a small price to have them stitch together the shots. Kuula looks really good as well.

Yeah, I definitely think Zillow will keep the app open. They want people to be dedicated to their platform as much as possible. Matterport is still my go to for these type of tours and what people ask for the most. The Z1 is great! Yea, definitely recommend it. I have never used the Insta360 x3 so not sure about that one.
