I was so into this record and saw Tull on their Thick As A Brick" tour..They played Aqualung in it's entirety right after the never heard before " Thick As A Brick" Awesome deep dive, Jeff.. I'm watching and listening. Thanks for this 👌
Just dropped Sean off for school.. Had Aqualung cranked.. Especially Martin's epic solo ! Very few in that era nailed a perfect heavy solo as Martin did back in 1971 ! Your sonics on these deep dives are excellent 😊 I turned age 14 right when Aqualung was released..
I'm pretty sure Aqualung is my most listened to record. It was really enjoyable watching and listening to your cuts of of side 1 and side 2. Nice work, Jeff 🎵
A great treatment of my favourite album of all time . And it has been since I first heard it in early 1972 . Why ? Maybe it's the thought provoking lyrics , or the beautiful blending of acoustic and electric rock , or Martin Barre's ferocious guitar playing , and Anderson's terrific singing . All put together , it's unlike any other album that I've heard , with the angular riffs , and the great supporting instrumentation from the other members of the band . Like you , I never tire of listening to it. The accompanying video that you put together was excellent . Many thanks !!
Phenomenal DD Jeff!! I love this album and you did a great job highlighting it! Crazily 2 of my favorite bands covered songs from this album ( Clutch with CEM and WASP with Locomotive Breath)! One of my favorite DD videos you’ve done👏👏👍🤘🤘
What a fantastic album! I recognized your prostitute video from a previous DD but can’t remember which one. Not complaining, just showing I pay attention lol. I like how you did this deep dive. You had total respect and praise for this classic but added some pretty humorous parts. I’m glad you gave Martin Barre credit on here too. He’s kind of an unsung guitar hero. Ian is such a unique lyricist and songwriter. Everything came together on this one. That intro to Locomotive Breath is one of the best ever! Love this video!
Thanks Gary. This was a challenge on many levels because there is not a single video of JT from this period (go figure) so I had to cobble together old and more recent footage without it seeming like I was rehashing the previous episodes. Then a video I used several times throughout the original video got blocked leaving me with even less material to draw from. That’s why I ended up having to recycle some previous videos. Hopefully it turned out okay. 👍
Great album.I bet I've listened to some of the Beatles,Stones,Heep,Zeppelin and Tull 2 to 300 hundred times over the years since I was around when all these bands were starting they didn't have alot of albums.I remember playing Aqualung continuously when I got it
Great job! As a kid, I of course heard the heavy rotation songs on rock radio, and one day I bought a used copy at a garage sale and was blown away at how great the rest of the album was. I knew that Tull had released a concert vhs tape called "Slipstream", and when I saw a song on this album with that name, I assumed it would be something major. But, as you point out, it was just this little bit of a thing.
Hi Jeff!!! Back in the mid 80's, when i was starting to listen to the kind of music i still like (hard rock/heavy metal.....) listening for the first time to Jethro Tull sounded old and outdated, years went by and now i have listen again to some of the most famous albums and can appreciate really good things, i think i would try to get this one in the near future. cheers and be well
Thanks Cristian! I remember hearing Aqualung as a kid but it never connected with me until I was much older. It’s one of those albums that is truly timeless. Cheers!
Hey Jeff! The SW remix is the way to go! It is a masterpiece. Would love to see you dancing around the maypole. Yes, the piano is the highlight to "Hymn 43." My band used to play "Locomotive Breath". Even though it is a pretty boring bass line, I always enjoyed playing the song. Ian Anderson says it was about overpopulation. I finally received the correct 'Benefit' box set. Do you want that? If not, I can return it and send something else for my June pick of the month. Run time for this album is 42:55, for a couple seconds there I thought you were going to match it, be it intentional or not. FYI: you missed by 34 seconds. Cheers!
Thanks Steve! I was thinking this album might break the 45 minute barrier but I trimmed off a couple songs. I can imagine Locomotive. Breath being a lot of fun to play live. Did you have a flute player or just forego that part? I would love the Benefit box set if you don’t need or want it?
@@jeffwhitchervinyldestinati4486 Our lead singer stole a flute from his high school music class, and taught himself. 'Benefit' will go out via UPS tomorrow.
I think "poor old sod" in this case is more along the lines of "that poor bastard, what's wrong with him?" Not really an insult per se. Although the guy apparently has some unseemly tendencies.

Loved this album. Cross eyed Mary best Locomotive Breath and My God. All my friends loved it too.

1971 was one of the best years for rock and roll.

Thanks! Very strange they would have chosen that song as the title of a concert tape. Did they even play the song live?

Awesome video for an awesome album, brother! Jethro Tull had such a unique sound. I think I need to spin this one today thanks to you.
Thanks Chris! Do you have the Steve Wilson remix? It’s a wonderful way to hear it.
