Hello everyone! If you're downloaded my rip before today (April 24th, 2018), you should redownload it, because I've fixed Foundry being too slow. Sorry about that! I got mixed up between files back when I was editing everything together and that issue completely slipped by me. (for what it's worth, Unreal's own music player had this issue as well!)
Aah! Return To Na Pali... what an excellent expansion this was! Being around the half of the original Unreal's length, it still had a lot of cool new things, like all the environments (that fantastic ice plateau and castle and whatnot), enemies, weapons, story, excellent music, and just a great dip back into the world of Unreal! My favorites from the RTNP OST would include: *Interlude II*, Twilight Horizon, the action part of *Neve's Crossing*, Star Seeker, *Savana* (though I feel like a part might be missing), Black Wind, *Watcher of the Skies* (god I loved this part so much), *Escape from Na Pali* (definitely the most memorable one for me from RTNP), and I also really like the Ending track. :D Thanks a lot for uploading these in such a good mix with time stamps and whatnot! Really appreciate it, Unreal being one of my favorite video game series.
The opening sequence for this expansion gives me massive Star Trek vibes. I mean, the influence could already be seen in the original game but this is just awesome.
@maxOfS2D I would like to thank you very much for what you did for all of us, fanatics of the "Unreal Music". I remembered the days I was using unreadEd to extract mp3s from the .umx songs! But most of all I remembered the feeling of the days where Unreal was an unbelievable game! No matter if the plot was linear the mood of the game accompanied by THIS music was unimaginable. Who can forget the "depths of Radjikar" or the "Heaven town" or the crypts of the Nali castle...Also the changing of the rythm and mood of the main song (of each level) according to your situation (under attack e.g.) was something that enhanced the experience (there are parts in these songs where the rythm "under attack" becomes better than the song itself e.g. Sunspire, Gala's Peak). I still listen to these songs as well as other songs of Alexander Brandon! Thanks again for all the effort you put to give us this. (Y)
well we are making a game very similar to unreal gold/return to na pali and it was heavily influenced and inspired by these games with both the story and the soundtrack. Its called "chaos" and will be launching on PC and xbox one late this summer. It might be something you will be interested in! Anyhow I can certainly give you a free early access demo of it to try out soon
The Unreal soundtrack was written by MOD music authors Alexander Brandon and Michiel van den Bos with a few selected tracks by Dan Gardopee and Andrew Sega (Straylight Productions).
This is totally, absolutely fantastic! Maybe you could do UT99 in the same fashion? It doesn't have such chronological ordering as in original Unreal, but has a great soundtrack too.
I did rip UT99, you can find it here: music.maxofs2d.net/ I can't remember the details but there IS a chronological order: the single-player campaign. I can't find the materials I used for my research, but it was probably mostly the (excellent) Liandri Archives
I've played MDK2 and HALO with this some songs of this soundtrack instead of their. Probably one of my best gaming experience ever. An awesome soundtrack can really make a big difference.
the thing i learned: no matter what you do to try and save the NaPali, you cannot save them. they always die. every time. and the cruel masters in the game, well they are not so different from what we have manipulating us right now. the soundtrack is the best i have ever found. back in the early days the music was in ogg files so that they could be looped according to the game action.
So many great howling power ballads in this game by Siren. I like to "sing" with them often (if you excuse me haha). Yah, you derped with "Foundry". The second subsong should be played at speed 3. The intro section of it contains the Set Speed command. Sometimes the intro does flow inbetween songs, sometimes it doesn't. I think in "Demoncrater" the intro also connects well. It's surprising how the awesome song (Foundry) is never actually heard in the game. The music seems unfinished; the compositions not always scripted to a suitable correct location. "Bounds of Foundry" isn't broken into an action part, and are some other tracks. I am not very sure what goes on in Foundry with the "break". I think some heavy machinery runs (love the grinding, rotating bass...), then explodes, then I guess an alarm sounds, skaarj come.... Your arrangement of "Twilight Horizon" differs from the game. Subsong 2 is missing. In the game it goes like this: ambient - action - asskicked (new calm "tail" section different from Dusk Horizon, for after we kill the large brute). One more thing I found one must be careful with ModPlug. The tracks should be played with Scream compatibility (shared effect memory) _off_, or some slides behave funny. BASS also gives that replay. The expansion was on the easy side, except the Prometheus level when the SpaceMarines came. I died a hundred times and came close to passing the fight in god mode. I guess this is how the skaarj feel when attacked with an automag. The marines' accuracy didn't fall with distance as much as Terraniuxes', and the rocket launcher also felt almost hit scan.
Саундтрек оригинальной игры, конечно, лучше на голову, но этот тоже хороший. Удивляюсь, что до сих пор не сделали ремастер этой потрясающей игры с подтянутой графикой и адаптацией под современное железо.
I can hear similarities between this and age of wonders 1, in the way the music was wrote but also produced (samples and instruments), because Van Den Boss did both.

Completly wrong speed for the song "foundry". Was being technically precise the reason for keeping with it? It sounds horrible and if you know anything about the composer you should be able to spot signature harmonies and "sequencing" he uses in his other songs to then alter the track speed. This song and "wargate/nali boat ride" have caused alot of confusion in the community back then.
You're right. I remember checking tracks across the in-game levels, Unreal Gold's own UMX player, and then two other UMX players... but this has completely slipped by me. I'll see if I can update the rip soon-ish. My apologies.
Excellent. Thanks for the upload btw. Its good to see some people like you putting time and effort into keeping unreal tracks and music from respective composers alive.
Hello again; I've investigated this a little bit... it turns out I had rendered the song to WAV correctly all along, *but* I made a mistake when editing all the songs and grabbed a file from the wrong source. I'm gonna play the level again to remember how the song behaves and transitions again and will update the download very soon.
