BTW, why don't you only make videos with the binaural microphones? Is it more work, or do you just feel awkward when walking around with these ear-shaped thingys on your head? :D
I think about this thing continuously. No, the big problem is this microphone can't handle too loud noises from particular spots. Let me explain. These F1 of course are loud but as you can see I'm always placed where the car is off throttle, in the middle of a corner (the nearest point where I am placed compared to the car). The big problems are full throttle fly bys.. Audio is always distorted even with a "simple" GT3 car, a thing that doesn't happen with the standard stero microphone I use on my camcorder. Lately it seems to me the actual problem isn't the microphone itself but the portable recorder to which it's connected. Need to buy a different one and do some tests because I think it's not able to manage correctly the mic audio levels... We'll see Back to your question, no it's not much more work to do and no, isn't awkward at all walking around with it in my hears. Consider it's exactly like having two small ear phones you use listening to music etc ;)
No problem dude! Yep, I love answering as many comments I can and give some detailed answers because being a cars/motorsport sounds channel that's the only way I can interact with you all
19Bozzy92 this is awesome. I was around a lot of F1 cars in the late eighties. Mansell going round Silverstone in the Ferrari blew me away. You could hear him go round the entire circuit. Every gear change! I’m so so so sad that those days are gone
The best part is that you get to hear so many different engine configurations. This sounds like a clip from a race in 1995, with all the different cylinder counts.
The thing I find unique in your videos is the fact you allow the moment to linger. In doing so you capture not only the visual experience, but the audible one as well. This gives the viewer the chance to hear the subtle nuanced sounds created through Doppler shift, echo, reverb, delay; just in the experience from being there. Gold star!
You are a legend!! If one day I get the chance to go to Italy, I want to meet you and give you a firm handshake for your content. Thanks for making these videos man!! :)
I went to the Canadian Grand Prix in 2010 and 2012 when I was a little kid. I sat at the hairpin and the sound of the v8 going from 7th gear full revs to 1st gear is something I’ll never forget. This video gives me that same feeling in my chest I got when I heard those beautiful engines. Thank you bozzy!!!
Holy fucking shit!! I’ve listened to a LOT of binaural recordings and that was easily the best. Incredible. Close your eyes and stay stationary for the full effect.
This is amazing. Nobody can touch the content we get from Bozzy. There are other good channels out there, many of which I am subscribed to but none of them make me smile as much as this channel does...lol. Thanks as always Bozzy for the awesome content!
I love that you feature the sounds of cars in your videos. I hate that most other car shows have some clown talking over the engine note. Loved the science bit in the description, too. Keep up the good work
You can hear how much louder the 2011 V8 is to 2002 V10 at 9:58. That increase in horsepower per litre in the v8 really makes the difference 7:10 you can hear the F150 Italia maxing out the mic
I am so impressed with this video. Amazing quality, no music, just pure engine sounds of the engines we all love to hear. Thank you for recording these. Even just listening to the engine in the distance, AMAZING. Content like this is so rare. Well done, keep it up!
Why they spoiled these beautiful sounds I just dont understand, this is f1's trademark, if anyone way back played an audio tape and these were the sounds you knew instantly it was an f1 car. Great we have efficient cars now with good power but its just not as exciting or exhilarating, well to me anyways. Amazing lap times but I dont watch replays of the V6T cars, I find myself watching 2004 Monza etc. I wish we could get some sort of audio notes like these back.
Also while the new cars may be faster, the engines aren't nearly as explosive in their power delivery. The character of the vehicles is all different and ruined.
Let's see what happens in 2021, when the rev limiter is boosted up, the turbo sounded great in the 2018 season IMO but I think it just needs to rev higher now
@@user-zv8qg1co4z I've done that too many times, I've even been taken out by a Ferrari following that back straight. They sound good. That's why I'm saying let's wait until the rev limiter gets pushed back. It won't be as much of a scream, but it'll be much closer than what it would have been for the 7 previous years.
Bro how mad are you LOL Yes, the cars are a LOT more tame now. Just watch Senna around Monaco and you can tell a HUGE difference. Also this track still spooks me because of what happened to Senna here
I have been subscribed to you channel for a few years now and absolutely LOVE the content. Especially of what I know as the "soundtrack" of F1, the V10's. I recently bought a pair of Bose headphones and to test them out I came to your channel to find your binaural clips. And from someone that has seen and heard these cars in person many times, the feeling was like an orgasm for my ears!!! Bravo! Amazing work.
To be honest today's F1 cars sound not that bad when heard live. They sound very "high-tech" if you can say that. More like a "woosh" sound with strange turbo noise then they accelerate out of the corners. That said I love V10s. They are something else...
@@evann5451 that's not what happened. Ferrari increased fuel flow without making the sensors detect it, which is cheating and illegal. That's why they punished Ferrari. Also, engine regulations are tight but if you've ever seen Honda's evolution from 2015 to 2020 you'll know that the regulations still allow for plenty of development.
I loved this video on so many levels, I grew up watching the V10 era of F1, and absolutely love the V12 that was featured here too! I gotta say, the binaural audio really brings it all to life! Even the V8's sound way more appealing than what I remember with stereo recordings. Man, if you get a chance to catch a 4 rotor motor on the binaural mics, that would be intense!! Keep up the great work!!!
amazing. so happy that with this technology we can all get closer to what it was to experience in person the true beasts f1 cars once were. only thing missing is how you felt it in your chest. you'd need large speakers that can go to 145db (even the largest studio speakers reach "only" 130db).
Hi Bozzy! This is outstanding in every way, mate! Just reading the comments, the people have spoken and everyone really appreciates you going the extra mile for these special binaural videos. Such realistic, spatial sounds! To my knowledge, this is a first in one of your videos; therefore, since I speak and understand a little canine, I will provide you with a brief translation. At 7:47 , even the dog says this is awesome! ;o) Have a great day, sir. Cheers!
Hey mate! First of all: hahahaha LOL I'm laughing so hard about the canine part XDD Nice one ;) Now seriously speaking believe me I'd really like to use always the binaural mic for any video, if only I didn't have those distortion problems on fly bys :'( It's insane thinking a technology of 30-40 years ago is still the most realistic one :OO Thank you so much!
For the love of God, I love the v10 engine, but that v8 Ferrari f2007/8 just sounds sooooo good. And seeing it past you and looking at it from the back, with that big wing, shorter track and the upshifts. I LOVE IT!!!
Your channel is the best on the racing/cars ground on youtube. This audio inovation, sound quality and video quality is astonishing. I never saw something better. Hats down man!!
Jesus christ, that sound...how I wish this was still F1. The 3D Binaural audio is something else altogether. Honestly I feel like I am standing trackside it's that clear and crisp.
Mille grazie Bozzy! I was lucky enough to see and hear Jean Alesi's & Gerhard Berger's V12 powered 412T2's at Silverstone testing in 1995. You could hear them all the way around the lap... amazing! The pedestrian tunnel at Bridge corner was a metal tube so standing in that tunnel as a Ferrari changed down and powered through Bridge corner was sublime. This video is the closest I've come to that day.
The V8s and V10s have a certain buzz to them, where the V12 just shrieks like a banshee. Being from the States and growing up in the 1980s, the only exposure I got to Formula 1 was on rare occasions because it wasn't televised very much, at least it didn't seem to get much coverage in my rural area. I love all motorsport, but hearing that howl made me realize how cool they were. Also, to see them slice through corners at speed was mind-blowing to me because the only other racing I got to see was either NASCAR or dirt track racing. Trophy truck racing was fantastic as well! Sometimes there would be IMSA, Indycar, or similar racing series on tv, with the occasional WRC race. European touring car racing was also fantastic which reminded me, in a way, of our own Trans Am series. I'm not much for bikes, but I would check out Moto GP and similar racing as well because there's something satisfying about any engine revved to insane levels simply for the sake of speed. Thanks for the memories, Bozzy😎🏎️🏁
