[3D Binaural Audio] WEC Prologue 2017 Monza - LMP1, LMP2 & GT Cars

- Some static scenes I recorded during the 2017 WEC Prologue at Monza Circuit using my Canon camcorder and then combined with the audio recorded by my binaural micophone. Hope you like it!
-- What the hell is a 3D/Binaural recording? --
Binaural recordings are reproductions of sound the way human ears hear it. Traditionally, recordings have been made using mono or stereo. Mono uses a single microphone while stereo uses two, spaced apart from each other. Binaural recording takes the stereo method one step further by placing two microphones approximately at the same average distance that exists between one and the other human ear.
To recreate the best effect you must put the microphones in your ears or by using a "dummy head" (wherein a mannequin head is outfitted with a microphone in each ear) because having a real head or a head shape that separates the two microphones is what makes the magic works. In fact if a car passes on your left side the sound will take a few extra microseconds to reach the right ear and it will also be louder in one ear (left) than the other. This is caused by the fact we have a thick skull and spongy brain between the two ears and sound waves interact with the physical constitution of the listener and the surrounding space.

Some info about the fps issue watching videos at 360/480p: finally I was able to get in touch with someone from the TH-cam team. They understood there's actually a problem and they're now working in order to fix it. Don't know how much time they'll need but at least I'm glad they are aware of that now.
So if you have to see this video properly you must choose 720p or 1080p, but I think you just need your ears in this case ;)

Yeah I noticed that fps issue recently because before my computer wouldn't play 50 or 60fps videos properly, so I always pick 480p but now it's the other way around, 720p50 worked great for me and 480p was really choppy.. Anyway like you said all you really need is your ears :)

Well, considering the type of video watching in 720p and above should be a given, because the audio bitrate at non-HD resolutions is lower. Nice to see TH-cam fixing that issue though.

INSANE sound quality! 2:58 surprised me so much and it wasn't even the best yet!? You can really hear where the sound is coming from and how it's getting closer this is frankly incredible, I don't know how much that kind of microphone cost but the result is sick!

Another auditory marvel, Bozzy! 😚💕👂These videos are fantastic. I think it's great how you move all around the circuit for different perspectives rather than get bogged down in one spot for too long.👏 While not the ideal visual angle, the sequence starting around 4:30 was awesome!👊 I love how the cars slowed through the curve, then came around behind you and back out the other side. One more thing, while I don't like the flashing lights, I think long exposure still photos would be great for these cars. Have you tried any, yet? Great work, sir!

You should make all your videos from now on with the 3d-binaural equipment. They really are better than all the other videos about engine-sounds! :)
Should be great but my binaural mic can't handle very loud noises. I can't record from some places because I know it could distort and at the moment using the Canon mic is still the best option. One day I'll have enough money to buy and test the various binaural microphones in order to understand which one could be the definitive one ;)

Eravamo lì solo per vederle passare, seduti sul guard rail con il vuoto davanti a te non è proprio l'ideale per filmare.
Meglio che non mi vedi come mi posiziono per poter filmare da lì allora ahah Fortunatamente l'altezza non mi preoccupa è solo una questione che non mi piace sentire l'audio "tagliato" per quella frazione di secondo in cui la macchina è nascosta sotto il ponte
Ma poi da lassù secondo me non rende molto il video, poi io non sono uno esperto quindi magari mi sbaglio, però meglio andare vicino alle curve. Bello è stare lì a pochi passi dal ponte che amplifica bene il sound, così diventi sordo prima hahah.
