VGC isn't an esport. The scene was virtually dead until SV and the last thing you need is for them to tweak locals to the point where it's almost impossible to get your invite unless you can travel to every regional/IC. They already raised the bar to 500, if people have a problem with that they are free to try to qualify for a 1st round bye
The scene is certainly not dead now, and with the way everything is structured right now you probably have to go to several major events to qualify and that's exactly the discussion here. Hopefully they continue to adjust things to make it better
