Oh my goodness, Selma, you have really inspired me! I haven't been knitting long enough to have lots of scraps but now I want a scrappy sweater!! Your blue cardigan is so lovely and those socks are super cute!! Safe travels. Hope you have lots of fun!
Always love your podcasts Selma. They are informative, inspiring and full of eye candy. I envy your future trip to Brussels, London and Finland but am looking forward to the videos. Have a safe, lovely and relaxing 🤞🏼trip.
O my - your blue lace cardigan is beautiful!! Love the buttons also. We had a gorgeous well-known button store that has since closed its doors. Hard not to love a button shop! Happy travels Selma!
It was lovely again to spend part of my afternoon with my knitting, a cup of tea, and your latest episode. Your lace sweater with the delightful buttons is just perfect. I can see that you will really enjoy wearing it. Have a wonderful trip. Travel safely. Salam wa sa’aadah
You look beautiful in that gorgeous blue sweater. Have a very safe journey Selma. Would love to see some footage of your travels. Take care of your self. 🥰✈️🏴 🇧🇪 🇫🇮 🇨🇦 ✈️👋🏻👋🏻👋🏻👋🏻
Thank you, Selma for yet another lovely podcast! Congrats to your winners......truly lovely gifts. LOVE, your blue sweater, and YES, I think the buttons you settled on are perfect! That colour looks stunning on you! Your Podcast was the perfect distraction from the rainy day, here on the Left-Coast of our beautiful country (near Vancouver). Enjoy a safe trip to Europe. Looking forward to our next "visit".
Love that test cardigan! And all your makes! Glad your still dancing!! There just is nothing like dancing! I taught for 25 years and had to quit because of my feet. I miss it. I guess we just have to reinvent ourselves every so often. That has come for me again. I sing in sweet Adelines and a quartet and we compete but I am burned out doing that and realize it's time to move on! I dug out a quilt I had started 25 years ago and joined a local quilt group. It was so wonderful getting back into that! And I have a shed full of white China! Time to spend more time painting that or my kids are going to have to deal with it when I'm gone and I dont want them to have to do that. So I am diving into quilting and china painting! Love your pottery! Hope you have a safe trip and God bless!
Hi Selma, Thanks once more for your lovely chat. Your cardigan can’t be prettier. Safe journey and have a terrific time. Happy Easter and see you in a month. 💐💞
Congrats to your winners!! The test knit turned out beautifully with the perfect buttons. The spring socks are lovely. Good inspiration for scrappy stashy things. 🧶💕🧶
Oh, between you and Amy Palko, I may just have to cast on a Corran Cardigan! So pretty! Congrats on your 20K milestone! 🎉 I love your Spring socks, the colours in the heels, toes and cuffs are the perfect Easter colours. I hope you will be able to shop at some LYSs in Helsinki. 😊 I can't wait to see your yarn haul when you return.
Wonderful video, Selma, thank you for your lovely company. Always enjoy the way you show and tell! And welcome to Finland, great to hear that you finally have the opportunity to visit :).
Lovely test knitting, she’s designing very well. Thanks for including a few summer tees, as Va beginning to be in 70’s. All is blooming. I too have many bits and bobs of yarn that need a project, I just don’t want too scrappy a look. Have a lovely trip
Hi Selma, I live on the other side of canada from you and in our community we have a yarn library where one can leave your left over bits of yarns and skeins of yarn you are not wanting anymore. Things don’t stay unclaimed for very long either! It’s a lovely way to both give up or acquire yarn all for free.
What a bumper episode! How love;y. Those blue buttons reminded me of some on a frock I had as a child in the late ‘50’s! Re scraps…I’m obsessed with them! I have so many scrappy crochet blankets. And Chief Inspector Gamache - I know I’ve mentioned them to you before, we have read the entire series so far, all 17 of them, the actual books! Since Christmas Day! And we’ve just pre-ordered number 18 due out later this month. Thank goodness, we were bereft when we finished what we have! 😂 Have a great trip, Selma!
Your cardigan is beautiful and the buttons perfect!! I'm jealous of your trip to Finland! We were scheduled to travel there last year but cancelled due to the Ukraine situation starting up. Have a great time and I look forward to hearing about your travels. Congrats to the winners too!😊
What a lovely video to find when I'm sitting inside in Ottawa in the aftermath of the ice storm ! Can hardly wait for the power to come back in Quebec so I can head to my favourite beauty spot, too. Love to get out and enjoy the Canadian winter (not so much this ice, though !)
Another lovely podcast, thanks for sharing your projects and ideas. Have a wonderful trip. I was fortunate to live in Kuopia, Finland for a year in the 90s and the people were so kind and welcoming.
It was an opportunity to work in their University Hospital as an ICU nurse, through an exchange program. I have so many happy memories from my visit. That Christmas I was invited by a nurse to go to Lapland for Christmas and meet her family…It was amazing.
Another wonderful episode, thank you so much!!! I often travel for extended periods of time and can only bring carry-on. I suggest using packing cubes, limiting the amount of footwear, carefully choosing a color scheme for your wardrobe such as black and white or navy and white, and bringing a rectangular shawl that could double as a blanket on the plane. I also usually pack a lace weight or fingering weight project. Enjoy your travels!!!!
Hi Selma Your podcast was great as usually Such a gentle spirit The Corran cardigan was beautiful and those buttons really topped it off Also can’t wait to see your sweater you will be working on in Finland Hope to see that and pics from Finland Have a great visit Enjoy!!! 💝😊🇨🇦🇨🇦
Selma your test cardigan is beautiful and the buttons you picked are perfect for it! It’s always fun to hear about your knitting. Safe travels to Europe and enjoy all your time there!
I love the calmness of your voice...as I am knitting while watching your podcast. Your projects are beautiful. I am a Gamache fan and have just finished the 18th book...she's a talented author. Enjoy your trip.
The cardigan is so pretty, it looks great on you. All the scrappieness is so much fun. I don't know if you have any of the pieces that you used in your Granny blanket, but I was thinking how lovely it might be to have a scrappy boarder. Your trip sounds like a fun adventure, aside from the work part. Stay safe and healthy and I'll look forward to hearing all about it when you return.
I have only watched a couple of your podcasts and I love the way you present things. I was inspired to start a scrappy hat where I am using two partial skeins of Berroco Sesame that I found at a thrift store and added to some scraps I have from previous projects. looks great!
You did such a beautiful job on the cardigan and I’ll be looking for it to go live. I really like the idea of doing it in a cotton or linen maybe. Have a wonderful trip.
Oooh, happy travels! I do enjoy Kiki in a different way. She sort of makes one feel that anyone can do anything. Her wedding dress series was spectacular! Your Corran is lovely. Perhaps a linen cotton would be cooler for spring/summer. Especially if folks in your office like to turn the temp down to winter levels. I'm still knitting donation hats and earwarmer headbands from acrylic I'm tired of moving out of the way. The baby I had planned to make the blanket for is now almost 14, so time to put it to other use and I find that I'm enjoying doing the all white items. I did stop to make another pot holder though - it's cotton and just sort of randomly striped with variegated shades of blue and a solid blue. Knit rows alternated with purl rows --- simply by knitting inside the circular needles and then outside again as I work on my norwegian knitting technique. We went to Joshua Tree National park to our favorite viewing spot so hubby can manage with his walker - snow covered mountains, sunshine on the desert plants - the Salton Sea, the Palm Springs in Coachella Valley. It's just lovely and is not too much for him. Oooh, your ice is melting! Yay.
Safe travellings, hope our side of the Pond wellcomes you with mild weather and exciting experiences! 🎉 ["You wanna knit a blanket on a 7mm (or was it 5mm) needles". Aha! You do! Especially if you are currently knitting a blanket on 2.25 mm needles in a lace wool. Who does that? 🙃🤭🤣]
I’m with you on the avoidance of stripped or back and forth crochet. I always end up with one end shorter than the other. Need to figure it out, because I love the look of the striped crochet blanket. I am going to make a sweater by Kate Davies “Dothan” a fantastic stashbuster. Mine will be mostly in pink, Great show. Thanks. I need to look at your Ravelry group! Note to self.
Enjoy your trip to Europe, Selma. Hopefully you will take some footage, if not that’s okay just enjoy your time away in Finland. Love your cardigan love the buttons. Will check that place out. Have started my smash the stash caramel cardigan.
Thank you, Selma for another lovely episode. A few scrappy sweaters Seaglass by Wool and Pine and Penguono by Stephen West. So glad you are talking about projects for scrappy stashbusting!
Thank you for another lovely episode Selma! Your blue cardigan is beautiful. Have a good trip to Europe and thank you for mentioning my scrappy Isager Elton sweater :)
Your cardi is beautiful! I will be watching for the pattern release! So envious of your trip to Finland. I have family I have never met that live in the Pori area. I hope that you have opportunity to meet up with Jana (FKS)!
Love the stash ideas. I feel some coming into my world as have leftovers to use. If you have time in London- Beautiful Knitters is fabulous and near Victoria station.
I love the colour of your Corran. I can’t wait to start it. I wonder if a more summery yarn would work. I can’t even say how much I would love to go to that button store and spend hours picking out buttons. Have a safe and wonderful trip.
Congratulations to the winners. You have some beautiful WIPs. I think something scrappy in shades of pink would be very pretty. Take care and have a great trip.
Hi Selma, I'm glad you took a rest when you needed one. I love your cardigan. I have some sport weight cotton in that same colour and I think I will use it for that. I'm in Vancouver and im envious you can go to Montreal so easily. The button shop ❤❤
What a lovely surprise finding your latest episode this morning for my viewing pleasure 😊 A scrappy stashy “use up” year for me as well. I delight in your only crocheting in the round-as I’ve only worked back and forth 🤗 currently on my second Granny Stripe blanket ❤ Have a safe and wonderful trip!
Hi Selma: I had an issue with creases in my sleeves too. I saw this tip on a podcast: I purchased a slim pool noodle, cut it up and slipped it into my sleeves when my sweater is blocking. Results, no creases and a nice shoulder line as well. Maybe you might like to try it too! Safe travels, look forward to your return.
I love the buttons you chose! And you're so right, choosing the right ones for a project is really difficult. Love your podcast! All the best from Argentina!
Your cardigan turned out so lovely, I really like the all over lace design. I will be watching for the release as I would love to try this. Your socks are beautiful hope you can get them finished for your trip. I’ve recently see on “the Knitting project”, Sharon made the Whitmoor cardigan with her minis from an advent. It looks so pretty and a wonderful way of using minis and scraps. Have a safe trip, love and hugs xx
My stash buster challenge for 2023 is the Beekeeper's Quilt by Tiny Owl Knits. One puff per day before I knit on anything else. Worked in 4 ply scraps, less than 5 grammes each and I'm stuffing them with tiny bits of yarn too so zero waste

Your buttons story reminds me of a man in the news recently here in the U.K. He thought he ordered 12 pairs of spectacles but he ordered 12 sets of five . So a mountain of spectacles arrives !
Oh my goodness, Selma, you have really inspired me! I haven't been knitting long enough to have lots of scraps but now I want a scrappy sweater!! Your blue cardigan is so lovely and those socks are super cute!! Safe travels. Hope you have lots of fun!

That blue is so lovely and looks perfect on you! Safe travels and enjoy!

Your buttons story reminds me of a man in the news recently here in the U.K. He thought he ordered 12 pairs of spectacles but he ordered 12 sets of five . So a mountain of spectacles arrives !
Sounds familiar!!
