You don't know me but I make content too. I'm well aware how one negative voice somehow outshines 30-50 positive ones. Please don't let the doom scrolling get you down.
Also, as an older guy that loves extreme sports I'm an expert in healing from this kind of thing. 1) Do your physical therapy. All of it. Even if the exercise seems dumb and unimportant, do it. 2) The goal isn't to "get well soon". The goal is to "get well completely". It doesn't matter if you're better in 4 or 6 months. It matters that you're ok for the next 40 years. Follow your doctor's guidance, don't go ahead of schedule. Just nail the final product, which is 100% recovery.

It's hard to "like" the video, but I appreciate the update.
For me it's not the the injury itself, it's the surgery and recovery, and really the uncertainty. I had minor injury on my crash, but it put me out of for for 2.5 months. I didn't even address all the issues, that was just for the broken thumb!

Used your link to order a Kove 450 Rally on March 25th of this year. Saved me $500 in the deposit, so thank you! Hope you heal fast, and get to the other side of this injury. As I face my own medical challenge, I recall this quote:

The phone conversation and the dust broke your arm. It is a good lesson for all rallye riders 1) go down in pace when being distracted - more usually when sorting out navigation, 2) to keep good vision of track in gnarly dusty sections, keep distance from mate or if closely pairing, have the mate ride on the side of track where the wind blows dust away from track. Thank you for the superb videos and for the words against hate and violence. Wishing you a quick and complete recovery 👍🏻

1:26 I genuinely don't know who'd ever think that about a genuine guy like you... I do hope the injuries are not as bad as they seem and heal quickly! I hope there is light at the end of the tunnel, it's always a huge knock to confidence and your general wellbeing when you think you finally got something figured out and something bad happens... Don't think about it that way, think about it in a way that you're pre-paying your bad luck and have clean sailing ahead of you in the long term.

I feel your pain - I low-sided on some gravel on my cruiser back in May, dislocating my shoulder and tearing my rotator cuff. I'm just getting ROM and strength back now. I used the adrenaline rush at the time to roll myself off the road and get my leather off so the paramedics wouldn't cut it...then the pain came.
Still...I can't wait to get back on the bike in the spring.
Take care of yourself and DO THE PHYSIO !!

I broke my wrist on my KTM 450 EXC-F Six Days on my first ride of the season back in May. It wasn’t even due to taking a faceplant in the dirt… I simply hit a bump hard and it jarred my wrist.

I would encourage you to consider Patreon again, I’ve only started supporting people with it recently myself, but now I view it as community sponsorship. I really appreciate what you bring to TH-cam along with the quality of your work. I have no idea when I’ll be able to join you for a ride in person but I am with you for every ride on TH-cam! I recently purchased a used CRF250X and have started riding off road again for the first time in over 20 years. That’s all you brother! Been watching you for years, you provide great content and value, don't ever believe otherwise. Would come ride with you any time if I could ever get out that way. I could feel the pain of that crash through the screen, there's nothing even remotely humorous about something like that, to hell with anyone that would laugh at your pain. Keep the faith, get better, and don't believe anything other than 'it will happen'. Give it time & hang in there. You are not an imposter, you're the most human guy I know in the moto world and it's what sets your videos apart. You're doing rallys in foreign countries for Christ sake- as a 1 man show? I really feel for you. I was avoiding this video when I saw it come up yesterday. With a bunch of friends sending me this vid with the tag summed up to say "you gotta watch this" I can now see why. I was also bucked off my demo Kove 450. Not a wash, but an ATV rut. I broke 4 ribs, cracked two, ruptured my spleen, bruised my lungs and generally shook the crap out of my innards. Was a 4 hr rescue, including a helicopter long line ride, then another 2hrs to a bigger hospital and surgery. I've been restricted to desk duty for 6 months. I am a lifer, so I will be back in the spring riding again. Until then it is time to brush up on my CAD/CAM skills and make more parts for Kove's and others. Best of luck on your recovery.

Sorry that happened and hope everything mends fully.. I did something similar on my KLX 250 in Logandale, NV .. my husband cruised right through a sketchy sandy wash (most of that place is sand anyway) and I ended up on my backside, out of sorts in a scrub bush with a couple of broken ribs.. but even though I was able to hold things together to ride it back to the truck (stupid big ego), I was majorly disappointed in myself and ended up selling that bike because of it.
I would never wish any of these crashes on anyone, but for super experienced riders like yourself to post this kind of content really helps folks like me feel like we aren't just out of our element. I've ridden everything there is on the street for 40+ years, but only have about 10 hours out on the dirt and guess I just have unreasonable expectations... I'm back to basics and have a TDUB now () but have still been a bit guarded.. your video has me encouraged to get back out there.
Cheers to you and random videos that pop up on the interwebs!

So sorry man. I did a 4-part proximal fracture to my humerus earlier this year too. I won't lie, the recovery in the beginning sucked. My best advice is to do the PT man. Get back at it as soon as you possibly can. Work on your range of motion and get the massage stuff done. You're gonna be weak and it's going to feel like you aren't making progress, and then all the sudden it gets better quickly. Keep you chin up, focus on the positivity and keep at it. This too shall pass. It's been 10 months since my injury and I'm as strong as I've ever been. You will be too.

I honestly think that both the game plan and the rates of a BnB type, design your route rent a bike is a great setup. My wife and I are doing something similar this year in Scotland . Beat of luck and I hope I can come ride with/stay with/rent from you soon!

Get well man, the interesting part of this is my buddy was scheduled for your rally in November, told me a few weeks back it was rescheduled due to this and that there might be open spots for next year so...might try to join in myself. Your rally's look like a blast.

So sorry to see this Tyler. I hope you are healing well and fast. Its always smart to be thinking ahead and have a backup plan or even things to add to your income stream. It's a great area and I suggest anyone take you up on the offer of your place. Best part is that there is a Dutch Brothers a block away ;-) Tons of paved trails in town if you are into e-bikes or even Onewheeling. Cheers and take care. I appreciate what you do and add to the community!

    Get well soon bro.
I was hit by a car on my 790R in 2020, busted my left collarbone and scapula along with all ribs on my left side. Luckily I didn't suffer floating shoulder and was back to work in the office after 3 weeks. I was fortunate the crash didn't leave me with any permanent damage, I very much hope for the same good outcome in your case.

Long time follower from Morocco here 🇲🇦 Riding Enduro here intensely for a couple of years now I had my fair share of crashes and bruises.
I've struggled with similar mental issues as well.
First of all thank god it wasn't worse. We've seen people die falling at those speeds. God bless you and protect your family.
I just wanted to share something that really helped me flip the script when it came to my mental health and the patterns I got used to for so many years.
When I hear you speak i feel you're putting so much pressure on yourself almost to the point of sabotaging your well being and your business !
You have unseen levels of Work ethics and morals in general, but when used incorrectly, these amazing engines of Progress and Virtue can work against you.
If you Focus on the result nothing you'll do will even be enough to stand up to your values and to the Hero/savior/prophet like mentality that God has blessed you with.
Instead what saved me personally is to focus on the process. Enjoy the perfection in every moment, forget the outcome (and the income).
It's a hard thing to do when you're wired for Perfection and Performance but you'll always fall short of your expectations when you put so much pressure on yourself. The coping mechanism that we often use it to victimize ourselves, say that we have so much bad luck, that everyone is against us, that we don't have the means to fulfill our Ambition.
Start with destroying any ambition or any desired outcome, instead focus on the small steps. Your morning routine, you health habits (sleep, eat, rest), the moments you shared with your loved ones. Try to back engineer your dreams from the smaller steps possible.
I really root for you man.
Get well soon and come ride with us in the amazing sceneries we have here in Morocco. Check out my (very) amateur videos on my channel you can really see how beautiful some of the places are.
And who knows maybe one day we'll have this discussion over a cup of Moroccan MinTea looking back at our struggling past selves

Keep your head up and stay positive. God Bless you on your journey through this tough time and this world on fire. I too had two crashes in two of my last three outings on dirt bikes. Both times, wearing all of the gear as you were. Both times on the right side, separated some ribs on one and deep gashes in the elbow on the second one (even though I had chest, elbow and shoulder pads on). No broken bones though, so although I came out in a great deal of pain, virtually unscathed, I feel your pain and have you in my prayers for healthy mind and speedy recovery!

The darkness in the world does seem to be closing in, but there are those out there who still let their light shine. The great thing about light and dark is that no matter how encompassing the dark gets, if there is just a little light, even the tiniest bit, darkness cannot exist in the presence of that light. It will surround it, to be sure, but it cannot exist within the reach of that light. When you look for those lights, when you surround yourself with that light, such as with those of this small little community that has been created by this channel and by the tours, then it does not matter how much darkness is out there, there will always be at least a glimmer of light to reside in.
Wishing you the best in your recovery.
