Much like my British Blue when he was alive, when they're washed, they're actually quite skinny. Goes to show how plush/thick their fur is.

When I had a cat I would only do this about twice a year. I use less tub water a bucket a cup. I use the cup to pour water on the cat for wetting and rinsing. I use less tub water so I can soap their paws and belly.

The furminator is for deshedding. If you want to get matts out, you can try using a plastic comb (so it has some flex, and doesn't rip the fur out), or a quiet hair trimmer. Both options go over well with my cats.

Oh yeah, that’s right; you don’t get frequent rain storm in which your cat gets caught in and then comes back looking like a drowned rat which I towel dry. I also use the Furminator de-shedding brush

I've only given my big chunks one bath, did a similar technique with the pre-filled bath, since Peter is a very large thing I was worried about managing her from outside the tub, so I just held her and sat in the bath. She didn't love it, but she didn't fight at all and was just a dejected big wet fuzz. I thought I was going to get hurt for it but no, just sadgirl cries.
She actually wasn't angry with me at all after and spent the rest of the day proudly re-cleaning herself on the bed beside my desk. An exceptionally good fluff
Day 1 update: Basil appears to be doing pushups
Day 40 update: Basil basil went from 50kg to 50kg but now he's all muscle
Day 45 update: Basil has started digging hole in the back garden

Basil looks like a normal cat when soaked, while normal cats look like one of those poor hairless abominations.

I find it easier to use a plastic cup to rinse the cat off and get them wet on their back and head. It works well for rinsing too.

I used to have a cat that would get in the bathtub with me and swim around. Her name was Mooshka and she loved to swim.

You might have to start a Basil & Lemon Instagram. We bathed our old cat around every 2-3 months. Used the on/off shower head, wrapped her in a towel and blow dried afterward. Then she would clean herself for hours afterward and cough up big hairballs for a couple days. She hated it until it didn't happen. We moved in a short period and she didn't get a bath for almost 6 months. One day she just jumped in the tub and waited. Of course she complained the whole time then as well.

Preparing to bathe my cat includes suture kits, gauze, hemostatic agents and coming to grips with the fact I will suffer massive blood loss.
I mean, I always just wore thick long sleeves while bathing my nearly 10 kilo Siamese, but I guess if I had zero foresight whatsoever then your method would probably have been my method, too...

sometimes they get matts that form due to food spillage in areas they cant reach, which actually would require shaving or intensive brushing to remove. A very occasional bath sets a lot of that stuff right
