a cat review... if I could review my cat, I would share how many things he has broken in my apt. I still love him. It's an abusive relationship (I'm the victim) lol
Same. I had two amazing smart mischievous boys. I had them 18 and 20 years. Haven’t wanted any more after them. My review of their life would include lots of destroyed property and jealousy peeing. My older boy would pee on my ex husbands stuff all the time and he got diabetes. He would never cooperate with being on a diet and would aggressively steal food. My other boy was an escape artist who’d scare me by disappearing for a day or two after escape but come back and smack at the door to come back in. He also loved singing at 2-3am followed by a loud barf. They were both high maintenance cats.
I find that almost every male British short hair cat is just like Basil. We used to have one but he sadly died :( now we have three female ones and they are not even nearly as friendly as the male ones have been for me. I would personally recommend getting a male British short hair :D
My mum just got her second Brit, after the last one passed away just a few weeks shy of 16 years old. These guys have a TON of personality and quirks, although we can already notice massive differences between her old and new brit. The old loved peace and quiet and wouldn't sit in your lap if you'd watch TV with anything audible going on. The new one will go to sleep right next to a stereo blasting loud music and sleep so soundly you have to poke him to check if he's still alive.
Mine was a wonderful british long hair. A mix between a british and a persian. We had him for 3 years but he passed away recently due to an accident. My parents have always been interested in britishes, that's one of the reasons we got him since we're living in an apartment unit. It'll probably be a long time for us to consider getting one again(it has been 4 days) but I commend both of you and your mother for being strong enough to welcome a new member. Best of luck.
I got one after watching your video. Absolutely love him! He is 3 months old now and he's as large as an average street cat. Even the vet is amazed that a 3 months old cat almost look like an adult. Since they have the same eyes, every British shorthair seem to have the same soul. I see my cat in other people"s British shorthair.
the relationships these cats have particularly with children is really special. great temperaments and extremely patient. i think all children should be raised with pets in the house where possibly. i'm so glad my parents always had dogs and cats around when i was growing up.
I've had three shorties and they're the best. My first cat was a Basil too. He's beautiful, maybe a bit too big if you don't mind me saying, just like my Basil! BSH's are a bit prone to being overweight, especially being an indoor cat. I'd cut back on his food a little gradually to help his overall health as he's still a young cat. Enjoy your beautiful boy. I'm usually a dog guy, cause most cats I've met were pretty distanced, if not hostile. But this cuddly grey furball would make a great addition the cuddly black furball I already have (bulldog). British shorthairs are exactly like bulldogs, you're so right. Never thought of that. I'm a cat person but I would bring a bulldog home any day. They're so gentle and chill.
I have 3 cats, 2 British shorthairs, and one tabby. There all EXTREMELY old. The tabby is 21 and the 2 brits are 12 and 15. After having them for so long, I would indeed say they are the best cat breed.

Basil is such a cute cat! You can really see how happy and content he is :) I also looove the thick fluffy fur British short hairs have, there is nothing alike. When you pick them up your hands basically sink into the huge amounts of fur, it’s amazing!
I owned a British blue just like this one he was less chonky tho, he died of blather and kidney problems he became 10 years old i never met such a intelligent human like animal ever in my life. Its like a 5 year old boy in a cat body but then extremely relaxed and alpha. I miss him still everyday
Ain't no way around it, the idea of reviewing a cat or any pet/loved one is just cringey. My intention is not to troll, but for me and atleast 150 other people, this title was an epic fail. #CHOICES
I love Basil! I had one named Bubba that blessed me with 10 awesome years (I lost him to cancer). He looked just like Basil. They have amazing personalities. And they are incredibly intelligent too!! Bubba could sit, roll over, and sit up on command; only for food of course XD. He also figured out how to flush the toilet. His favorite thing was to unroll toilet paper and flush the toilet. Then dash across the house at high speed. I miss him. Much love from Texas!
I have 2 British shorthairs and they are the chillest cats my friends have ever seen. People always think they're massively obese but all British shorthairs have a flabby pouch of skin that hangs by their back feet. Such sweeties
I agree that temperament is the key to why British Shorthairs are lovely. My two basically follow me everywhere, especially Mokey Cat the Blue. He was on the bed when I woke, lay on my desk by my keyboard all day when I worked and then moved to the couch beside me in the evening. This louche cat is a constant cute companion, often flat on his back, legs akimbo. My temperament is closer to Malcolm Tucker, bad tempered Scot, so god knows why they're drawn to me...
My cat is a British Shorthair mix, she's 15 years old and got a bit of arthritis in her hips, but is otherwise in really good condition! Hopefully I've got a few more years with her, she's a lovely cat.:)
I have 2- twins called Fred and George- they cost a small fortune but they're the prettiest boys, they're going to be huge- they're only 5 months old and the size of a regular cat. They're super calm, cuddly and affectionate. They've never bit or hissed or growled, they're so happy to be handled and cuddled like babies - something else I noticed is that whenever we have guests round they're at the door, and want to be involved. Everybody comments on how friendly they are. Xxxxx
Male Brits are the absolute bestest cats (!) As you can see in this video . . . you can handle them a lot and they're not only okay with it but even enjoy the attention. One thing: it's true that they are great family cats . . . IF they grow up in a family. But they're also very loyal to just ONE person . . . if that is the situation they grow up in. My four year old (second Brit that I've had . . .) and I have always lived alone with rare visits from outsiders. And he's not too enamored of visitors . . .
My British Shorthair cats were left alone a lot by their previous owner, but they're very good with strangers and the male hates being handled too much. You can't pick him up since he's too strong and he can get moany if you touch him too roughly, but he very rarely lashes out and has never really scratched me, only hissed an batted at me. The female is very small and I'm super rough with her but she always comes back for me. The only problem is her nails are too long so if you're not careful she can accidentally graze you. She literally doesn't know how to hiss or growl and is very vocal. Not aggressive at all whatsoever, yet all of my scratches are still from her due to her claws accidentally hooking. I love my babies.
5:17 I like how the cat is trying to be friendly with the Husky and the husky gets scared when he brush on him and then the cat get scared and turns to look at him. super cute cat I would love to have this cat if i had a house of my own.

Was going to adopt a stray kitten but realized they would have clashed too much with my older kitty. So thank you for this informative video! I hope my new kitty will grow up showing as much affection as your Basil!
A little big for daily carry? We had a ragdoll cat. She was the runt of her litter and never weighed much more than 3kg. She was a fairly typical cat in the sense that everything had to be on her terms, and most of the time she had little interest in physical contact, but she was also well behaved & never jumped people or anything like that. Generally she would either be sleeping or hyperactive, whereas Basil seems to like to waddle around a lot kinda like a dog. Ragdolls are known for being pretty floppy when picked up & I guess that was true although she would get annoyed & squirm free pretty quickly. She had a lot of kidney trouble later in life which could cause her pain & she had to be put down suddenly after developing a blood clot in her kidneys that moved to her brain
She was 12 I think, so she had a good run. I was never close to her most of her life but in her old age she started to sleep on my lap all day every day until she suddenly wasn't there anymore. I couldn’t recommend this breed enough. Mine have amazing personalities, are affectionate to the point of actually being more dog like and don’t have a nasty streak that most cats do. Even vet trips where they’re in pain they don’t lash out. Basically BSH are just big fat silly cuddly bears 😍
He is Gorgeous! My sis has one, named Ash, that is the spitting image of your Basil. He loves Rachael Ray dry food , salmon and rice, I think. When I was a kid I had a british blue named Winston, he was a bit of an asshole! Loved barbecued sausages. Made it to 18 years old! Miss him lots
How many years did he live?
"It's so fluffy i'm gonna die" moment for me ❤😂
Here doing my duty trying to get Pete a video with a million views. 🤘🏼😼🤘🏼
Goodness, Basil’s human really took that Squish That Cat advice!
why does my brain translate your cat as a giant bluecheeze flavoured bread dough
I know without looking that I'm not the first to ask this: I see Basil is left or right side carry, but what about tip down/up? Oh, and I really enjoyed this review. The blanket Christmas present is an awesome thing. Now you have me thinking.
It was a BigW photos job, but it makes me laugh with the dumb christmas hats every time
So handsome!!!! Great looking cat!
How many times can Basil cut twisted sisal rope with a 17* mirror polish edge before he is unable to cut paper?
I’m picking my baby basil up in 3 days it was yours videos that helped make my mind up on which breed to own . Thank you 🙏🏻
best wishes for a wonderful life with kitty 😀😀
Basil is like "I have better things to do"
I couldn’t recommend this breed enough. Mine have amazing personalities, are affectionate to the point of actually being more dog like and don’t have a nasty streak that most cats do. Even vet trips where they’re in pain they don’t lash out.
Basically BSH are just big fat silly cuddly bears 😍
Mine isnt very affectionate and never cuddles netiher comes for pets, is that normal for that breed? :(
He is Gorgeous! My sis has one, named Ash, that is the spitting image of your Basil. He loves Rachael Ray dry food , salmon and rice, I think. And a few bites of wet here and there throughout the day. He talks alot. And taps her arm when he needs more food in the wet food bowl! May Basil bless your life with great joy and y'all with his!
I’m so glad this came up on my recommended videos. I already wanted a British shorthair, now I have to have one ASAP
