Depends entirely. I've heard illegal exhausts that sound like absolute garbage and I've heard legal exhausts that sounded wonderful. It depends on the engine, the car and the exhaust manifold ontop of the actual exhaust itself. Bonus point for Cold air intake, turbo/SC noise and an intake manifold that complements the airflow of the exhaust manifold
Exhausts are quite literally like instruments, just slapping on a bigger endpiece on a trombone will make it louder, sure, but it will also make imperfections more obvious and sometimes even obnoxious. If you want a really good sounding exhaust, you simply have to look further than just the exhaust itself. The entire airflow system combines into the beautiful sound of the engine, it's why cars like the Lexus LFA sound so amazing. You could slap the same exhaust on any V10 and it wouldn't sound the same.

It is stock, the Cupra Formentor has the Golf R engine. And in the special driving mode called "Cupra Mode" it does sound like that. I know because my dad has one lol

In europe you can get this with a 390hp 2.5l 5 Cylinder engine, same as in the Audi RS3. Don´t know if you can buy them in the us, it`s only 7000 cars
