Sam the amount of work you put into this is incredible. If you've never done it, bathroom renovations can be extremely time consuming and this looks incredible - of course and obviously you have the best dad ever to help out with this! One thing many may not realize is that bathrooms are always a tight space and it can definitely slow down your progress as you can constantly crash into each other if you're not careful! Be safe Sam!

I’ve been where you are. Gutting a bathroom and completely redoing it is exhausting. It seems that at every turn there’s something new to learn or research which makes an already exhausting job that much more exhausting. So. Much. Work. Congrats on a beautiful bathroom. Never feel bad about asking for help. You do what you’ve gotta do to get the job done. All the work that you and your dad did was fantastic and you should be very proud.

Having retiled three bathrooms in my house with my wife, I can relate to a lot of this video. I do regret not putting one or two additional shower heads in one of the showers, but am happy with how everything else turned out. And we were really glad when they were all finally done. Love the large tiles. I know at the time you already sloped the shower floor but they make long thin drains that only require sloping one direction. I'm doing a wet bath at my house and am installing a long drain
As a psychologist, I'm sure you've advised your clients to stop being hard in themselves, you need to apply this to yourself. I can't believe you can do everything you have and still keep your head up...You are amazing! I envy you're skills and abilities but more so now that you've shown us viewers that you are human and asked for help. I'm so proud of you for taking that step. I struggled for years to ask for help and I suffered so much because of it..still find it difficult but I really do try. Great work beautiful!!
Asking for help is something I struggle with massively. It is really courageous of you to admit for just this you need help & even though you don't want it you are open to getting help.
you CAN use large format tiles in the shower pan. You would just have to make 4 diagonal cuts where the drain will be and use the same colour grout to hide the cuts. Or leave it, as it does look kinda cool.
I can be bad asking for help, but I’ve learned to do so with my dad. Who I also feel guilty of always asking for help. I live alone, and I just can’t always do everything on my own. Some things simply take more than one person.
The bathroom looks AMAZING! It was nice before, but you (and your dad) made it a top notch bathroom! I know you had a number of challenges to overcome with the renovation, but it certainly was worth it. Congratulations on an outstanding transformation. You will be able to enjoy the fruits of your labor for years to come.

The bathroom turned out great! I love the herringbone design on the shower wall. It adds a nice geometric touch to the bathroom. The installer did a great job. It was definitely the right call to get some help. Sometimes that's just what you have to do. You were still able to do the vast majority of the project yourself and it looks fantastic!
Don’t be so hard on yourself, Sam. I’ve only seen incredibly experienced tilers tile a shower floor. The rest of us just buy a prefab Solid Surface pan. The result you got is definitely worth it. Good on you for being the good project manager you are and filling your project team with consummate professionals; you and your dad included!

I learned to refer to the two basic types of screwdrivers as a Positive Screwdriver (Phillips Head) and a Negative Screwdriver (Flathead Screwdriver, Emergency Prybar).
I am renovating my whole basement right now, and 😶. This video hit home. So many things have gone wrong and so many things have gone right. It’s nice to know that other people are going through the same thing. What you said about asking for help is something that I have been going through myself. This video was so wholesome, and I can’t wait to see the finished product!

Oh Sam. I resonate with your journey in this video so much. I had really been struggling for a long time, and got diagnosed with ADHD a few months ago (at 36, never too late lol). I am also a perfectionist and highly independent to a fault (hey there, trauma response). One thing I really had to learn for myself is that my time and energy are so valuable, and my peace can’t be risked by trying to do too much. I’m better off knowing a lot about a little than a little about a lot, because I can really focus and hone my skills. Asking for help does NOT make you a fraud, it makes you human. That being said, THIS BATHROOM IS GORGEOUS. No matter who did what step, it was all your vision and would not look this way if it weren’t for you. Proud of you for helping yourself keep your peace. I haven’t finished to see the reveal yet, but… My husbands company, and I’m sure many others, cut larger floor tiles in a way you can slope the floor in towards the drain. For example, if a client wants larger tiles he cuts the squares into two triangles and these can be manipulated into proper slopes. Hope this is helpful

It turned out gorgeous Sam. I have never done a reno but have seen plenty of videos to know just how time consuming they can be and how things usually don't go to plan. You handled it well. I do have one question though. Where is the toilet roll holder? I didn't see one being installed.
What a journey!! The part where tiles failed on you not just once but twice that's the kind of moment you start to doubt yourself and think, am I even good enough to do this, but you handled it like a champ and I learned from you is that it's ok to ask for help and it's ok to be easy on yourself, so congrats the bathroom looks fabulous and good luck for the other projects, great video and great edit too 💯
I'm just at the shower floor part - thank you for including this! Just as a heads up, we normally spec really small tiles, or cut the tiles really small, for exactly this reason. One of those things you don't know until it bites you and wrecks the plan. The bathroom looks amazing, and you're giving me all the hope I can do this myself one day soon!!

It turned out gorgeous Sam. I have never done a reno but have seen plenty of videos to know just how time consuming they can be and how things usually don't go to plan. You handled it well.
I do have one question though. Where is the toilet roll holder? I didn't see one being installed.

The part where tiles failed on you not just once but twice that's the kind of moment you start to doubt yourself and think, am I even good enough to do this, but you handled it like a champ and I learned from you is that it's ok to ask for help and it's ok to be easy on yourself, so congrats the bathroom looks fabulous and good luck for the other projects, great video and great edit too 💯

I'm just at the shower floor part - thank you for including this! Just as a heads up, we normally spec really small tiles, or cut the tiles really small, for exactly this reason. One of those things you don't know until it bites you and wrecks the plan. The bathroom looks amazing, and you're giving me all the hope I can do this myself one day soon!!
