Alot of guys dont like the idea about redoing a trailer deck but theres alot of trailers for cheap that can be redone for a quarter price of a new one.
Midwest Allis Acres yeah there is, we got a bumper pull car hauler with a bent axel and a rotted deck for basically scrap price . We put new 7k axels under it and a new deck and its a great trailer.
Looks good! It isn't the funnest job, but having a nice deck surface is worth the effort. I did my 20' car hauler a few months back. I mostly haul hay with it, so I gave the boards an 1/8" gap so the chaff wouldn't get in between the boards and rot them. It feels good every time I look at it now! Ha ha
Denny's Country Life Thanks, it wasn’t bad. I did the same on our horse trailer because who ever did it before didn’t gap them so the rotted not being able to dry.
Nice work. About to re-floor mine. Never thought about finding a saw mill to use. Perfect! I will be doing that for sure! Question. Did yall treat it at all? I was told of an old trick, to treat it with diesel. I think there is truth in this. We buy and sell heavy equipment. The only good spots left are where oil and fuel have spilled. Haha! Thoughts, ask your old man. Thanks for sharing this video!
No we didn’t treat it but there is oil and diesel on it from stuff leaking. Maybe get a little bucket of some fuel and a paint brush and paint the diesel on probably help repel water

Oak wood cut at a sawmill. If you have any sawmills around you they could cut you some probably

How thick was the board?
2inches mostly a few just a hair over. I wish I had a planer I’d of ram them through first but maybe next time I’ll buy one.
