      Yes, it is great result. But the car is like new. The original milage is less than 30.000 miles.

      i timed mine 0 to 60mph it took 13 seconds mine as the 400 motor but 128000 miles

    Hi I'm from Germany. Congratulation to this flawless beauty. In 1974 my father bought a Ford LTD with the same 460 cui powertrain. It was the most comfy, quiet and reliable car my family ever had!🎉

    Is this in republic of Cyprus? In Larnica, around the time this car was made, they had these curved mirrors which were excellent for blind spot intersections.

    I get so sick of guys saying how slow these cars were. At the time they did just fine. All cars were sluggish in the late 70s! The Mark's did the job they were meant to do, and they did it in silence.

    The massive 400 and 460 cubic inch engines used in the Mark V were ridiculously low in horsepower. The 460V only had 208 HP, for instance. But they could accelerate like this because they had huge torque.

      460 unfortunately was not mount on this car in 1979... Only 400...

      @@googleusergp I had heard through the grapevine that it was possible to still special order a 460 in the '79 Lincolns. I know they were never offered as an option after '78. Remember the 460 had just dropped in the big Fords and Mercurys as well as Lincolns, so it is a possibility there may have been a few ordered by people

      @@1983jblack No official record of that. If so, they would be very late 1978s. They didn't meet 1979 emission standards more than likely and that's why they were dropped. They surely wouldn't have met 1980 standards.

      The 400 is basically a tall deck 351 Cleveland. Up the compression, give it some good quench chamber heads and a 4 barrel carb and they are beast, especially when you compare the size to a 460.

    That dashboard looks like comparable to a modern rolls-Royce, because of that quality!

      Really I like tachometer... But this car equipped with automatic 3-gears transmission... Tachometer is not very important here...

      @@jpcodnia9133 Dude, back then that was a sign of modern, high-quality class. From the late 70's to the 80's if a car wasn't built out of squares and rectangles it was considered old fashioned

      I think you’re confusing quality with style. Modern interiors are built with better quality materials and fit/finish, closer gap tolerances and more solid to prevent noises.But this Lincoln’s interior is stylish, arguably more than today’s cars.

      @@brianhechinger6726 Have a look 🙂: in 1979 they used natural wood, natural leather and now all materials looks like New. But on the modern cars they use fake leather, fake wood... And after 5 years seats look terrible. Roof - terrible... Wood - terrible. So, I mean not only style, I mean quality. Sorry for my English... And if You drive Lincoln You will see it is less noisy than many New cars, OK, excepting cars like New Mercedes S-class 🙂

      It’s a lovely car for sure and my parents had a 78 DJE with a 460 4V and dad a 79 Bill Blass 400 2V. The 79 pulled it’s weight but wasn’t really a fast car. But the 78 could do 0-60 when tuned right in about 8.5 sec which for late 70s to early 80s is quick. Remember back then many cars even V8s took 11-15 sec to get to 60 mph!!
      FYI The “wood “ in ALL Mark Vs is definitely plastic NOT REAL! I’m not sure how it could be taken as real wood??? I still own a 70 Mark lll and Thst most definitely has real wood on the doors and dash.

    I had a 73 Chrysler Newport w 400 2 barrel and that car would go 0 to 60 under 8.5 seconds that is incredible for a car that is 19 feet long with a 2 barrel carb and even a slight hesitation on the take off

      Mr Anderson oh that was stock alright I have one did the same thing I was surprised too considering the horsepower is only 159 to 160 you put dual exhaust Accord catalytic converters you're probably get about 170 horsepower

      Agreed. Listen to the engine. Definitely a few things were done, the surge in speed is not like that of a stock Mark V. Sure they had a lot of torque, but no way they could haul ass like that

      This car sounds like fuel injected and not stock. Sorry dont make stories. Owner of mark iv here. The stock doesnt pick that fast like a 2000 car.

    This sounds like the 2011 town car but more deep pitched, it must of been a different transmission because the engine sounds similar, but what do I know?

      Completely different generations for both engine and transmission in a 2011 and 1979. Lincoln made their cars pretty quiet no matter what was in them from the 1950s-90s

    Maybe the emission equipment has been deleted from the engine. Europe in 1979 had no emission regs. No catalytic converter and from sound of it a dual exhaust fitted.

    Sometimes I couldn’t understand why speedometers on cars in the late 1970s went only up to 80-85 mph. I know cars then didn’t have high horsepower like the late 60s, but I know they’re capable of going at least 100 mph!

      In September of 1979, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) passed a bill which stated that all car, pickup truck and motorcycle speedometers were to display a maximum speed of 85 miles-per-hour. This U.S. federal regulation also required speedometers to have a special emphasis on the number 55 (the national speed limit at the time).

      And the critics say it was a dinky engine I think there were wrong just because it's on paper does not mean it performs that way yours performed perfectly and mine performs exactly the same I added the iridium spark plugs and it made a big difference I added the dual exhaust and made another big difference I put new hoses all and that made a big difference and put the best spark plug wires and that made a big difference I use mobile one gas and that made even a bigger difference wow I hope you enjoy your Lincoln Mark 5 for many years.

      Тянет отлично, никакого дискомфорта, фору даст любой современной малолитражке. Не рулится, едет как корабль. Расход - приличный. Больше 30 это точно.
