    My dad too ,recently had an amputation because of diabetes. I work in a different country and because of this pandemic I have not been able to go home and see him. Watching this video just broke my heart. I cried thinking of my own dad and what hes going through 💔😔

    My 82 yr old father is facing amputation and his life is in peril.
    He didn't eat a lot of sugar but consumed a lot of fatty rich meats. I am so scared and depressed for him and our family. Please watch what you eat, it's not worth it. 😔🙏🙏

    I had type two diabetes but then I did intermittent fasting and lost 74kgs i stop eating sweets cakes biscuits fast food anything sweet I don’t have diabetes now but I’m always aware that if I don’t keep an eye on what I eat then I will be back to square one. Much love to Brian an his Whanau.

    I have treated so many patients as a DPT, who have so many complications, and/or amputations. Several I have encountered, unfortunately look at it as a foreign body, or like losing hair when a limb or appendage is amputated, and keep the same lifestyle, despite there being options and support for change.
    All I can do is educate, encourage, and reinforce a healthier lifestyle, including exercise.

      It needs to be the right kind of support though. Its not just about lifestyle, diet and exercise. Support is needed to overcome some of the barriers that prevent those changes being made.

      It’s so hard to change the bad habits. I want my parents to eat better but they themselves keep buying junk food... no matter what I say or what the doctors or whoever educate them they refuse to change! :(

      ​@AverageAufa Pray to The Most High Elohim for your parents. Ask HIM to give them a new heart and renew a right spirit within them.
      Tell your parents how much they mean to you. Let them know in a loving gentle way that you care for their health and you need for them to be around as long as The Heavenly Father will allow.

    My mother and all my siblings have been morbidly obese since the early teens. I’ve never been overweight. I didn’t like eating so much food all the time. My mother always tried to get me to eat seconds like everyone else at the table, but I was full so I didn’t. She always made jokes about me being unhealthy, or that she was concerned for me. At 17 I was 5,10 152 lbs, I’m also a male. I’m 37 now around the same weight. The last time I spoke to my family my two year older brother wasn’t treating his diabetes, he had multiple eye surgeries, untreated sleep apnea and so on. He was fired from multiple jobs because he wold show up an hour late because he was “asleep” the alarms on full blast couldn’t wake him. The last time I saw him he was sitting a few inches in front of his television because he couldn’t see the screen while a family size pizza was cooking. This was in 2016. I haven’t seen or spoke to any of my family members sense. I could stomach being around them for as long as I could. I couldn’t take the slim jokes and jabs all the time. While any talk of their weight would get me cut off from them for months at a time. I was the problem, not all of their poor choices. Looking back on it all, I realize my mother was pathological and actively destroyed all of her children’s lives on purpose. It’s sick and twisted. I eventually leaned that my situation wasn’t all that uncommon. Jealous, mean, pathological, narcissistic people shouldn’t have kids. My mother wasn’t happy with herself or her life and wasn’t about to have any of her children look better, be more healthy, or be more successful than her.

    I don't know the price of fast food in NZ, but here in Europe Mcdonald, Bürger King, KFC is VERY expensive.

    Its way more than sugar and "junk food", though! I cant BELIEVE that you showed the daughter bringing her dad oranges like its healthy! ORANGES ARE NOTHING BUT SUGAR! You can get more Vit.C from veggies! People dont understand that carbs are sugar, too!

    I've had it about eleven years. I'm not very good at it either. I do ok food wise, it's the pop that really gets me. Love it.

      You can substitute those deathly sugary drinks with flavored water or even club soda if it's the seltzer that you're addicted to. I think if you knew just how much sugar is in one can of soda, it would blow your mind to make you never touch it again.

    The problem we (I included) don't feel sick, don't feel pain, don't see anything wrong with our bodies (other than overweight) to try and do something about our diabetes. It's a slow progressing damage so we don't notice the harm until the damage has shown up. And yet we don't recognize the seriousness until limbs or sight is being lost. By then it's too late. It's a shame we tend to put our bodies to the test.

      You have no excuse. I found I was insulin resistant and prediabetic, I immediately made big changes, like minimal fluffy carbs and increased my excercise. Resolved the diabetes onset. There is no fate but what we make. Unless your genes are screwed, of course.

    A plant-based, whole-foods diet as well as exercise can help manage or even reverse Type 2 diabetes. I was a pescatarian when I was diagnosed seven years ago. I am now a vegan. I cut out all added sugar, and greatly reduced my alcohol intake. I make sure I eat a variety of fruits and vegetables. I get regular exercise. I've gone from 195 to 175 pounds. It is simple, but not easy. You have a whole culture trying to convince you to eat poorly, to give into temptation. I primarily blame the food industry. At the same time, it does require conscious choices to eater healthy and stay active. Shaming oneself or others is not productive. But the more you do it, the better you feel, and the easier it is to follow a healthier lifestyle.

      The key is calorie restriction, which can be done with any diet paradigm. (Some easier than others)

    I'm a type 2 diabetic and I just lost my Big Toe I just hope and pray that I don't have to have any more parts of my body removed it scares me to death and it seems like the most difficult part of me losing my Big Toe is the Mental part of it as far as the Physical part of it, Goes I haven't had a whole lot of trouble out of it Except for the pain it has been really horrible pain

May Your Holy Spirit bring him/her comfort and I pray that You will provide to him/her Your peace that surpasses all human understanding. Oh Holy Father of Abraham, Issac, and Jacob, come and touch him/her from the top of his/her head to the soles of his/her feet in Yahshua's name, amein.
      I've had type 2 now for eight years now. So far, I haven't had any complications. Every day, I have to try not to let my mind get worried about any health problems that might arise in the future. The word of Elohim says Do not fear or be afraid. He will not fail you nor forsake you. Deuteronomy 31: 6 and Psalm 91:5 thou shall not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flierh by day.
      Psalm 91 is a prayer of protection. Meditate on the words of that psalm day and night. Let it resonate in your heart. Remember all His promises are yes and amein. He loves you and He has a plan and purpose for your life. Call unto thee and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not. Jeremiah 33: 3.

    Do annual physicals and blood work. Do intermittent fasting and keep carbs down to almost zero grams per day. Do moderate exercise, and stay low stress in life. Get proper nutrients through proper food digestion and vitamin supplements. Fructose is a killer when we get older so watch the fruit after 40.
    Brians story broke my heart, this is happening every day to some other family’s all around the world. It’s sad and it doesn’t have to end this way, reverse the diabetes people!!

    Diabetics around the world, please just give the Keto diet a try. Even if it's for a couple weeks, you may find healing through this lifestyle.

      Some blame the food industry. Some blame their poor food choices. I say it starts at birth. Parents are responsible for being an example of how their children are supposed to eat healthily.

    5:35. The biggest risk factor for diabetes...type 2...is obesity. It's not just sugar. It's what comes with the sugar...oils and fats in all of the processed foods. Carbohydrates in fruits veggies and the like is healthy. People don't get diabetes from eating apples or even potatoes...it's the oil, bacon fat, sour cream fat, butter that's added to the potatoes that makes people obese. The fat stored in the muscle cells and the liver prevent the cells from being able to store the glucose. We really need better nutrition education on diabetes because many people think an orange is bad because it has sugar...but that's not the case. It's all the fat in the cells mucking up insulin receptors

      This is true for the "skinny fat" people, too. That visceral fat and the excess fat in the liver and muscle cells prevent the insulin receptors from letting the blood glucose into the cells to be stored as glucose.

      And the 80% of ppl with diabetes being obese quoted is for all types of diabetes. For type 2 diabetes the percent of people who are overweight is around 90%

      It’s the carbs. Lower your carb intake, you lower your blood sugar, and you lose weight. Keto no longer burns carbs for energy, but fat. It’s amazing how well it works when diabetic educators are telling people to eat 45 carbs at meals and 15 carbs for snacks.

    I am a 48 years old type 1 diabetic, epilepsy,and recently diagnosed with Parkinson's. Guess what? I don't give a damn what inflictions I have. I still work out daily,bench pressing over 300 lbs,and am a slim 195. You can let it control you or you can kick it's ass and become better than ever. It's all in the mind. The subconscious mind cannot take a joke. If you tell yourself you can't do something, guess what the result will be 100% of the time. You will remain a slave to diabetes rather than become it's master. It's really just that simple. Sure it takes hard work. Anything in life worth having comes with a price. It's simply whether or not you pay it!

    So let's make the world a better place (which we currently are). I've seen changes, but we have to work HARDER! Yea, it won't happen over night. Let's try to minimize these unhealthy fast food places, and the processed food in markets. I'm no expert. Just my opinion. 😉 But all that has learn/learned/learnt comes from those who taught us.     VISCERAL fat that gets into the liver, pancreas and kidneys is the major factor in some obese people becoming diabetic - along with genes, etc.
    That's why you have some obese people but with what's called SUBCUTANEOUS fat and this type of fat just accumulates under the skin without getting into the liver, etc. Those obese people with subcutaneous fat don't become diabetic.

    I’m prediabetic with almost no symptoms leading me to believe if I get diabetes it will be type 2. I was doing ok managing prediabetes but I eventually became more stressed and now I’m waiting for results.

      It's a toxin. The only thing our bodies can do with it, is to turn it into fat. We did not evolve to eat added sugars.

    Ok diabetes is NOT preventable…..TO A POINT. YES, diet and exercise are a HUGE part of preventing it. Massive ! But sometimes, it can be genetic . And a good diet must start with children when they’re young. In my opinion, that’s where we must start, with our children when they’re young. And if you are diagnosed with it…it’s not a diet you go on, it’s a lifestyle change . And it can be done, it’s been done. Remember, you have loved ones wanting you here with them

    Eating right and healthy isn't the problem,,, the problem is how to AFFORD to eat healthy?
    It's so expensive to buy the right healthy foods compared to the non healthy foods

      It May seem so but it doesn't have to be. Beans lentils potatoes frozen veggies bananas are much cheaper than meat and cheese.

      I was surprised about the oranges as well. I'm diabetic, some fruits I eat. Small apples, blueberries, strawberries, bananas in smoothies.
