In the LN they said that all her training with Ruijerd on initiation, fighting multiple enemies, being encircled and her first hand combat experience on the demon continent, helped her further hone the skills Ghislaine had already taught her. It's crazy how far real combat experience can elevate a person. In this scene she's only still at Advanced Sword King Style, i can't wait to see her again in the future.
@@Phantom-ZER0 She stronger than a regular Advanced Level Sword Style, Swordman/woman. Just before the Téléport Incident she became Advanced. I think that with her training with Ruijerd, she must be Saint Level. And she actually beat two Saints Levels Swordman and woman some weeks after this.
The best bit about this whole sequence is how she forgets about entirely an hour later. She's super proud of her little solo adventure and earned Cliff's eternal respect, but that's not as important as finding out why Rudeus was sad when she returned to the inn.
The only thing about this is that we don't get to see or can't tell if eris used the silent sword technique that's a step down from the light speed sword technique the cat lady used (I will never remember how to spell her name).
@@jaye4157 Ghislaine, and at this point Eris is mostly fighting instinctually and doesn't have any formal techniques as such. Most of what she knows is under Rugierd who uses a spear, as opposed to Ghislaine who trained under the Northern Sword God.
At this exact point in time Eris is a Sword Saint. Thing is, a Sword Saint is defined by the ability to use Sword of Light, unfortunately, she doesn't yet know how to.
The reason *why* she's a Sword Saint is cuz she mops the floor two Saints, who are a bit older than her. Hence might bends rules.
Paul may never know just how lucky he was that Ruijerd was around to restrain Eris during those episodes.🤣
Here's a bit of extra: those assassins were the first people she'd ever killed, and she doesn't flinch. After seeing the state Rudeus was in, she was setting on her way to add Paul to that list.
Eris is a deadly machine, the assassins never had a chance to stop her. The second season is just around the corner and we will be able to enjoy the story.
The 2nd season will drop in early 2023 right ?

I can’t get over this show. There is better animation and fight choreography in this OVA then there are in the season finales of some anime. God I never want this anime to die

For those interested, this fight was actually described as being pretty close in the LN. The fact that she was the first to attack helped a lot too. Since she uses the Sword God style striking first is really integral to her fighting style
Yeah, the LNs are great at describing the fights and the writing overall is great.
But it feels different when you see the scene in front of your eyes with some godlike animation.

That female knight that Eris saved is Rudeus's aunt Therese btw, they cut that out from season 1. But she's Zenith's younger sister and she's the one that helped them find a ship to travel from Millis to Asura.
Fun fact, Rudy mistook her for Zenith at first and called her mother by habit, but later when she found out he was Zenith's Rudy, she spoiled him so much that Eris got jealous of her snuggling her Rudy and demanded him returned to her.

@@Kev376 yeah, they didn't have enough time to fit her into the anime. So the second ship finding chapter was cut out.
She also, later in the LN tried to subdue Rudeus and 'cut off his hands'. It really is one of the better written stories Ive ever read.

Her religion is her top priority, but they had valid reasons for being there and getting on their way. Plus she got to form memories of her nephew while he was "still at a cute age." The next time they'd meet, he's a grown man and a powerful mover of world events in his own right. And on a mission to rampage.

Some people are criticizing why Eris isn't shown being a badass in the episodes... it's precisely because of Rudeus. He is capable of handling every difficulty on the way, and as a result, not giving Eris her chance to grow and resolve things on her own. But as you can see, because Rudy isn't with her in this OVA, she can truly shine on her own.
Though not the right way to do it, leaving Rudeus was the correct decision. She can grow stronger and independent alone, which this OVA has shown us.

True. But these events are taking place before she leave Rudeus at the end of season two. The OVA is what happened during the reunion between Rudeus and his father.

@@frostfire397 it actually aired in order it was an extra chapter at the end of the light novel and this takes place the same day when rudeus has the fight with his dad. and eris shows up about to tell him about all of this but sees him super depressed and keeps it to herself

0:34 He is trying to lock the blade in his body by pushing it down and trying to create a openning for other assasin to finish the job. They are too weak for eris but they are professionals. I really like this scene. Their tactics and sword techniques are still "anime" techniques. Not something useful even in anime but fun to watch, it conveys what they wanted to tell you and animation is good as always.

@@Zoom03352Well the fact that someone just grabbing the blade stops her cut that can normally cleave a human in half is still inconsistent.
this OVA showed how much Eris has grown with her sword techniques. In later seasons of the show we'll get to see how she evolves into a true badass

@@yourboi1842 I recommend looking at Season 2 more as an arc that is establishing Rudeus' reasons for getting involved in the central conflict of the entire story (not going to spoil, and I would suggest nobody else reading this spoil the story either). So while the second half of S2 may involve a new, high-stakes arc near the end, there is also a good chance that it will be entirely confined to his (mis)adventures at Ranoa Magic University. Actually, thinking about it there's a high probability that S2 will be pretty slow, character-driven, and entirely focused on Rudy building up and solidifying the relationships he has started.
So, if you like the high-adventure, badass action scenes you should definitely look forward to S3!

Interesting little factoid they skipped in the anime. That female knight is Therese Latria, Zenith's younger sister and Rudeus's aunt.
I'd forgotten that neat detail. Shame they didn't put it in but would have been hard to without getting meta.
I liked the part at the end of Volume 2 Rudy meets Therese. Therese and Zenith have such a strong resemblance that Rudy thinks _shes_ Zenith for a bit.

It is incredibly hard to pick a favorite girl in this series. Wherever you watch Eris, she is best girl. Then it is Roxy...and then Sylphie. I do like Roxy best. But whenever any one of them get on the screen, they're the best. They really did a fantastic job on Mushoku Tensei.
Well Rudeus views them as his Goddess of War, Knowledge, and Love respectively.

I can't wait for another season. This went from, "just another isekai" to, one of my favorite series. It's also great how I didn't like Erisu, until she became the badass that she is now...
Character development is important in any story and Mushoku Tensei completely aces it.

@@Eric-zs6rd doesn’t become a harem next season. It’s the season after. Next season is the ED arc. Also hope you know Mushoku is the one that popularized a lot of tropes like harems. And it’s not bad. Unlike most harems, this one is much better written and doesn’t include 13 different chicks that the mc doesn’t get with.

Well, she is given the title of sword saint almost immediately after arriving at the Sword Sanctum. Anyway, in the light novel it is stated that she had her heart pounding at the end. It was the first time she killed people, it even affected her a little.
Man Eris is so cool. I get that she starts as your basic angry tsundere but there's so much more depth and development to her character throughout the story. Goes from being unhinged and spoiled rotten to a totally awesome proud and loving warrior. Eris is like the one tsundere to rule them all. She's just a truly different kind of savage and I love her for it.
The fact that the battles in this anime feel dynamic and realistic, its something i truly admire and makes the world livelier giving you a sensation of what the characters are going through. I love mushoku tensei man

Yup. Tbh he is amazing in a sense advanced in almost everything but it gets to his head where as Rudeus is even more talented but doesnt get a swollen head due to his experience
I remember this was one of the first light novels I read way before the anime came out. I stopped reading it to focus on school at the time. I'm glad to see the anime is doing well, and they are letting the characters shine aside from the protagonist.
Man I hope we get to see more from Studio Bind, they went nutty with the animation in this show 😬.

Eris at this point is already a Advanced to Saint level swordsman, putting her already on the elite of the world, her potential is only surpassed by the Rudy's potential to attack magic at this point.

I loved the small detail of her disarming the one assassin sounded like metal on metal when she backhanded his wrist. I can only assume that was her aura armor (forget what it's called) covering her arm.

the boy learned he may be able to cast "high level" magic but he cant do it without incanting and he cant do it fast enough to matter in combat... which he had been told multiple times by eris her "master" can do the same without incanting at all and extremely quickly almost instantly.

Sure Eris isn’t the best she could be yet, but gosh darn if she is still amazingly skilled. Can’t wait for her to get on Glas (or however her name starts off being spelled) is, it’s gonna be even more of a beauty
I rmr starting this anime with little expectations and ended up finishing the first season absolutely loving it. Sure not any big fights have happened but the animations were very nice am looking forward to when the big events happen as am told this was only the prologue and the real journey has not started yet. This seem like one of them animes that'll go on for awhile and get very popular the longer is goes on
"The Mad King Eris" is definitely one of my favorite anime characters of all time. One of a very small list of female counterparts that has zero filter and is not afraid to hoist the colors and start stacking bodies. Even at this early point in development she has zero hesitation!

@@Zoom03352 nah it totally was. it was a 'misunderstanding ' because of Eris choosing to leave a poorly worded note instead of telling Rudeus, and then when they met back up the first time ending up attacking him and not listening to him right after he lost Roxy in that timeline.
fast forward 30+ years and every time they met they fought because eris went mad. Old Rudeus had to invent time travel to both save Roxy, Andto fix the misunderstanding with eris once he figured out what actually happened.

that is wholly on Eris. the leaving, the not explaining, and the lack of empathy towards Rudeus's loss what completely on her.
jeez, why everyone trying to act like Eris is perfect, the whole point of the story is that NO ONE is perfect. Not Sylphie, Roxy, Rudeus, Orsted, 7, Clyde, none of them. All we can do is change in response to our experiences.

the next part im absolutely hyped for is when the Mad Dog is starting at the Dojo and punches the Heiress in the Face to win the spar. that was such an epic moment i hope they do it justice.

My favorite bit was later on the North God had come over to talk about something with the Sword God. He was just chilling outside when the sheer amount of bloodlust and killing intent Eris leaked shared him shitless. He thought some horrifying monster was approaching and it would take the combined efforts of both Gods to defeat the beast.
