I was always told not to use dielectric grease because it's non conductive. I my self prefer continuity paste. But I would also seal that connection with self algamating silicone tape.
Yes, that connection will be sealed. AT&T POTS lines always ran fine.... those junction boxes are loaded with it. I always wore gloves connecting a subscriber to DSL back in the day.
This is just a temp job setup for Stealth HOA Antenna. I have a 49:1 UnUn I am planning on installing ! This is only used stationary...But these 4 magnets have a major amount of grab. Just a cheap simple get out antenna.
FYI, if the ground side of your whip antenna has no connection to the car's metal, the range of the antenna will be greatly diminished. That's why there is a spring mount for most antennas that let you ground the mount and the radio/antenna external lead. Your vehicle is the ground plain for that antenna.
The best ground is vehicle ground. This is just a temp antenna I use while home as a temp base antenna in a HOA . I am setting up a 49:1 unun Radom wire to be better off in the near future. Thanks for your comment and is the right way !
@@EricTechstuffs Run a piece of copper wire from any coil (tiny and too thin to be seen from a distance, down into a bucket of water (beneath surface visibility) or a lightning rod shoved into the more moist earth under your pole. It will cause the earth itself to become the ground plain if you have no ground plain at all. I have talked around the world on Citizen's Band with a 102" steel whip antenna and an improvised ground plain. You can also make a Di-Pole antenna from 2 pieces of steel wire and a block for the gamma match. Just trim the wire down to the wavelength. 11 meters.
Flatside
Flat is always the best side on DX

Eric, how do i get ahold of you about working on a radio?

Iv never used a mag mount... Especially with a 102 stainless steel whip.
