This is one of the most ridiculous controversies I've ever seen. Like, how dare someone review a movie from a non-biased perspective. Like, he wasn't even glazing the movie or Matt Walsh, he just said "Eh, it's good. It made me laugh." But that was enough to upset these people. It's crazy.
I only watched Sound of Freedom because of the noise people were making - I didn't even know why they were making noise! People upset? OK, I'm going to watch it for myself and see if there's something bad about it. Sound of Freedom was a tough film to watch but touched on a difficult subject very well. It was a good movie. Guess what? Now I'm going to watch Am I Racist? for a laugh because apparently it's funny.
Jeremy Jahns reviewed Sound of Freedom too. I don’t know if he got hate for that, but I appreciate his willingness to watch whatever, and say what he feels no matter what.
Saw the movie this weekend. Packed theatre. Everybody laughed out loud. Never heard that much laughter in a theatre since the premiere of Tropic Thunder.
As a future film maker (I plan on making terrifying 3D Animated Christian Horror films) I find it insultingly hilarious that Hollywood doesn't want ANY bad reviews because ppl r so stuck up on positivity that when negative comments come, they act insecure. So don't be positive or negative, but be positively negative. Point our the bads and so they know what to make good

Being called "racist" for liking a movie called "Am I A Racist?" that proves that people are accused of being racist when they are not racist is hilariously stupid (and racist).

Just watched a review from Dante at Verbal Riot. He gave it a great review. I agree with you on Matt Walsh takes on gaming and anime. They are awful. In the end, he has some great takes as well on family, gender ideology, and racism.
I'm no fan of Matt, I often find him irritating. However, I'm capable of separating the art from the artist. Who Matt is is irrelevant to people upset with this movie. They're mad because their team is being portrayed as dishonest grifters who are only making any racial issues worse. They can't understand that THIS IS TRUE so they think the movie is some sort of trick, that their team is being misrepresented. It's exactly the same as their misplaced ire towards LibsOfTikTok.
Just discovered your channel because of this subject and had watched JJ’s review earlier today. And really like your take on this whole thing. While I sometimes enjoy Matt’s takes, he was so stupid about gaming (and knew nothing about Gamer Gate), anime and other pop-culture. But on the other hand, I have enjoyed his dry humor quite often. And really enjoyed WHAT IS A WOMAN? And looking forward to seeing AM I RACIST? But now even more, just because they are trying to shut it down. You have a balanced viewpoint and put it well. @@erix4erix I use to watch him back in the day but stopped once I realized he didn’t review movies anymore but just gave a summary of what a video was. No critical thought since he went hollywood

Man, that is so crazy to me. Like I wrote in the comments section of his review, props to him to be basically the last OG TH-cam movie reviewer to not care about what other people think if he reviews a ''controversial'' movie. And it should be like that. I don't even adhere AT ALL to the DW ideologies, and I don't like Ben Shapiro but everyone should be able to review anything they want. It's mind boggling to me that people are trying to cancel him specifically because it's not like he's someone who even talks about his own politics views. He just reviewed a movie on its own. That's it. Like you said, if he would've said that the movie was trash, the same people would've praised him, but to be fair and real, some on the right would've probably called him out as well, calling him a beta leftist or something like that. But his review was fair. He built his whole career on being trustworthy and that's why MANY people of different ideologies come to him for his reviews because he always gonna give his honest opinion regardless. P.S. I know his Blade skit can be seen as problematic now, but it clearly wasn't made out of hate, on the contrary I would argue. Blade is a great character that happens to be black...okay...well I don't see the problem with anyone (Asian, Latinos, Whites, Arabs, etc) disguising themselves as THIS character specifically if they love him. Like I wouldn't mind a black person doing a white face to be Batman. It's just a skin color at the end of the day and part of the character. For me there's always been a difference between doing a black face or asian face to not hire a black or asian person (that's wrong on all levels) but when it's part of a character that you love and just want to be that person for one day or whatever, I never saw any problem with that honestly.
