12:29......118i does not come with an 8 speed torque converter automatic transmission.....its a 7 speed dual clutch....at least in the UK.

It’s a fantastic car without extras, the Msport has a great spec even standard.
@@Cripplegee I've test driven it already and it actually feels faster than it is. I'll get the reverse parking camera option fitted at a later stage
what about 3 cylinders engine after 3 years use ? I am between BMW 1.18i m sport and Tesla Model 3highland SR thay are same price What is your advice ? Thank you@@Omar31587
How can you not see the difference between the new model and the previous? The new model clearly has a new design from all angles.
the fog lamp and the grille and alot.take alittle passion and attention.you will discover it
and people still took photo of the car in that way (like in the cover) and it seems like a polo

BUT, you never mentioned how tall you are while talking about rear leg room. This is the first review I've seen where the reviewer is unhappy about rear leg room on the new 1 series, so it would be helpful to know your height for putting things into perspective.

Apologies! I'm 5'11" if that helps. I do sit further back than a lot of people my height thanks to longish legs 🙂

Actually i was never a fan of serie 1 (the old one) but this one i actually love it, the front is nicer for me, much more sport and the same goes to the rear, the rims are also better, the interior is better and nicer, so how can people say the old one is better than the new one? just because of front-wheel drive? it doesn't matter for 90% of people. One thing that i think bmw should start to worry about is the interior, because its almost the same as 10 years ago... come on...
Anyway, i'm waiting for my 118d which actually has 2 exhausts :D
That's awesome, I wish we got the diesels here in Aus! And yes most people won't even know the last gen was rear wheel drive, but car enthusiasts will, and it definitely isn't as sporty to drive as a result 😊
And it have real exhausts! 👏🙂 (Not fake like Mercedes A Classe or Audi A3 Sportback.)

@@CarSauce I love the tech in the car and all the little details for added value eg. interior lighting, automatic tailgate, chunky steering etc They have made everything so convenient . I love the sporty and aggressive look ! It is just a beautiful drive . You will just have to drive this baby to know !

Mine is the Alpine White with the M Sport Pack so has the black alloys etc. I'm loving it so much.
Rob King Congratulations. Good choice. I picked up my Misano Blue one on Thursday. Had it custom made in Munich with individual extras from the list.
is it true that this car has an engine by MINI (as opposed to BMW)??
Hmm not sure about that, but I doubt it! BMW owns Mini, not the other way around so even though they share a lot of components like engines it's most likely developed by BMW 😊

Most of new 1 series tyre air pressure is way too high tat's why new 1 series feels so bumpy. Go ahead to fuel station and change air pressure setting as other normal car. That will make huge difference. And in 2021, sadly BMW suffers from supply shortage before dealer's negotiations, BMW 1 cost up to A$54,000 with very basic option with comfort package( one of most popular) around A$56,000. BMW had deals brand new BMW 1 with BMW inclusive free five years service and enhancement packages around A$50,000 ( they increased price to $51,000 before closed the deal) but those day was over. For potential buyers better wait to until semiconductors short supply done.
i have ordered my 118i in Australia and awaiting delivery. love the car but one little certain is that it appears lower than vw golf 7.5. any comments?
Not sure about that, but that wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing - cars lower to the ground have a lower centre of gravity and therefore handle better 🙂
Greetings. Agree with almost everything in this review, expect for 2 things. I think a car at this price point (if you compare it to something like a Golf for example) should have dual zone climate control and rear air vents as standard. In Germany, the ‘Comfort Pack’ comes with that, in Australia it doesn’t. Very strange. I also think the new car looks better than the old one because it is better proportioned, never liked the elongated front when looking from the side.
Test drove the Audi A3 and Mercedes A180 with the 118i back to back before ordering the 118i last year. The Audi feels old and outdated and drives pretty much like the Golf I had, although materials are better. I know there is a new one coming this year I think. The A-Class, yes the layout looks good initially, but it does feel like having 2 iPads in front of you and there are so many customisation options and so many different things in different colours on the screen and the buttons on the steering wheel and the use of the tech system is 5x more complicated and more clumsy than in the 118i. And the baby beamers transmission and driving dynamics are much better than the A-Class. Incidentally, the 118i starts from $42,990+orc and Apple Car Play is now free.
BUT, by far the best review I have seen. Well done.

JACK SMITH it drives really well. Thanks for asking. My wife has bought another new Golf Comfortline and I like them both but the BMW is so much nicer to drive. The steering and transmission set up with the take off power on tap as well as the sound system, heads up display and seat comfort up front and the materials are just outstanding.
How is yours going ? What colour did you get
New 1 series front is miles ahead of the older one which imo looked awful and was dated looking , the new 1 looks more masculine and meaty , also the rear has 33mm (not great i know) more legroom in the back v the previous model , had never considered a 1 series before as i thought they looked plain now excitedly awaiting delivery of one in September , cheers for the review , enjoyed it even if i disagree on a couple of points
this bimmer with electric seats/ good audio or alfa romeo guilia, no electric but heated leather seats, turbo diesel 2.2. stock audio, manual shiftier both 30k eur
I love the Giulia but the issues with its build quality would stop me from buying one! The manual would be sweet though :)
Nice review. I'm leaning towards getting a 118i, but still trying to compare against the Mercedes A180. When can you do a review on that?

big issues with sound....
I seriously don't understand what's going on with the Audio! For most people it works, but there are way too many people where it doesn't. Is the issue all you can here is the music?
I listened to it on my iPhone7 and it played perfectly. I’ll try my laptop later to see if that plays ok.

My laptop and headphones all played well. Very odd
@@CarSauce I've just noticed in portrait mode on my phone it plays the background music only. But as soon as I rotate it to fullscreen/landscape mode I can hear your voice and the sound is normal. Very strange but I assume that's the same problem that others are having. May be my crap phone. Huawei P20 Pro
Great looking car! Much more modern looking than previous model! Any advice on whether the innovation pack is worth it? Including drive assist and heads up display! Debating between this and comfort pack
I would say if you do long distance driving (ie with highways and freeways) then the innovation pack is absolutely worth it! If not, it's not essential 🙂
MattBrandCars thanks for the tip! Not so many long motorway trips per year therefore I’ll take your advice! I’ll go with the comfort pack! Heated and electric seats will be nice on those cold mornings and keyless entry is so convenient

I have the 2019 Model with 8 speed and rear driven wheels. Also looks mutch better then the plastic looking 2020 car.
Dynamically, it is a more fun car if not purely because of the RWD :)

I am a little bothered by the leather steering wheel … is it real animal leather ?
The wheels are perfect for this car. 19 inch are too much. 17 inch too little.
Not sure why they put chrome slats on the msport and black sportier looking ones on the lower models. Would look better without the chrome

Might as well buy a KIA as it´s more value for a front wheel drive car.
It's definitely much better value, no denying that. But there is a reason that BMW and other luxury car brands exist, people like named brands, and the quality is hands down better than the comparable Cerato!

Does this 1 series come with active shutters? P.s its 7speed DSG. not 8 speed in the 118i + Carplay is now free for life.

There are tens of reviews where they say leg room at the back is pretty good :D is it the m seats the problem or maybe you set it very back at the front.
I do sit a little further back than most, it's manageable if I moved forward but that would be uncomfortable! 😉
“How are you going?” Is that the Australian version of “how’s it going?”...🧐 anyway! Good video, very intuitive. However, I disagree with your opinion on the front looking worse. I’d rather it be slightly tweaked and keep the angel eye headlights. Unlike the 3 series which in my opinion they have absolutely ruined! Day time running lights on them are shocking and are nothing like the iconic bmw lights. Unless of course, you get the M or Electric variant. I think this 1 series looks beastly. From every angle.

Great Review. I prefer the look of my F20 2018 one series. Too many weird triangular shapes in this one and the digital dash is bloody ugly (and needles go in weird direction). Still; a great review (even if this car is not my cup of tea)

@@CarSauce I got an alpine white M-sport with sun roof and black leather seats (with blue stitching). It was my second one series.
The digital dash with the backwards rev counter is an option not standard. Standard it has round normal Speedo/rev counter
@@Cripplegee depends on where you're from! Here in Australia, digital dash is standard
@@Cripplegee in Australia I think they are all speced with the 100% digital. You get way more choice in the UK.👍
