Thanks for the video. My dad used to talk me through all my little fixes but now that he's gone I second guess myself sometimes. But your video confirmed that I still knew all the steps he taught me years ago. :)
Thank you so much for sharing that with me. My father has been gone for 15 years now. He was NOT a handyman at all, but he always told me to do my best at anything I do. I have forgotten the sound of his voice now but still remember all the little tips he gave me. I am working on 2 more videos now, let me know if you need tips on anything and I will do my best to walk you through it. Thank you, this is why I am trying to do the videos. Have a blessed day.
My dad used to do stuff like this all the time. I think if he were still around he'd show me how. Sorry for your losses, Mika & Darryl. Here's to our Dads for making us not afraid to DIY.
Look here Mika and Darryl! I came here to learn how to install a light not to cry! I'm gonna assume these are allergies- maybe to TH-cam. *group hug for all our dads*
Thank u soooo much so much … thanks to u I just change a light fixture in my bathroom… I asked my husband to do it for me he didn’t wanna do anything in our house.. thank u again
Im so sorry. I am in the process of moving, I will have a new video up in the next few days. Anything you need to see? I was thinking about doing a Kitchen faucet for my new place this weekend and recording it.
After watching your video for only 4 minutes band 8 seconds, I paused it. I was confident enough to take down my vanity light fixture. New fixture installed. I’ve always had a fear I would be electrocuted. Lol Thank you.
Thank you!! I’m renovating my bathroom and I’ve been saving this for last because I’ve been so scared!! And I have two light fixtures! Thank you for teaching me and saving money!!!
Sheena Hodge thank you, they are very nice. I am very happy you did not have to call anyone, thats the point of this video. I want people to know they can do it. No need to be afraid, turn the power off and you have no worries. I should have said to turn the power off at the breakers, just happy I can help someone save some money and still have nice items with the gratification of doing it all on your own.
Thank you so so much. It’s people like you that make updating fun, hassle free, and inexpensive. I super appreciate the great video! I will be picking out my light tomorrow.
I followed your instructions (and those in the box!) to the letter and you were so right! took about an hr total and it looks so good! saved money and learned new skill! keep the tutorials coming!!
Thank you..I must of been needing to find your videos..I have a few light fixtures to replace and a light switch.I was going to call a company but I think I can do this on my own..and save.... Thank you
I'm so thankful that your video was recommended because I live in am apartment which is out dated and I REALLY wanted to change my light fixture that looks like your old one. Thanks for making this video.
You are a sweetheart. Thank you for sharing this! I know it sounds silly but as a single woman, I've been putting off changing up my light fixtures because I didn't want to spend the money to have someone come do it for me.
Not silly at all. Thats why I do the videos, to help everyone see its not hard and you dont have to spend alot. Check out some of the other videos and I will be posting a new one next week that I hope will help too. Have a great day.
Thanks Daryl, nice video. You have given me the confidence to change the light fixtures in two of our baths. Thanks for demystifying the process for me.
@@darryladams6193 So I did follow your instructions and it went smoothly. There were two problems with the lights that were originally installed when our house was built in 1997. In the master bath, the electrician who installed the original light fixture never connected the ground wire. And in the guest bath, instead of just using a wood screw (or at the most a wood anchor insert) chopped a couple of big holes in the wall and used molly bolts. The new fixture is narrower, so now I have two big holes I have to patch. Wonder what other surprises lurk behind the drywall. Sheesh. Anyway, thanks for your video. Bert
@@bertfarin8755 I never even considered going over what happens when it does not fit just right. Thank you for pointing that out. Do you know how to repair it? Keep us posted. I love seeing everyone discussing all this, things I miss or didnt know to cover. Thank you so very much.
Thanks, the hard part for me was trying to put the clip slides back on the light sockets at the end - tried to put them on backwards. You gave me one of those "aha!" moments as I realized my brain-dead error on the easy part. Getting old.
Omg I'm so glad this is easy to do! The ones at my house are old and rusted, but I thought it would be expensive to pay someone to change them. Now I'll do them! I wish you could do a video on how to install a bathroom vanity that has pipes in the ground not the normal in the wall ones 🥴 my mom needs to fix hers. Thanks for this vid!!
Thank you, just subscribed. This is exactly what I was looking for will certainly be doing this by myself and save myself a bit of $$ whilst learning a new skill. Been scared to touch my bar and replace it also scared of getting quote .
Hello Darryl. Awesome video, thank you so much. Simple tutorial. May I ask if you could clarify what you meant by turn off the power? Just the switch for the light or at the breaker box?
Thanks for this video Darryl. Going to redo our bathroom vanities tomorrow and I was wondering what the wiring looks like behind there. Just a single box? Easy peasy brother! We're gonna be looking good over here.
With a wire nut, you don't need to twist the wires going in it before hand. Put the wires parallel to each other, touching, and they will intertwine when twisting the wire nut.
Thanks .... just what I wanted... Note, you can see the shading from the lights on the ceiling. You should repaint the ceiling and also, move those lights down a couple of inches... its too high and just looks weird. Good job. Thanks again!
Thanks for the video. The first half is helpful. But I am upgrading the light fixture to one that is less 1980s looking to more modern looking fixture. What do we do with the excess wires?
Great. That's what I was thinking but wanted to be sure. There will be one on the new fixture as well. That is a ground wire. Best of luck and have a great day.
Wires were coming out of the wall without a junction box. I wonder if that is legal or he should have installed a junction box before installing the new light.
thanks so much for this, single aging mom homeowner who cannot call the handyman every ten minutes. if you know how to change out a vanity in the bathroom would be a great video.

Hello Darryl. Awesome video, thank you so much. Simple tutorial. May I ask if you could clarify what you meant by turn off the power? Just the switch for the light or at the breaker box?
That was my question as well. Looked like he just turned off the wall switch. 🤔
turn off power at breaker box. turning off light switch doesnt kill the power that comes through the wires.
Thanks for this video Darryl. Going to redo our bathroom vanities tomorrow and I was wondering what the wiring looks like behind there.

Thanks for the video. I didn’t see you ground the bare copper wire. My copper wire wasn’t long enough for grounding. Is grounding a requirement?
Was there a wall box ? Or wires coming out of hole in drywall.
Wires were coming out of the wall without a junction box. I wonder if that is legal or he should have installed a junction box before installing the new light.
